This is the third and final episode in which our hosts Nisha Agrawal and Diego Pulido conversations with previous Interaction Awards winners. Nisha talks with Andreas Refsgaard, who back in 2017 won an Interaction Award for “Best Student” with his project called “Eye Conductor”, which was also a finalist in the “Empowering” and “Expressing” categories. This project shows how it’s possible for people (specially those with certain physical disabilities) to express themselves through music only using their eyes and facial gestures. Diego talks with Simone Rebaudengo. He won two Interaction Awards: one for best in the “Engaging” category, and another for Best in Show. Both of the awards were for his project called “Addicted Products”. With this project, Simone used the concept of a smart kitchen appliance as a way to question our relationship with such products, as well as the implications of designing connected devices. Andreas and Simone share their memories of what it was like to submit their project; what it felt like to have their project short-listed; and the impact being recognized at the Interaction Awards has had on their careers. Diego talks with Sreyan Ghosh. He won an award back in 2017 in the “Expressing” category for “Best Concept” with his submission called “Together Radio”. This concept enables a one-sided live narration from a woman who has been a victim of abuse while other victims can join in to listen and sympathise with her through touch. Manasi, Rodhima and Sreyan share their memories of what it was like to submit their project; what it felt like to have their project short-listed; and the impact being recognized at the Interaction Awards has had on their careers.
