On this episode of the Healthy + Happy Podcast, Dr. Slade is talking with special guest Lindsey Lockett about trauma and how it gets stored in the body. More about Lindsey: Lindsey Lockett is a trauma educator, nervous system coach, and the host of the Holistic Trauma Healing Podcast. After leaving behind the dogmas of fundamentalist religion and toxic wellness culture, Lindsey experienced her own dark night of the soul. During the healing journey that followed, she realized that trauma affects us as WHOLE people and therefore, we need to heal as WHOLE people. Although Lindsey has benefitted tremendously from therapy and psychiatry, these modalities never totally resonated with her because she found that they forced her to fragment herself rather than heal holistically. She set out to find an affordable and accessible approach that integrates the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and ancestral parts of our being… and discovered the magic of the nervous system! She works with clients one on one, helps people through her workshops and group programs, and is building conscious community in her private online community, the Trauma Healers Circle.  Lindsey lives on 6 beautiful acres of wilderness in Northeastern Minnesota with her husband of 20 years. She loves foraging and making her own plant medicines and cold plunging in Lake Superior. On this episode of the Healthy + Happy Podcast, Dr. Slade talks to special guest, Cary Mac Arthur, about what it means to be a “C.” Special Guest Info: Until about 10 years ago, Cary MacArthur spent a lot of time pursuing her many interests from the inside of her comfort zone—until she realized that she was becoming more and more separated from the things-- and especially the people-- that mattered most to her. She began working with therapists and coaches to reconnect to herself and others, and while she entered this process silently “kicking and screaming,” she came out with more enthusiasm for life, more confidence, and a desire to keep facing fears in order to discover the joy on “the other side.” Cary considers herself a “professional student,” but she put her education on hold for several years to raise a family. She has a BA in both Psychology and Spanish. In 2021, she achieved a life-long goal of earning a Masters’ degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.  She and her husband, Dave, have been married 31 years and have 5 amazing children, who so far have given them 8 grandchildren! Cary loves being a wife and mother, but her current favorite title is the one her grandkids gave her: “Rassy.” Cary is currently working as an LAMFT and is excited to be a Healthy+Happy coach.
