Shweta Ramkumar is a woman of color (southern Asian) and has shared her childfree journey on several podcasts, YouTube channels, and was a panelist at the 2021 International Childfree Convention. Shweta describes the culture in which she comes from as sexiest, patriarchal, conservative and religious - where women have no worth unless they are wives and mothers. A self-identified "black sheep", Shweta broke free from the conformity and decided to speak out against the womanhood = motherhood narrative which runs rampant in the southern Asian culture.
In this bonus episode, Shweta shares a powerful message about her journey, experiences, support from family, and her advocacy work as a proud childfree woman and anti-natalist. In addition, she also highlights the consequences that some southern Asian women experience such as shame, humiliation, and being cut off from their families for their choice.
