This week I am joined by the other half of Minds Eye Theatre Company Jonathan Quigley. Jonathan is a writer, director, and actor who is a fanatic film fan, basically he's perfect for the podcast. He chooses a new enough flick by the name of Knives Out, a classic spin on the traditional "Who done it?" genre. Not only will it keep you guessing until the very end but it'll also blow you away with its acting and incredible direction. Directed by the infamous (in some circles) Rian Johnson join us as we deep dive into this modern classic. Enjoy!
In this week's episode, I finally get to talk about MY favorite movie. Fight Club! I'm joined by musician/actor/artist Brendan Hickey. First off major SPOILER warning if you have yet to see Fight Club please, please, please watch it before listening to this episode.  Once you have come on back and strap yourself in as I talk to Bren about our college days drawing phallic-shaped cartoon characters to the deepest meaning of purpose raised by this masterpiece of film which is even more relevant today. Hello witches and wizards! This week I am joined by Dara once again, but this time we dive into her real favorite movie, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Dara has an intense passion for Harry Potter, having read all the books (multiple times) and basically watching the films any chance she gets. Seriously, she suggests it at least once a week. She is the perfect guest to get into the deep details of the Potter world and why this particular installment keeps her coming back for more and more! Enjoy! P.S. Louis Deslis is on this week to talk about the 1992 japanese animated movie about Porco Rosso a fighter pilot fresh on the heels of world war one who defeats sky pirates in his seaplane...He was also cursed to be half man half pig. Join us as we talk about this crazy swashbuckling adventure, which has multiple layers of social commentary as well a talking pig. Enjoy!
Do you like Mermaids? Well this may not be the movie for you ;) This week I am joined by Cait Moloney as we DIVE into Mermaids (1990) A film with mega star Cher and a teenage Winona Ryder. We scrap back this movies bubble gum exterior and talk about the deep darkness that lays underneath. Never having seen this coming of age story I was pleasantly surprised by its gothic and weird alluring vibes. Check it out!
WE ARE BACK! We kick start season 2 with a bang! I'm joined by Kieran Larkin who picked the Formula 1 movie Rush (2013) This based on a true story flick (a first for us here at Film Friday) explores the deep dynamic world of Formula 1 through the eyes of two of the greats James Hunt and Niki Lauda.  Kierans passion for racing is on par with my love for film, join us as we not only talk about the movie but the incredible world of one of the most exciting and dangerous sports there has ever been. Directed by the skilled hand of Ron Howard, the film is a must see for any race fan and who knows, by the end of it you man be tuning in to check out Lewis Hamilton! Enjoy!

She choose a true Christmas classic Elf, the film that all ages can watch, enjoy and cry laughing. Victoria is a 2015 German film (don't worry you don't need subtitles) which was all shot in one take within 2 and a half hours. This feet on its own would be impressive but the fact that it manages this and still delivers and unbelievable story and acting just pushes it into pure masterclass🤙 I kid you not this is what film making now all about

This week our guest Jade Taylor Cooke (or simply Cooke) comes all the way from South Africa to chat about the childhood classic The NeverEnding Story (1984). We jump into this German classic which became a VHS staple for so many kids. Be warned though upon viewing as an adult it reveals a much darker film than you remember. This episode gets deep into the philosophical metaphors and insane ideas we all missed when we first watched The NeverEnding Story in our PJ's and blanket forts! Enjoy!

Its the first film of the podcast which I haven't seen before and the first subtitled movie we have had!! We dive in and chat about some big issues the film raises like gender, sex and our perception of love! (Unfortunately due to some recording errors the last 5 minutes has a bit of overlap)
