TRIGGER WARNING: Please be advised that today's episode discusses topics such as anxiety, depression, and suicide.  On today's episode of the Scout Team, join the guys and their very special guest, Matt Ravida, as they talk about mental health issues in the sports they love, share experiences, and talk about how to overcome some of life's challenges. The guys bring Matt on to the show to discuss his involvement with Bell Lets Talk Day, which is fast approaching. They begin the conversation with Matt opening up about his personal struggles and how he worked through them. The guys then transition to a conversation about mental health in professional athletes.  After that, the guys then turn their attention to Championship Weekend and make predictions for this past week's games in the NFL playoffs.  Finally, Producer Will gives us his weekly Quick Hits and rounds out the show with recent headlines. Don't forget to follow the show on either Spotify or Apple Podcasts, and check out the guys on Instagram for more great content throughout the week @scoutteampodcast
This weeks show sees the guys take a deep dive into some trade talk, discussing both the NBA and NFL in this light, as well as a discussion on the NHL, too. The show begins with the guys discussing the enormous James Harden trade, trying desperately to figure out what his weight loss program was so they can market it for personal gain. Justin reminds everyone that he called this trade package on the show weeks ago, and demands that the Rockets give him a job. The guys then revisit their NFL playoff brackets to see who is still in good shape. As of right now, it looks like Tristan has taken the lead. Fresh off of being right about Harden, Justin predicts that Jalen Ramsey will clamp Davantae Adams and put him in the child's seat, en route to a Rams victory... His bracket is busted. The guys stick with the NFL chatter and discuss the Deshaun Watson story, shifting from one disgruntled super star (Harden) to another one who wants out of Houston. This is followed up by a Leafs update as Brendan and Producer Will see no need to panic this early in the NHL season. However, they do seem to yearn for the days when David Clarkson patrolled the ice for the blue and white. After the hockey talk wrapped up, Justin gives a colourful review of the worst hip hop song of all time, Corvette Corvette, and its official spokesperson, Juju Smith-Schuster. As always, Producer Will then closed out the show with some quick hits, wrapping up the week that was in sports.
The guys take a deep dive into the NFL this week, and mix it up a little bit with some MLB talk in light of the offseason being in full swing. The show begins with the guys making their NFL playoff bracket predictions. Follow along to see who gets the most predictions correct. They also discuss whose legacy would benefit the most from winning a Super Bowl this year. Then they shift their focus to Doug Pederson, and actually manage to have a full conversation on the topic instead of quitting three quarters of the way through. One of our hosts stays firm in his defence of the New England Patriots not being cheaters, not sure if all our team agrees. Then the conversation shifts over to the MLB and a preview of the Blue Jays' season. What are the guys' thoughts on missing out on Lindor? As always, Producer Will finishes up the show with some Quick Hits from the week that passed.
The guys return from their Holiday Hiatus and drag Producer Will out from behind the curtain to discuss the NFL, NHL, and College Football. The guys begin with the NFL, discussing the J-E-T-S and how they absolutely gift-wrapped the Jaguars a generational talent in Trevor Lawrence (spoiler, one of our hosts is VERY excited about this development). The guys then segue into a discussion about the College Football Playoffs and whether or not the rules should have been bent to allow the Ohio State Buckeyes to get a playoff berth.  After that, the conversation turns to the NHL for the first time during the podcasts brief history, and Producer Will jumps into a conversation about the Maple Leafs off-season acquisitions and whether or not they are the team to beat in the Canadian Conference. This episode also saw the introduction of the show's very first "segment", where Yoshi, Tristan and Producer Will took turns quizzing Justin and JC on 'hockey talk' to see who could guess the meanings of the most hockey colloquialisms.  Finally, Producer Will wraps up the show with some quick hits, keeping us up to date on some of the latest headlines. Don't forget to follow the show on either Spotify of Apple Podcasts, and to check the guys out on Instagram for more great content throughout the week @scoutteampodcast
On today's episode, join the guys for a jam-packed show with more topics covered than ever before, as they discuss the NBA and NFL. The guys begin with the NFL, discussing what the Eagles' victory over the Saints last week means for Carson Wentz. Our hosts recall JC's comments about "Walking through those bums". Switching gears, the guys then talk about the ongoing James Harden, aka the Strip Club King, and what the latest updates mean for his tenure in Houston. The conversation then turns to Giannis' massive extension to stay in Milwaukee and how that impacts the Bucks as well as the other teams who wre hoping to sign him in FA. After this, the pawns at the Scout Team discuss Kyrie's ongoing beef with the media and whether or not he will be able to cleanse his demons in time to dominate the season. Switching back to the NFL, they then discuss the epic duel between the Browns and Ravens from last week, chatting about whether either team's starting QB is the real deal and if either squad can make a playoff run this year. Finally, the guys wrap up their NBA talk by discussing whether or not Jerry West knows how to use ANY technology, as they unpack his alleged voicemail trying to recruit Kawhi. To end the show, Producer Will once again provides us with some quick hits from the week, keeping us appraised of the latest headlines.  Don't forget to follow the show on either Spotify or Apple Podcasts, and to check the guys out on Instagram for more great content throughout the week @scoutteampodcast
On today's episode, join the Scout Team and their very special guest, Anoke, as they ditch the stats and jump into their feelings and opinions, with discussions on boxing, the NBA, NFL, and more. The guys begin the show by diving straight into ESPN's pre-season NBA rankings, dissecting the top-end of the list and letting you know what they feel the "experts" got right (which wasn't much), and what they most definitely got wrong.  After relegating ESPN's list to the trash, the guys move on to sorting through Philly's garbage, debating whether Carson Wentz needs a new forever home, or if he is destined for the scrap heap. Speaking of players that might benefit from a change of scenery, the guys then unpacked the latest developments in the James Harden saga, debating whether Harden will be willing to go to Miami and trade in strip clubs for fitness clubs, or if the Sixers would be a better fit. The team then turns their attention to the world of boxing, discussing whether the Mayweather/Paul fight is a good thing for the sport, or if the boxing community needs to throw in the towel and switch over to the MMA. As the NFL season begins to wind down, the guys noticed a number of compelling storylines surrounding the league's receiving leaders, and they discuss who they think will end the season with the most yards, and what that means for the league. Finally, Producer Will breaks his radio silence and speaks to the masses, taking exception to Kyrie's recent media shenanigans, shutting down the young King's Gambit to end the show. Don't forget to follow the show on either Spotify or Apple Podcasts, and to check the guys out on Instagram for more great content throughout the week @scoutteampodcast
On today's episode, join the Scout Team as they "take some shots" at pro athletes, with discussions on celebrity boxing, the NBA, NFL, and more. The guys begin the show by discussing the recent celebrity/charity boxing matches between Tyson and Jones Jr. and Paul and Robinson. The guys discuss how time, reflection, and weed has changed Iron Mike to become more of a male role-model, while at least one of our hosts thinks that Jake Paul could learn a thing or two from Mike's transformation. They then trade blows in a deeply personal argument regarding who is to blame for the Buccaneers' struggles this year; Tom Terrific, or Air it out Arians. Luckily, no co-hosts were harmed in the making of this segment, but it came close. After the NFL heavyweight debate was over, the guys jumped into some NBA talk, discussing the trade that sent Russell Westbrook to the Wizards, and the exciting NBA Christmas Day schedule. As much as the guys would have loved to have seen the Raps play on Christmas, they think there's a good reason they didn't make the cut. Finally, the guys wrap up the show with some current events, and start to game plan for their next episode. Stay tuned for next week's episode to see who is joining the guys for Episode Four! Don't forget to follow the show on either Spotify of Apple Podcasts, and to check out the guys on Instagram for more great content throughout the week @scoutteampodcast
Episode Two - Loosen Up!

Episode Two - Loosen Up!

2020-11-3001:01:42

On today's episode, join the Scout Team as they "loosen up" and let their personalities show with some lively discussions about the NBA, NFL and more.  The guys begin the show by making their predictions for some key NFL awards such as who should win MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, Offensive Rookie of the Year, and Comeback Player of the Year. While some NFL awards seem like they're already locked up, others are up for grabs. But will particular players be able to hold onto some hardware?  They then switch gears and jump back into some NBA offseason talk, discussing some of the key losses and additions that the Raptors have undergone over the past couple of seasons, the Klay Thompson injury, and some of the latest key offseason signings that have gone down this past week. After the NBA chatter, the guys switch back to some football talk, discussing what they think will happen first - The Jets winning a game or the Steelers losing a game, which quickly turns into a rant about a young star player on one of those two teams that you won't want to miss. Finally, the guys wrap up the show with some current events as they look forward to next week's episode already. Don't forget to follow the show on either Spotify or Apple Podcasts, and to check out the guys on Instagram for more great content throughout the week @scoutteampodcast
On today's episode, join the Scout Team as they launch their show by digging deep into the NBA's fast-paced and exciting start to the offseason, and reminisce about what the NFL could have looked like in the second half of the season if the NFL trade deadline carried the same energy that the NBA's offseason has thus far.  The guys begin the show with a discussion on the implications of the shortest offseason in NBA history, talking about the increased potential for injuries, chemistry concerns, and what we can expect from teams this season. They then pivot to the most impactful trades and free agent signings that have gone down thus far, discussing everything from which trades could potentially alter the NBA landscape (or simply reinforce the juggernaut that is the Lakers), to which players got overpaid (Gordon Hayward, anybody?).  Finally, the guys then wrap up an NBA-packed first episode with a lively discussion about some entertaining, albeit potentially far-fetched NFL trades, (listen as they mix in a little GOAT talk and chat about what Dak would look like in a Niners uniform) and even chat about some of the suggestions that their listeners provided via Instagram. Don't forget to follow the show here on Spotify, and to check the guys out on Instagram for more great content throughout the week @scoutteampodcast
