Scripture Reading: Genesis 41:37-46
n this Daily Devotions episode, Pastor David Sumrall draws a leadership principle from the life of Joseph.
When Joseph was promoted to govern all of Egypt, his authority was publicly established. Yet he did not begin by celebrating or issuing orders. His first action was to inspect the land and understand what had been placed under his responsibility.
Before leading, we must learn. True leadership begins with understanding what we have been entrusted with.

2025 1 Timothy 4:13 Project
Scripture Reading: Proverbs 4:14–15 (NLT)
Don’t do as the wicked do, and don’t follow the path of evildoers.
Don’t even think about it; don’t go that way.
Turn away and keep moving.
In today’s devotional, we are reminded to be intentional about who influences our lives. In a world where many people seek attention, followers, and influence simply for profit, Scripture calls us to a higher standard. Not everyone who is famous is worthy of being followed. Popularity, talent, wealth, or success do not equal character. Proverbs warns us clearly: do not imitate the ways of the wicked, and do not allow their lifestyle to shape your choices. God calls us to turn away from ungodly influences and keep moving forward toward the life He has prepared for us. Our values, decisions, and direction should be shaped by godly examples, not by trends, celebrities, or personalities seeking attention or income. At some point, we must stop being influenced by the world and choose to follow Jesus wholeheartedly.

2025 1 Timothy 4:13 Project
Scripture Reading: Psalm 105:17–19 (NLT) | Genesis 39:2 (NLT)
The Lord was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did as he served in the home of his Egyptian master.
Even as a slave, God’s presence was evident in Joseph’s life. Everything he managed prospered, not because of position, but because of God’s presence and Joseph’s integrity. Even as a slave, God’s presence was evident in Joseph’s life. Everything he managed prospered, not because of position, but because of God’s presence and Joseph’s integrity.
When temptation came, Joseph chose righteousness over comfort, integrity over promotion, and obedience over compromise. God delayed the fulfillment of the dream, but He never removed His presence.
As we move toward the future God has prepared for us, our character will be tested. Destiny is never rushed, but character is always examined. God is faithful. If we remain faithful, the dream will come in His time.

2025 1 Timothy 4:13 Project
Genesis 36:6–8 (NLT)
Then Esau took his wives, his sons, his daughters, and all the members of his household, his livestock, all his beasts, and all the property he had acquired in the land of Canaan, and he went to a land away from his brother Jacob. For their possessions were too great for them to dwell together, and the land of their sojourning could not support them because of their livestock. So Esau settled in the hill country of Seir.
In today’s Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall reflects on Esau’s separation from Jacob and the principle of long-term planning. When starting a business—or even making major family decisions—we must consider not only the immediate resources but also whether there will be enough to sustain growth and success in the future.
Learn from Scripture how wise planning and foresight can prevent conflicts and position you for lasting success. Join Pastor Sumrall for Daily Devotions and practical, God-centered guidance for everyday life.

Genesis 34:2, 11 (NLT)
But when Shechem, the son of Hamor the Hivite, saw Dinah, he seized her and raped her.
…Then Shechem spoke to Dinah’s father and brothers: “Please be kind to me, and let me marry her. I will give you whatever you ask me.”
In today’s Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall teaches from the tragic story of Dinah, showing how sin can confuse the human brain and cloud moral judgment. Even after committing violent and sinful acts, Shechem tried to manipulate Dinah and her family, expecting kindness and acceptance.
This passage reminds us to recognize the destructive nature of sin, the lack of regard for consequences, and the importance of wisdom and discernment when dealing with those who act selfishly or immorally.

Genesis 32:9–12
In today’s Daily Devotions, we look at Jacob’s prayer during one of the most dangerous moments of his life. As he prepares to face his brother Esau, Jacob turns to God with a powerful, four-part prayer that gives us a clear pattern for praying when trouble surrounds us.
From Genesis 32, we learn how Jacob approached God in obedience, reminded Him of His promises, humbled himself before the Lord, expressed gratitude, and then boldly presented his request for protection. This prayer shows us how to stand on God’s word even when fear is real and the outcome feels uncertain.
If you are facing a difficult situation today, let this devotional will encourage you to pray with faith, humility, and confidence in God’s promises. Join us Pastor Sumrall daily as we learn how prayer can bring peace, direction, and deliverance in times of trouble.
Join Pastor Sumrall at Cathedral of Praise for Daily Devotions, and let Scripture inspire you to walk faithfully, trust God’s guidance, and impact the world through obedience.

Proverbs 3:13–18 ESV
“Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are called blessed.”
In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall reminds us that wisdom is essential for a successful life. The book of Proverbs was written to shape our thinking, guide our decisions, and influence our future. Wisdom brings joy, provision, direction, peace, and lasting fulfillment when it is embraced and applied consistently.
Join Pastor Sumrall at Cathedral of Praise for Daily Devotions and let Scripture encourage you to pursue wisdom, grow in understanding, and walk in God’s Words each day.

Genesis 26:12; 27:27–28 ESV
“And Isaac sowed in that land and reaped in the same year a hundredfold. The Lord blessed him… May God give you of the dew of heaven and of the fatness of the earth and plenty of grain and wine.”
In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall reflects on how difficult seasons can teach lasting lessons that bring strength and stability to families. Through famine and hardship, Isaac learned the value of planting and provision, and those lessons shaped the future of his family. What began as survival became a pattern of blessing passed on to the next generation.
This devotion encourages believers to reflect on what hard times have taught them. Seasons of challenge can produce wisdom, discipline, and self-sufficiency that continue to bless families long after the difficulty has passed.
Join Pastor Sumrall for Daily Devotions and let Scripture guide you toward lasting growth and provision.

2025 1 Timothy 4:13 Project
Matthew 10:37–42 ESV
“Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it… And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.”
In this Daily Devotions episode, Pastor David Sumrall draws attention to the clear conditions Jesus lays out in this passage. Every promise is connected to a choice. Loving Jesus above all, embracing God’s call, and responding with faithfulness lead to lasting reward. What we place first in our lives shapes the outcome we experience.
Join Pastor Sumrall at Cathedral of Praise for Daily Devotions, and let Scripture guide your priorities, responses, and daily walk with God.
