Description

I’m a UK-based angler who simply loves fishing. I’m not a pro or sponsored, just an everyday angler who’s still learning and often wondering what went wrong.

I fish for all species, from the famous to the forgotten, because every trip has a story… even the blanks.

This podcast is raw and unedited. You’ll hear the thinking out loud, the mistakes, the lessons learned, and the small wins, plus stories, chats, and honest fishing talk. If you’re an everyday angler, grab a brew and join me.

In this month’s update, I talk through everything that’s been going on behind the scenes as we edge closer to spring. One of the big things covered is the Fishery Managers Course I attended. It was a proper eye-opener and gave me a much deeper understanding of what really goes into running a fishery properly. From water quality to stock management, it’s given me a whole new level of respect for the people who keep our lakes ticking. There’s been plenty of prep work as well. I’ve been spending time walking the lake I plan to focus on this spring, watching for signs, learning the depths, looking at features, and generally trying to build a proper picture before I even think about getting serious with the rods. The older I get, the more I realise preparation is everything. I also cover the DO (dissolved oxygen) testing I’ve been doing on my lakes. Understanding oxygen levels and how they change gives you a real edge, especially heading into warmer months. It’s something I’m taking more seriously this year and I explain why. On top of that, I was involved in a work party, giving a bit back and helping improve the lake. If you fish somewhere regularly, it only feels right to chip in when you can. Fishing-wise, I managed to squeeze in a couple of overnighters during the month. Nothing crazy, just time on the bank, keeping the wheels turning and staying connected to it all. I also chat about the big Carp Show coming up in March. It’s the big one, and I’m really looking forward to it. Shows are always a good chance to see what’s new, have a chat, and soak up a bit of inspiration before the season properly kicks off. If you’re enjoying the podcast and want to follow more of what I’m doing, head over to YouTube and search questfishingadventures (all one word, no spaces). As always, thanks for listening and being part of the journey. Spring is coming… and I’ve got a feeling this year could be special.
Alright, welcome back to the podcast and welcome to the January update.I’ll be honest straight off the bat, this episode isn’t about big hits or hero shots, because January has absolutely not been that kind of month. I’ve only managed one actual fishing trip, and even that felt more like a reconnaissance mission than a session. Most of January’s been spent doing what looks suspiciously like not fishing at all. A lot of walking around the lake, staring into the water like I know exactly what I’m looking for, chatting to other anglers, and convincing myself that every tiny ripple is definitely a carp. I’ve had the marker rod out, felt around for gravel bars, found a few decent spots, and generally tried to build a picture of what’s going on under the surface. So yeah, not much time with rods out, but plenty of prep. Laying the groundwork, learning the water, and trying to stack the odds just a little bit more in my favour for when it actually counts. It’s not the glamorous side of fishing, but it’s all part of the game.If nothing else, I’ve done enough “prep” this month to fully justify blanking later on.Check me out on YouTube :Quest Fishing Adventures Q.F.A - YouTube

After disappearing longer than a carp in crystal-clear water (last episode was May 26th, 2024 😅), Quest Adventures has officially returned.Yep — life happened, rods got dusty, microphones went quiet… but the podcast is alive and kicking once again. In this episode, I ramble a bit, apologise a lot, laugh at myself, and ease my way back into things. Consider this the “long-overdue reunion tour” episode — no warm-up act, just me, a mic, and plenty of enthusiasm.Thank you for sticking around (or rediscovering the podcast!). There’s loads more adventures, fishing stories, and exciting stuff coming your way — this is just the start of the comeback.Grab a brew, stick your headphones on, and enjoy Episode 196.Let’s gooooo! 🎙️🎣YouTube - Quest Fishing Adventures - YouTube

It is time. Time to get the surface rod back out! LETS see how this pans out ?
Well I wanted to go back soon after my last trip to try out a small theory I have and also I have in the back of my head the fact I will be putting in a big campaign on Lily Lake soon.
So I have decided to take a trip back to silty Shallows in todays pod.
*****NEW LAKE***** So in this podcast I'm fishing another new lake on my tickets. The plan was not to fish it this soon by the stars have alined which pushed me to put the rods out.
Well the plan was to jump back on Five Pillers but due to my swim being taken I decided to fish a different lake in today episode.
So time has come for me to jump back on this mega lake on a mission to catch my first carp out of here.
Back out in search of another 30lber from this lake. Fingers crossed the Carp gods will be shining down on me.
So decide I have to call back in on the Noisy Lake with a mission to try and get back in one of the honey holes see if I can catch another one of the beautiful carp that live in this lake.
Well time for a change on this lake. I need to change my swim as it as switched off. So come have a listen to see what I have come up with and if it pays off.
So after purchasing that chicken tikka liquid and then every time I have just it in my carp fishing. I have always thought that the smell would be great on the river. So I just had to give it ago. Come and have a listen to see if it worked.
Back out on Rousebarn 2 and jumping back on the same spots as last week. With one thing in mind that lump of a carp I lost!!!
I just had to go back. This lake will not beat me again in the winter. I just know I have the ability to catch from this lake all year round
When things don't go to plan part 2 but leigh does get drunk.
Looks like this is the start of the campaign on Lillys Lake and about time I say. It's not going to be easy but if I can catch at least one carp out I'll be buzzing.
Well what can I say. Its my 4th trip on this lake and I'm gonna spoil it now. I have completed it! A must listen podcast!!!!
