With the recent news concerning Shawn Bolz and Bethel Church being brought to light, new disturbing allegations have been exposed surrounding Bethel's prophetic director, Ben Armstrong. These allegations deal with clergy sexual misconduct and what appears to be grooming tactics. One of the things mentioned by a former BSSM student was a past teaching from Ben Armstrong, instructing women to redeem their menstrual cycles by realizing that prophetic revelation is heightened during that time. The doctrine surrounding the need for impartation in order to receive an anointing is a prominent teaching within the hyper charismatic and the NAR. High profile leaders are viewed as having a special anointing for healing, deliverance, and other demonstrations of perceived power. With the recent developments surrounding Mike Winger's extensive video covering Shawn Bolz and Bethel's responses to the confirmed allegations and actions, there has been a mixture of responses and perspectives pertaining to Bethel and its leadership. While many are rightfully troubled and even angered at Bethel's lack of response to this situation, others are continuing to support and defend Bethel. Some are hopeful that Bethel will bring needed reform to their organization and that this is the starting point. However, does this one act of seeming repentance fix the deep-seated issues that have produced a massive root system of false teaching and aberrant practices? Online access to information has its benefits and drawbacks. Though we can obtain information at the touch of a button, we can also be influenced and misinformed as to spiritual matters. False teachers and false prophets have seemingly flourished online, and now that individuals are questioning such practices and teachings, they are experiencing the disadvantage of growing Biblical discernment. Every day, children go missing due to running away or being kidnapped and trafficked. The modern deliverance movement teaches about various spirits in operation that are alleged in Scripture. These demonic entities are named after Biblical people such as Judas, Absalom, Leviathan, and Jezebel.
