I don't think that guy has ever had severe depression before. because saying "give it another day" is almost as insulting and as completely unrealistic and non-helpful as saying "snap out of it" or "do it for your family," or "choose to be happy." None of those things work for the truly depressed, and are extremely insensitive and insulting.
