What if the world’s most elite pilots and astronauts aren’t just highly trained, but perceptive in ways science still struggles to explain?
In this episode of Mayim Bialik's Breakdown, Dr. Iya Whiteley—Aviation & Space Psychologist and founder of Cosmic Baby Academy—reveals why the cognition of pilots and astronauts differs fundamentally, and what their mental wiring can teach us about intuition, creativity, consciousness, and extrasensory perception.
We explore why they’re often driven more by curiosity and creativity than fear or ambition—and why so many are artists or musicians. Dr. Whiteley explains how safety-critical environments sharpen awareness, yet make experts reluctant to share the intuitive or “non-rational” roots of their decisions.
From martial arts and embodied intelligence to the idea that intellect may live in the muscles (not just the brain), we unpack how heightened presence allows some to anticipate movement, energy, or events beyond the five senses. Could this explain why experts are studied to understand ESP, even when they can’t explain it?
Dr. Iya Whiteley breaks down:
- Reports of extrasensory perception in extreme situations
- Spherical awareness, synesthesia, psi abilities, and other heightened perception
- Why intuition becomes harder to access once we try to explain it
- How rigid rules suppress expertise, isolate experts, and block knowledge transfer
- Why fear of having our minds “read” may motivate us to clear negative thoughts (& what that says about thought’s power)
- Whether mindsets create change, or environments respond to mindset
- How internal organs & physiological responses differ in pilots & astronauts
- Family Constellation Therapy: what it is & how it works
- Childbirth visions & pre-birth communication during pregnancy & birth
- Synchronicity & meaningful coincidences: how they form lifelong patterns
The conversation extends into the UAP/extraterrestrial phenomenon, where Dr. Whiteley explains how her pilot and astronaut research applies to these encounters. Pilots report instruments switching on and off, unexplained objects in the sky, and real danger from distraction during critical flight moments—yet many fear reporting events due to stigma and professional risk. She shares a striking account of a helicopter pilot who encountered something mysterious while transporting a classified object, and introduces the “Astronaut’s Eye” phenomenon, showing why sharing anomalous experiences is essential to legitimizing them and advancing understanding.
This episode challenges the boundaries between science, intuition, embodiment, and consciousness—and asks: What becomes possible when we stop dismissing experiences that don’t fit existing models? If you’re interested in pilots, astronauts, ESP, UAPs, intuition, consciousness, or the future of human perception, this is a conversation you don’t want to miss!

The Iranian girl's name was Mahsa Amini 💔😢💔🖤🖤
great episode overall but I don't think a non-empath can ever become an empath & vice versa, especially when it comes to emotional empathy. either you are one or you aren't. and I wish to God I wasn't. It hasn't done anything good for me, only constant and overwhelming suffering & pain while being labeled "weak". All the people around me who at least act like psychopaths switching their emotions for others off on command are much more successful and seem to be having much more comfortable lives.
I love the back and forth about frequency and vibration at the end. I think you might be looking for coherence. Taking the static out so the coherence is clear. Please consider having Eileen Day McKusick as a guest. She is a pioneer in sound/frequency healing using tuning forks. I think this would be a fantastic time!
wow
Jesus the ads every 2 seconds
The bible talks about not listening to everything that comes to mind. that God does not tempt anyone. if it's not God, then who is it? the lies based on real events is what's hard to not feed into.
Eliminating someone's immigration pass when that person used their education visa to spearhead material support for hamas terrorists and also used their platform to rally a violent mob into harrassing and traumatizing Jewish students isn't the same thing as deporting someone for free speech. I'm all for free speech but we have to stop defending the leader of a hateful racist mob just because trump is the one kicking him out.
when I had a stroke in 2010, Dr Jill's book "my stroke of insight" was the first book I read after sufficient recovery post-surgery!!! so excited to listen to this podcast!!
Hmm reading these comments...I like the podcast but I don't like the people who listen to this podcast!

See, not so hard to put someone from academia on was it?, and we learned something! This episode is not a skip!
I wish you would talk to real academics and all these celebrities who do not speak to me and tune out, use that Degree Mayim! or did you not make any academic freinds?
