Description

We are Jackye Clayton and Katee Van Horn- two diversity, equity, & inclusion peeps who love both what we have in common, and what makes us different. During the day we use our superpowers to block bias and end systemic racism within companies and create equitable places to work.

We are also BFFs who have tough conversations about our different lived experiences. And we hold nothing back! Launched in 2020, the Inclusive AF Podcast is a place where you get to hear real, authentic, and sometimes tough discussions on issues that are important to various communities. We will also bring in cool friends to share their insights on issues facing underrepresented groups and how to make a difference in the diversity, equity, and inclusion space. You are invited to listen in on our talks and join the conversation!

We are all about being Inclusive AF on each episode and ask you to do the same when you take our lessons to your own communities. Thank you for listening!

Jackye and Katee talk money in this episode, and water bottles and cough drops. Sexy stuff, we know! The episode digs into how to think about charging for your expertise when you are a speaker, panelist, and/or consultant. Plus what to remember to have in your backpack at all times when you are attending the gig! For event organizers and those seeking experts, we also share some reasons why asking folks to do this work for free isn't okay. I mean... we both have new puppies so we needed to start off by discussing the fun of our new family members. But then we actually get to workplace harassment and how that is impacting Activision Blizzard. This story is horrific and the impacts on employees will be long-lasting. Listen in to learn more. In this episode, Katee flies solo to talk to Wil Shelton, author of "Silent Agreement" which relates the corporate experience for people of color to a boxing ring. The book and the stories from Wil shed some light on the silent agreements that are made at work and why they do not serve people of color. Have a listen! In this episode, Jackye and Katee explore some of the ways that the world has been designed to exclude way too many people. Cars, medicines, jobs, and so many more have been designed with a male being the first and sometimes only consideration. When half of the world's population is women, that becomes a problem. Listen in to learn more! A few of the examples we use in this episode come from a great book by Caroline Criado Perez, "Invisible Women". We encourage you to read the book to learn even more! It doesn't matter if you have diversity if folks don't have a voice. If you have an inclusive environment where folks can thrive, you will find diverse candidates. Do you give the right tools to your folks and differentiate between diversity and inclusion or just make them one word? Let's discuss!
