This week on Persisting In Color, our very own Deb opens up about her experience as an Asian-American witnessing the current slew of anti-Asian hate crimes spurred by false narratives spread about the COVID-19 virus. She shares her experience in the office, coping mechanisms that she's found helpful, and how this has impacted her personally. Persisting in Color is an unapologetically safe space for those navigating the world with minority identities and those wanting to support people in their lives who hold these identities (even if you are still learning how to support). With this in mind, we stand openly against these hate crimes and the lack of understanding that spurs them. You can donate to the nonprofit Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAJC) now to help end the silence and ignorance one effort at a time.
To round out last week's episode on how companies can support their employees in the face of triggering current events, Deb and Niara take today's episode to cover how employees themselves can prepare for these kinds of events. From boundary setting to resources research, this is advice that is actionable now to help prepare for whatever this year has in store.
