This story is about Ashleigh who has had two rare life-altering health experiences, 15 years apart. Her journey began when she was just 13 years old, when overnight she went from the epitome of health to a four-year journey of fighting for her life. She became so sick that some nights she would force herself to stay awake, afraid that if she went to sleep, her body wouldn’t make it through the night. These long nights were when she began to understand and experience the intricate mind-body connection. It was a long journey, but she defied all odds, and everything she was told she would never do, she did! She became an elite athlete, TV & Broadway star, entrepreneur, keynote speaker, and a mother. First, she lost her father in a boating accident when she was just 12 years old. Then in her 20's she lost her brother in a car accident. This story is about Jeffrey and when his best friend was 10 years old, Christopher, his mother, and father were tragically killed by a drunk driver. Jeffrey was devastated. What was the meaning of his death? During his sorrow, his grandmother took him to the National Portrait Gallery to see a new exhibit honoring the Roosevelts and looking at the statue of Eleanor Roosevelt his grandmother whispered her words to him: "When you cease to make a contribution, you begin to die." These words impacted him so much, and from that day forward he made a promise to himself and to Christopher's memory -- who was an inspiration in helping others -- that everything he would do would have some level of contribution. This story is about April who found herself as a divorced single mom with a 3 month old baby girl. Her boss gave her the funds to go back and do her first semester of college! She graduated in accounting. During this time she was able to build a home with Habitat for Humanity. She got a job at an accounting firm.
