2025 1 Timothy 4:13 Project
Leviticus 7:12, 21, 28–30, 38 (NLT)
“If you present a peace offering to the Lord as an expression of thanksgiving… anyone who touches the meat from the peace offering presented to the Lord while ceremonially unclean must be cut off from the community… Give the following instructions to the people of Israel: When you present a peace offering to the Lord, bring part of it as a gift to the Lord. Present it to the Lord with your own hands as a special gift… These are the instructions the Lord gave Moses on Mount Sinai when he commanded the Israelites to present their offerings to the Lord in the wilderness of Sinai.”
In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall draws our attention to a simple but often-missed instruction from Leviticus 7. Again and again, the Lord tells His people to present their offerings. Not to send them. Not to pass them along through someone else. To bring them personally and place them before the Lord with their own hands.
An offering was never treated as a transaction. It was an act of honor. It was worship. God was teaching His people that approaching Him mattered, that showing up mattered, and that giving was personal. The act of bringing the offering placed the worshiper before God in humility and gratitude.
These verses remind us that giving is not meant to be distant or automatic. It is meant to be intentional. When God’s people came with their own hands, they were declaring, “Lord, I am here, and this is for You.”
Leviticus teaches us that offerings are about relationship. We do not bring them because God needs them. We bring them because honoring God matters, and worship is never meant to be impersonal.

Leviticus 5:5–11 (ESV)
“When you become aware of your guilt in any of these ways, you must confess your sin. Then you must bring to the Lord as a penalty for your sin a female from the flock, either sheep or goat. But if you cannot afford a sheep, you may bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons. If you cannot afford two turtledoves or two young pigeons, you may bring two quarts of choice flour for your sin offering.”
In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall reflects on what Leviticus teaches about offerings. God provides a way for everyone to give, regardless of their resources. Whether a sheep, two birds, or a small amount of flour, the emphasis is on the heart and the desire to honor God, not the size or value of the gift.
This passage reminds us that generosity is measured by intention, effort, and faith, not by wealth. In Church life today, believers are encouraged to give what they can, trusting that God values the heart behind the offering. Giving as an act of worship is accessible to all.

Leviticus 1:3 (ESV)
“If his offering is a burnt offering from the herd, he shall offer a male without blemish. He shall bring it to the entrance of the tent of meeting, that he may be accepted before the Lord.”
In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall reflects on what the book of Leviticus teaches us about offerings given to God. The Lord instructed His people to bring their offerings personally, to offer what was without defect, and to give with care and intention. These offerings were acts of worship, not matters of convenience, and they were to reflect honor, sincerity, and devotion to God.
This passage reminds us that what we bring before the Lord matters. God looks at the heart, the effort, and the faith behind what is offered. In Church life today, this truth calls us to approach God thoughtfully and with respect, remembering His faithfulness and responding with loyalty and gratitude, encouraging believers to honor God with intention and reverence.

Exodus 39:32, 43 (ESV)
“Thus all the work of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting was finished, and the people of Israel did according to all that the Lord had commanded Moses; so they did.”
“And Moses saw all the work, and behold, they had done it as the Lord had commanded; so had they done it. Then Moses blessed them.”
In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall points us to a clear picture of accountability in the work of God. After completing the tabernacle, the people did not resist inspection or take offense at review. Instead, they willingly brought their work to Moses and invited him to examine everything, confident they had followed the Lord’s instructions.
This passage shows that healthy leadership welcomes accountability and careful review. When work is done with integrity, inspection becomes a blessing, not a threat. In Bible and Church life today, this example teaches us that obedience, transparency, and a teachable spirit bring joy to leaders and blessing from God. This Daily Devotions message from Pastor Sumrall at Cathedral of Praise reminds us that accountability done God’s way leads to affirmation and favor.

Mark 1:21–26 (ESV)
“And they went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath he entered the synagogue and was teaching. And they were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one who had authority, and not as the scribes. And immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit. And he cried out, ‘What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God.’ But Jesus rebuked him, saying, ‘Be silent, and come out of him!’ And the unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying out with a loud voice, came out of him.”
In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall shows a moment in Capernaum where even a demon recognized who Jesus truly was. As Jesus taught with rightful authority, the powers of darkness were exposed and disrupted. The unclean spirit knew that Jesus interfered with its work, had authority over its future, and was the Holy One of God.
This passage reminds us that whenever Jesus is proclaimed, darkness is never comfortable. Truth confronts deception, and authority confronts bondage. In life today, the same Jesus still brings freedom, still interrupts what holds people captive, and still stands as the Holy One whom all must answer to. This Daily Devotions shows us who Jesus is and why His presence always changes everything.

Exodus 35:30–35 (ESV)
“Then Moses said to the people of Israel, ‘See, the Lord has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs, to work in gold, silver, and bronze, in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, for work in every skilled craft. And he has inspired him to teach, both him and Oholiab the son of Ahisamach of the tribe of Dan. He has filled them with skill to do every sort of work done by an engraver or by a designer or by an embroiderer in blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen, or by a weaver—by any sort of workman or skilled designer.’”
In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall teaches us a truth that is often overlooked in the book of Exodus. God not only filled Bezalel with wisdom, skill, and craftsmanship, but He also gave him the ability to teach others what God had placed in him.
This passage shows that the work of the Spirit is not limited to talent alone. God gives ability, and He also gives responsibility. Those who are gifted are called to pass those gifts on, raising others to serve well and work with excellence.
This Daily Devotions teaching from Pastor Sumrall speaks directly to Church life today. When God entrusts us with skill and understanding, He also calls us to invest in the next generation and teach others what He has taught us.

Exodus 34:1–3 (ESV)
“The Lord said to Moses, ‘Cut for yourself two tablets of stone like the first, and I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke. Be ready by the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself there to me on the top of the mountain. No one shall come up with you, and let no one be seen throughout all the mountain. Let no flocks or herds graze opposite that mountain.’”
In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall reflects on Exodus 33 and 34 and focuses on God’s instruction to Moses to “present yourself to Me.” After failure, delay, and disappointment, the Lord did not reject Moses. Instead, He called him back into His presence with accountability and purpose.
This passage shows us that leadership begins and is sustained in personal time before God. Moses was required to come alone, prepared, and ready to stand before the Lord. The same pattern is seen throughout Scripture, where leaders regularly return to God to give an account of what they have done and taught.
This devotional from Daily Devotions at Cathedral of Praise encourages pastors, leaders, and servants in the church to regularly present themselves before God, not for performance, but for faithfulness. In Bible teaching and Church life, lasting leadership is shaped in moments of surrender and obedience before the Lord.

Exodus 32:1–2, 25 (ESV)
“When the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron and said to him, ‘Up, make us gods who shall go before us. As for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.’
…
And when Moses saw that the people had broken loose (for Aaron had let them break loose, to the derision of their enemies)…
In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall teaches from Exodus 32 and highlights the difference between weak leadership and strong leadership. When Moses was delayed on the mountain, Aaron responded to pressure instead of holding to what God had said. By giving the people what they wanted, he allowed confusion and disorder to take over.
The result was not only idolatry, but public shame as Israel became a source of ridicule to those watching from the outside. When Moses returned, strong leadership had to step in to restore order and deal with the consequences of compromise.
This passage reminds us that leadership is not about pleasing people or avoiding conflict. Whether in the home, the church, or any place of responsibility, God calls leaders to follow Him and lead others toward what is right, even when it is difficult.

Exodus 29:44–46 (NLT)
“Yes, I will consecrate the Tabernacle and the altar, and I will consecrate Aaron and his sons to serve me as priests.
Then I will live among the people of Israel and be their God.
And they will know that I am the Lord their God. I am the one who brought them out of the land of Egypt so that I could live among them. I am the Lord their God.”
In this Old Testament devotional from Exodus 29, we see a beautiful and consistent truth about God’s heart: God wants to be with His people. After consecrating the tabernacle, the altar, and the priests, the Lord makes His purpose unmistakably clear. He did not deliver Israel from Egypt only to give them laws or rituals. He brought them out so that He could live among them and be their God.
From the Garden of Eden to the wilderness tabernacle and all the way to today, God’s desire has always been fellowship with people. This truth can be hard to grasp. Why would a holy God want to dwell with imperfect people? The answer is simple. Love. Just as love is the reason two people choose to be together, love is the reason God chooses to be with us.
God’s presence among Israel was not accidental or temporary. It was intentional, relational, and rooted in His love. In the same way, God still desires to be with His people today. He has chosen to love us, and that love is the reason He draws near.

Exodus 28:29 (NLT)
“In this way, Aaron will carry the names of the tribes of Israel over his heart when he goes into the Holy Place. This will be a continual reminder that he represents the people when he comes before the Lord.”
In this Old Testament devotional, Pastor David Sumrall points us to a powerful picture of leadership and prayer found in the priestly ministry of Aaron. God instructed that the names of the twelve tribes be carried over the priest’s heart as he entered the presence of the Lord. This was not symbolic decoration. It was a constant reminder that coming before God was never about self, but about representing the people.
This passage teaches us that true pastoral and spiritual prayer has no room for selfishness. Whether as pastors, parents, group leaders, or servants in any role, entering God’s presence means carrying others on our hearts. Leadership before God is not about personal requests, platforms, or performance, but about standing in prayer for those entrusted to us.
Even when other forms of ministry are limited, prayer remains the greatest work a leader can do. As Aaron bore the names of the people over his heart, so leaders today are called to bring the needs, burdens, and lives of others before the Father with faithfulness and love.
