In our final episode of the season, Rachel, Andy and Kelly shared about their experience in taking the Better Love marriage assessment. We go over the different aspects of the assessment as well as talk about our own results and shared what it got right about our marriages. We end the episode by talking with Rachel about her role at Ada Bible Church as our Director of Women's Ministry and her vision for the ministry. Because of her responsibilities, sadly, Rachel has to step down as a host, but we are so thankful for her two years of being on the TwoGether team! Here is a link to where you can find more information on the assessment: https://www.betterlove.com/
Rachel and Kelly invited back to the podcast, Caiti and Austin Moore to give us an update on their journey as a couple and family. In the previous episode they were on in 2022, they vulnerably shared about their infertility journey. In this episode, we had an amazing update in how they were able to adopt twin boys. They shared what that journey was like and have lots of wisdom to share with those who maybe are in a similar situation with adoption. For the previous episode from 2022 that Caiti and Austin did, you can find it here: https://rss.com/podcasts/adabiblemarriages/608231/
We had the privilege of talking with Dan Seaborn, who leads Winning at Home. Samuel and Kelly with Dan had an engaging conversation about bringing us back to the basics of what a healthy marriage looks like from a biblical standpoint. Specifically, they talked about some of the false ideas our culture may have about marriage and how we can look at marriage through a biblical lens. When men support each other, what kind of positive impacts can happen in marriages and families?  In Episode 6 of this season, Andy invites Men’s Ministry Pastors Ethan Cole (Ada Bible Cascade Campus) and Vic Willis (Ada Bible Kentwood Campus) to the podcast to discuss the impacts and support men can find in a ministry setting. You’ll learn more about the importance of supportive spaces for men, Ada Bible Church’s Men’s Ministry program, and how that ministry is working to support men and improve marriages in our church.
Conflict is normal in a marriage, but how we engage in it can have either positive or devastating consequences. Today Samuel and Kelly invite back fan-favorite Matt DeHoog to talk about the Drama Triangle, a relational paradigm in which we can shift between three roles, Persecutor, Rescuer, and Victim, all held in place by guilt and blame. This an episode that you might want to have a notebook handy, because we talk about these dysfunctional dynamics that can pop up in your relationship or marriage and we share how you can fix them.
Today we invited the counselor Peter DeHaan to talk about all the different ways he does marriage counseling. This was a valuable conversation in which Peter shares about motivational interviewing, working with couples with addictions, and some other facets of his ways in working with couples. A really important segment of the episode was when Peter addressed the stages of change - this was helpful when thinking about our own relationships and how we can make them better.
Both Sarah and Ryan are key leaders in our Thrive and Lifeline ministries and we get to hear their powerful marriage story. Starting out as high school sweethearts, they thought they had it all until the challenging aspects of life caught up to them. By staying committed and getting help, they were able to rebuild their marriage. A key marking point for them was saying yes to a relationship with God and learning about the blessing of serving others. This is a must listen!
Co-dependence is a term used a lot today, but what is the difference between a connected couple and a co-dependent one? In this episode, Andy sits down with author, speaker, and pastor John Eklund to dive into the intricacies of co-dependency, how to identify it, and some tips on avoiding it in your marriage. You’ll enjoy John’s engaging stories while he breaks down this complex topic.

It's a new season of TwoGether! One of our favorite things to do when we interview couples is that we ask each of them to share on the episode what they love about their spouse. This has been a powerful way to end each episode and each of the couples walk away blessed to do this exercise. In this episode, the team highlights some ways in which you can do this on a regular basis and we give you specific ideas in how you can give your husband or wife the gift of your words.
What a privilege it was to interview Pastor Jeff and Chris Manion for our final episode this season. This was one of the more vulnerable interviews we have had with a couple. Jeff and Chris share some of the challenges they have faced and things they have learned in their 40 years of marriage and ministry. There is much to take away from this episode so make sure to have something handy to take notes.

They say opposites attract, but what does that really mean for a marriage?
