The 99 sheep left behind in the parable of the lost sheep not only tells us how we find Jesus when we leave it all behind, but how much our repentance truly means to Him. This also explains why they don't exist.
This lesson is not about Jesus leaving the 99 to find us. It's about how we find Jesus when we leave the 99 and how great that celebration is.
In Matthew, it's a faceless man. In Luke, it's a pharisee. No shepherd is ever mentioned, let alone the Good Shepherd, compared to.

Is Holloween scary or sexy? Silly or serious? Does Halloween make us evil, or is it an exuse to enjoy playfully evil thoughts? Is the season in and of itself evil? Is there evil inside us that becomes plain and obvious during this season by way of entertainment?

Do we enjoy sweets more than nourishment? Are we feasting on the candy of strangers more than we are on the Bread of Life?
Are we, the church, called to embrace Halloween or fight against all it stands for?
To imitate Christ means that it's not our job to condemn our Roman empire. It's not our job to overthrow the oppressor but simply to aid the oppressed that they may be saved.
