For some fans of (American) Football, the Super Bowl is a major event. For some others, it's a chance to watch some unique commercials and movie trailer. For many, it's all about the HALFTIME SHOW! Needless to say, we're not the biggest fans of Football (or sports for that matter), but this Super Bowl held a bigger promise for us: a Big Game Spot for THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU, and a Halftime Show featuring Puerto Rican megastar BAD BUNNY!Some Star Wars and Puerto Rican culture, what could go wrong?With THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU release date only 3 months away, and it being the first Star Wars theatrical release since 2019, it seems that the marketing blitz for this film is...bizarre? Despite the Tauntauns, the hype for this film is somewhat lacking and we discuss all of it!In other Super Bowl news, after BAD BUNNY's show, the event is now called the BENITO BOWL. This performance was one of joy, love, and celebration of Puerto Rican and Latin culture, and as a Puerto Ricans this show was really transcendent and emotional. We discuss our reactions to this performance and the political connotations (and reactions) it presented. Somehow, MAUL returned! After an announcement at Star Wars Celebration Japan (which featured a trailer), Lucasfilm has finally released the first Teaser Trailer for MAUL – SHADOW LORD! This is a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one, especially after the news of Kathleen Kennedy stepping down, and Dave and Lynwen's ascension.Today we discuss this trailer, speculate on what might happen (and who might show up), and gush about the absolutely gorgeous art (Star Wars animation always knocks it out of the park!). Every reign comes to an end. After months of speculation, Lucasfilm has announced that Kathleen Kennedy will step down as President. Kathy has been President of Lucasfilm since the Disney acquisition of the company in 2012. Despite a fandom that at many times were hostile towards her, Kathy led Lucasfilm into a bright new era of Star Wars which saw so many animated shows, comics, books, live action series, and films which has expanded the mythos and helped the Galaxy reach a plethora of new fans.In her "Exit Interview" with Deadline, Kathy discusses her storied career and discuss what has happened with many cancelled projects like Steve Soderbergh and Adam Driver's The Hunt For Ben Solo, James Mangold and Beau Willimon's Dawn of The Jedi and beyond.As Kathy returns to producing (including the upcoming The Mandalorian And Grogu, and Starfighter), we salute her incredible career and wish her all the best in her future projects.While one reign ends, another begins. Kathy steps down and (as rumored) Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan rise. Dave will serve as President and Chief Creative Officer and Lynwen will serve as Co-President. Everyone knows about Dave's role within Lucasfilm as apprentice to George Lucas, but Lynwen's role within Lucasfilm has been equally as impressive. Lynwen has been at Lucasfilm since 1999, beginning her tenure at Industrial Light & Magic where she become its leader in 2009. She was General Manager of Lucasfilm in 2015 and President & General Manager of Lucasfilm Business in 2024. Her leadership has been recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Visual Effects Society and the honor of Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.With this new leadership, questions and concerns arise about what we can expect from what we've called colloquially "Phase 3" of Star Wars.
