Karina F. Daves is one of my favorite people in the coaching space. When I talk about showing up online authentically, resourcefully and with ease, she is a prime example of this. As a Life Coach, she provides several platforms with tips on how to have relationships, set boundaries and live your best life. Her focus is on boundaries, relationships and putting yourself first. She guides women towards a fulfillment making sure that they are the main character of their lives. Her growing community allows women to see that they are not alone in life. In this episode we dive into how to set boundaries with those around you including, partners, parents and friends without feeling like you’re walking on eggshells but with self-trust and as an act of love to yourself and those around you. We talk about creating balance, protecting your creativity and keeping your true identity alive in business despite the multiple roles and identities we hold.  Podcast episode mentioned throughout: Why Entrepreneurship is Emancipation for Women of Color Connect with us on social: @karinafdaves @growwiththeflowpodcast @itzycanales CHECK BACK FOR NEW EPISODES EVERY OTHER THURSDAY! This week's episode was taken from an Instagram Live I did a few months back, but thought would be beneficial to share on the podcast as we wind down the year and start thinking about plans for 2023! Tune in to listen to how I go about blocking out my month so that I have space for work, play, self-care and growth. Throughout the episode, I share ways to plan around travel, creating content around my menstrual cycle, my FT job and based on my energy levels and upcoming holidays and trends to optimize my partnerships and connection with my community. I offer some insight on how I set boundaries with my FT job and prioritize self-care and my mental health. So while I do mention starting quarter 4, keep this in mind as we transition fresh into quarter 1. It’s definitely not too late to share holiday content and start creating an impression with your community and your dream brands but also by recognizing that your best looks different from day to day and releasing some of the shame around productivity. If you know you’re ready to get help with your time management to attain good work/life balance and showing up confidently in your community, I invite you to  apply for my 1:1 confidence coaching program by scheduling a clarity call with me here: https://calendly.com/itzycanales/claritycall Connect with us on social: @growwiththeflowpodcast @itzycanales CHECK BACK FOR NEW EPISODES EVERY OTHER THURSDAY! Boundaries is something that we tend to associate with selfishness because if you’re like me, you weren’t given the opportunity to set boundaries and when you start to do so, people may react out of the ordinary. Usually, our triggers are an invitation into getting to know ourselves on a deeper level and setting boundaries can bring up discomfort, guilt and fear and not setting boundaries can leave us feeling resentful, insecure and misunderstood. Both are uncomfortable but setting boundaries is an act of self-love and an act of love to others. It builds confidence and creates healthier relationships. No one gains anything from neglecting our own personal needs. Which first requires us to feel like we deserve time, space and respect.  You are not mean for setting boundaries, for holding people accountable and for speaking up. It’s okay to be protective of the life and joy you’ve built and the work you've done and it’s totally normal to feel discomfort when advocating for yourself. So please be kind to yourself when you find yourself in unfamiliar or uncomfortable situations. You are on your own side 🤍  If the holidays feel hard for you, know that you’re not alone. It’s okay to have conflicting feelings around this time of year. They all can co-exist. Sending you so much love. Today’s guest is my business coach, Mariela De La Mora!! I’ve been working with her since February and her story and I can attest to the work that she does and how transformational it is. Mariela is a business and leadership coach who helps women of color and daughters of immigrants become in-demand thought leaders. She is also a leadership mentor to 7 and 8 figure CEOs and even leaders in the United Nations. By focusing specifically on the mindset challenges women of color experience, her clients reclaim their voices, make more confident decisions, and create brands that are truly unlike any in their market. Before becoming a coach, she spent 16 years in marketing leading international teams. As the eldest daughter of Mexican immigrants, she was often the only WOC in senior leadership and had to break past systemic and mindset barriers to do it. She has since built a multiple 6-figure business as a single mom, and served dozens of clients all over the world. In the episode we talk through some of the difficult and courageous decisions she’s had to do to create the unapologetic life she leads today and how the spaces she didn't belong in became expansive and beneficial for her growth and healing. Welcome back! I’m back from my month-long hiatus.. I’m learning that inconsistency is not a problem as long as I’m committed so I’ve been committed to other things like rest, my yoga training and spending time with family at the moment so thank you for allowing me to step away for a bit but I’m excited to be back! As some of you may know, this Summer has been very active! In the last several weeks I’ve had new career opportunities which had my full attention and my sister moved in with us for the Summer so I’ve been trying to spend more time with her and Lupo. If you’re familiar with my journey I’m the oldest daughter of immigrant parents and recently I've been prioritizing nurturing my inner-child and reparenting my self by redefining the narratives that no longer serve me. Shame and self-doubt that was something I carried within me for a long time. Being called things like, chillona, sin verguenza and mandona kept me playing small and develop a fear of visibility. In the last couple of years, I've been able to turn these labels into my super power.  By moving through the discomfort and leaning on my support systems, I've learned to release it in order to step into my most confident and unapologetic self.  Throughout the episode, I share tools on how I’ve been able to move through self-doubt and release the shame along my self-discovery and healing journey as a first-gen Latina entrepreneur ✨ Low sense of identity, people pleasing, fear of failure, lack of boundaries and comparison were symptoms of self-doubt that kept me me in my comfort zone and missing out on opportunities for so long. I hope this inspires you to keep going and celebrating your magic x 🦋 If any of this resonated and you want to learn more about rediscovering your most authentic self in order to show up more unapologetic on and offline, I invite you to apply for my 1:1 coaching program here:  https://calendly.com/itzycanales/claritycall?month=2022-07 Connect with me on social: @growwiththeflowpodcast @itzycanales CHECK BACK FOR NEW EPISODES EVERY OTHER THURSDAY! I'm baaaaack and I'm coming in hot with this episode where I share my experience with imposter syndrome as a women of color in the influencer industry, the coaching industry, and my full-time marketing role in higher-ed. Imposter syndrome is a common term used to describe thoughts and feelings of inadequacy and inferiority despite evident success. But what imposter syndrome fails to take into account systemic oppression failing a group of individuals instead of the other way around. When I was able to bring awareness to this, I was able to develop tools and beliefs that helped me disempower it, lead with a growth mindset and continue taking up space, unapologetically, even in those spaces that were not designed with people like me in mind. I hope this episode inspires you to move with a little more confidence in your everyday life and recognize that a little self-doubt is normal. Especially when you're breaking ceilings and disrupting the status norms. Because the truth is, no one really knows what they’re doing. We're all doing things afraid and insecure but that's not a reason to not give yourself the credit that you deserve and honor the state of growth. If you believed you were good enough today, what would you do differently? What would I do if I knew I may fail and STILL be okay? Int his episode, I share my experience of being a 9-5 professional and entrepreneur with ADHD. Work in my 9-5 has always been challenging for multiple reasons: Being a WOC in a predominantly white space Having ADHD and anxiety and depression as part of those symptoms Being multi-passionate and creating a side-hustle that fuels my creativity You mix all of that together and some days you want to choose to surrender. The thing is that these systems like higher education and a typical corporate job, among many other areas, were not designed for our way of thinking. Listen along as I share tools to help you navigate more confidently, redefine success, and get your power back in these spaces. On this episode, I share tangible to tools on how I built confidence in my everyday life. by taking up space in spaces I felt safe, trying things out of my comfort zone, asking for what I needed, following through with the commitments I've made for myself to build self-trust, becoming aware of my thoughts and stories I tell myself and embracing my imperfections.  My imperfections make me human, they make me connected, my life lessons make me qualified to help others, they make me enough and I believe it. I know that perfection is subjective and I can’t control what other people think but I can start by being happy and celebrating where we are right now and the versions of ourselves that got us to today. Everyone started somewhere but what matters is that they started. They pushed through the discomfort and simply trusted that they had their own back. When you start developing this self-trust and internal validation, radical self-love, everything else begins to align and you make more room for the things that serve you.  The right partner, more business opportunities, more financial growth, better friendships and so on.  This sh*t is hard and uncomfortable especially if you've had a wounded past that has taken the self-confidence away from you but everything that you’re working towards ends up outweighing discomfort so keep going and prove it to yourself by the small wins. That’s where the magic is. The more you start listening to yourself, the more aligned you will feel with your highest, most authentic self.
