Me and Eating Disorder Therapist Sarah Speers developed our eating disorders working at the same place.
Our paths went in different directions after that, and she first went the clinical route, where there is still widespread belief that binge eating and eating disorders are unfixable. (We discuss why this notion is 100% false, BTW.)
In this episode, Sarah and I cover:
👉 Why many of us start binge eating in the first place
👉 Why the majority of eating disorder treatment fails
👉 The hidden advantage that emotional eaters have
👉 Healing food issues on the physical, emotional, and soul levels
👉 How to ensure that you have a full, successful recovery from binge eating and emotional eating

Looking back, I’ve figured out the 5 smartest things I did that helped me end binge eating permanently.
In this podcast episode, I’ll be talking about the very first thing that made a GIANT difference for me with food.
It all had to do with what I stopped focusing on, and what I started focusing on instead. This one mindset shift was one of the best things I could have done for myself, and now I use it in every other area of my life.
Listen to this episode, and start to make this shift for yourself!
The next 4 episodes will focus on the other 4 smartest things I did to end binge eating permanently!

If you think the reason you can’t stop binge eating is because of lack of willpower, think again.
Weirdly enough, I’ve found that willpower is actually a huge part of the *problem* — not the solution!
In this episode, I explain why willpower won’t keep your binges away, and what to do instead.

Why do you keep falling off the wagon?
“I was being so good! I stuck to my plan 100%. But then XYZ happened, and that one little thing opened the floodgates, and now I can’t stop binge eating. I undid all my hard work and ruined everything.”
Sound familiar?
In today’s episode, I’ll discuss the hidden force that’s making you fall off the wagon again and again, and how to overcome this problem permanently.

Before you step on the scale for the 1000th time, listen to this episode.
I used to be 100% certain that weighing myself helped me be in control of my eating.
I then discovered the truth about the scale — and that weighing myself was harming me more than helping me. With this shift around the scale, I changed my eating faster than ever before.

When compulsion is driving your eating, all the willpower in the world isn’t enough.
That’s because even though you *logically* know that you DON’T want to binge, all that logic is overridden by that strong, mysterious force compelling you to binge.
So once the food urges creep in, all your logic and willpower don’t stand a chance against deeply-rooted compulsion.
If you feel your willpower hasn’t been enough to combat these food compulsions, we’re going to talk about the piece you’re likely missing.
Tune in!
PS On Friday January 20, 2023, I’ll be guiding you through a process to help you get to the bottom of your compulsion with food. Join me for this rare opportunity – I usually only go this deep with my private clients!
During SHIFT, I’ll help you shift away from compulsion with food in just 2 hours.
Note: SHIFT isn’t about just helping you intellectually understand “how.” We’ll spend a small portion on the “how,” but the majority of the 2-hour intensive will be actual PRACTICE so you can physically FEEL a shift away from compulsion.
Once you feel this shift, you can’t “unsee” it – and you’ll see that there is hope to end this compulsion with food, permanently.
Registration for SHIFT is open until January 19, 2023.

"What if I need to restrict my food for health reasons?"
I often receive different variations of this same question, such as:
"I know restricting myself causes binges, but I really need to lose weight. How can lose weight without restricting?"
"My doctor told me I need to avoid these certain foods ... how do I not eat them without restricting myself?"
"I am gluten-sensitive. How do I avoid gluten without restricting myself?"
"I am diabetic. How can I follow these food rules without feeling restricted?"
All of these questions have the same answer.
If you have this same question yourself, tune in.

Why do most people stay stuck, while a small percentage of people succeed?
Why do most people stay binge eaters for their whole lives, while others are able to heal, move on, and live their life fully?
Let's talk about a hidden mindset habit that the top 1% take to heart.
In all my years of coaching, this mindset habit is shared by every successful person I've seen.
And not only do they think it in their mind, but they feel it in their bones. They embrace it in their heart. They know it in their soul.

Struggling with nighttime eating?
Nighttime food struggles can show up in a variety of ways:
- After dinner, you feel like you can’t stop eating
- At the end of the day when it’s time to unwind, the food floodgates open
- You stick with your eating plan all day, but then you binge at night
- Nighttime is your “me” time to numb out, and as soon as you’re alone, you binge
These are just a few examples. However your nighttime eating looks, tune in for this episode.

5 mins in and still talking about nothing. Also, vocal fry and smacking mouth sounds for those of you who are triggered by such things.
