In the realm of personal and professional growth, the concept of abundant thinking stands tall as a transformative force. In this episode, Adam Spencer and Bryan Santos delve into the crucial distinction between abundant thinking and scarcity or lack mindset thinking. They explore the reasons behind their discussion and emphasize the importance of language in shaping our thoughts. Rather than being consumed by what is lacking, it becomes paramount to redirect our attention towards what we truly desire. This shift in focus, accompanied by empowering questions and a solutions-oriented approach, paves the way for breaking free from the confinements of a scarcity mindset. Cultivating self-awareness through practices such as journaling allows us to delve into our thoughts and emotions. This process unveils patterns, enabling us to gain a profound understanding of our mindset. Such introspection becomes a catalyst for personal growth and a springboard towards embracing abundance. Recognizing our past decisions without judgment is a pivotal step in this transformative journey. Approaching ourselves with compassion and extending forgiveness for past limitations is essential. Through this self-compassion, we lay the foundation for embracing an abundant mindset. As we challenge the limitations imposed by scarcity mindset thinking, we open ourselves to a world of possibilities. By shifting our focus towards what we desire, taking control of our actions, cultivating self-awareness, and practicing self-compassion, we awaken the dormant power within us. The journey towards abundant thinking is one of personal growth, fulfillment, and the realization of our true potential. Cash flow emerges as a top challenge, affecting both personal and business realms. Growing up with financial struggles can contribute to these issues. The key question is: How can we reprogram ourselves and make necessary changes?. In today’s episode, Adam talks about the importance of mindset reprogramming, prioritizing profitability, and implementing effective money management practices with Bryan Santos. Business owners often believe that securing more clients and assembling the right team will solve their financial problems. However, even with these in place, cash shortages persist. So why continue working if profits are insufficient? While making an impact is important, financial stability matters. Being self-employed sometimes means paying oneself less than one would earn working for others. Business owners expect their hard work to yield financial rewards, but often revenue increases without corresponding profits. To address this, a shift from focusing solely on generating revenue to effective money management is crucial. Ignoring financial management blinds business owners to their true financial status. The "she'll be right" mentality fails to provide a clear understanding of the business. Transitioning from a tradesperson to a business owner requires a mindset change, as emotional attachment and a lack of cost awareness can hinder progress. Starting a business requires factoring in future expenses, such as new staff, higher wages, and equipment replacement costs. Hidden costs, if not accounted for, can jeopardize the business's success. Regularly reviewing financial numbers and seeking help when needed are essential. Understanding your business's financial health ensures better financial outcomes. Gain valuable insights and practical tips to address your financial challenges. Don't miss out—tune in today! In the world of business, the ego plays a significant role in our decisions and interactions. When used wisely, it can be a driving force for success. However, if left unchecked, it can lead to conflicts and hinder progress. This week’s episode with Adam and Bryan explores the impact of ego in business and emphasizes the importance of self-awareness in harnessing its power effectively. The ego represents our self-image, self-esteem, and desire for recognition and success. It can motivate and drive us, but it can also become a source of conflict and arrogance. We must evaluate the origin of our decisions—are they driven by logical considerations or ego-driven desires? Striving for rational decision-making helps separate ego from sound judgment. In both personal and business relationships, it's important to prioritize what truly matters and avoid unnecessary conflicts fueled by ego. Questioning the importance of certain issues allows us to focus on growth and well-being. Tune in to gain valuable insights on how to navigate the impact of ego in your entrepreneurial journey. Her experiences in a male-dominated field led her to join Mates in Construction as a field officer, where she supports individuals through suicide intervention skills. Business owners need to create boundaries to have work-life balance, but it can be difficult when the business is their sole income. Sheffield emphasizes the importance of understanding that small business owners are responsible for their own work, invoices and chasing money. Mates in Construction is making an impact on people's mental health and well-being, and Sheffield believes that it is important to break down the stigma surrounding mental health in the industry. Today’s conversation between our hosts Adam Spencer and Matt Carter from Mates in Construction sheds light on the importance of addressing mental health in the construction industry. Matt Carter's personal story of struggling with poor mental health and witnessing the devastating impact it can have on individuals in the construction industry highlights the critical need for increased awareness and support for mental health. In this month-long series of mental health awareness, our hosts, Adam Spencer and Bryan Santos, are here again to unravel the dangers of sacrificing your health for business wealth based on their real-life experiences. We were once the most hardworking business owners, working 12-14 hour shifts, pulling all-nighters and destroying our mental health without realizing it. We always want to achieve great success, but we are slowly burning ourselves out physically and mentally. When we're so focused on building our businesses and achieving our goals, we often forget about the compounding effect that happens. We don't realize that the brain needs the most energy and support and that our bodies will borrow and destroy things everywhere, including the brain. Ownership is recognizing that you're burning out. Accept the reality of your situation and move on from that. Change your language to describe yourself from "I'm suffering from depression" to "I'm going to work towards improving my life and taking those steps that allowed me to get the help I needed". It's a challenging road, and getting back to baseline functionality takes time. But prioritizing self-care and getting the help you need is essential. Take the time to listen to this episode and learn from our hosts’ experiences. It could make a significant difference in your life and business. There's also a powerful reminder that we all must be accountable for our actions and decisions. As business owners or leaders, we often focus on our client's success, but it's important to remember that they are the ones who ultimately control their success. We can only guide and support them along the way. So, if you're feeling stuck or disempowered, it's time to change the questions you're asking yourself. Instead of wondering why things are happening to you, start asking how you can fix them. And if you need help figuring out where to start, contact us and let's discuss. If you know someone who could use a little push in the right direction, please share this podcast with them. Let's all take ownership and accountability for our success! Good news! Our host Adam Spencer and co-host Brian Santos, teach you how to quote and price your jobs effectively. They provide a calculator and break down what you need to charge, which can be daunting for some people.
