In late 2025 and early 2026, the conversation around the "AI threat" to the Australian workforce shifted from theoretical warnings to a major policy pivot within the Labor government. Ed Husic, who was a primary architect of Australia's proposed AI regulations, has recently moved from the Industry and Science portfolio.
