Nath & Ameliya are back after a little break to sell houses and change jobs. You know, the usual! Back with a bang, fresh off the news of Basketball Australia banning Lexi Rodgers from competing in Victoria, Ameliya and Nath dive into this most dividing of issues, transathletes in sport. The team discuss how to strike a balance between all these competing interests, from the athletes themselves, women in general, competition equality, and the too often forgotten, mental health of these athletes themselves. It's a space for learning and challenging one another as Nath and Ameliya each 'peer over different sides of the fence' to hear out each others perspective on the issue and how they're both open to the idea of being wrong. If you enjoyed this discussion we encourage you to go back in the podcast history to find the 2 part Interview Nath conducted with Hannah Mouncey, one of Australias inaugural transitioned athletes, who competed for Australia Internationally for both mens and womens handball. You can follow the podcast on Instagram to keep up to date with all things Uncut! https://www.instagram.com/theworlduncutpodcast/ Thanks for listening, and please rate, review and share if you like what you've heard!

It's all on camera for everyone to see, and now it's all in text too! If you haven't kept up with the latest at Faux News, it's been a big couple of weeks, as Dominion, the company responsible for much of the technology used during the 2020 Election, sues the media conglomerate, for defamation. Free speech doesn't make you free of consequences of what you say, and this week Nathan and Ameliya deep dive into Fox News knowingly lying to it's viewers about voter fraud, why they did it, and whether this lawsuit will be won by Dominion. The team discuss Fox News motives behind the lies, the financial benefits of doing so, the text exchanges we now know of between Fox News Hosts, take a look into Bernie Sanders predictions pre election, and a broad overview of the Electoral College and battleground states. Finally the team take a very early look at the 2024 Election race, and what to expect over the next 18 months. You can follow the podcast on Instagram to keep up to date with all things Uncut! https://www.instagram.com/theworlduncutpodcast/ Thanks for listening, and please rate, review and share if you like what you've heard!

An open episode to the open-minded. Today Ameliya & Nath welcome their first guest of 2023 as they are joined by Father, Educator, Activist, Artist, Performer and Seeker of Creativity, and Boston native, Eroc Arroyo-Montano. Having travelled the world, including meeting Nathan in Europe, Eroc has a vast collection of beliefs, ideals, goals and aims to share, and he joined the team for an hour long though provoking interview. The wide ranging discussion revolves around legacy, open mindedness, racism, reflection, oppression, improving, growth, inspiration, the military complex and making choices, like when to pass the butter. We strongly encourage those interested in more of Erocs thoughts to read this thought provoking, and incredibly well written article: https://digboston.com/guest-editorial-an-open-letter-to-the-open-minded/You can follow the podcast on Instagram to keep up to date with all things Uncut! https://www.instagram.com/theworlduncutpodcast/ Thanks for listening, and please rate, review and share if you like what you've heard!
Nath and Ameliya catch up to talk bucket lists...  but first, the US loves them a mass shooting, so the team cover off that and if they think things will ever change, and discuss the moving Australia Day yearly debate. From there the chat turns to the bucket lists, as we go through our top five five, in order! Among the wide ranging conversation is a mutual distaste for Gondola rides, and hot air balloons, why Paris should be on everyones list who has never been, and some candid thoughts on New York City! Also Ameliya drinks! All that and more this week! You can follow the podcast on Instagram to keep up to date with all things Uncut! https://www.instagram.com/theworlduncutpodcast/ Thanks for listening, and please rate, review and share if you like what you've heard!
Needless to say, Covid 19 created instant havoc on a huge amount of industries worldwide, but perhaps a story not told enough, or without negativity, is that of the travel industry. This week the tables are turned as Ameliya interviews Nathan about the experiences of working in that very industry throughout the Covid era. This interview covers a range of topics including the closing of the border, the immediate impact on the industry, the painfully slow recovery, but most importantly the emotional trauma of the time, that still lingers today, as Nathan opens up about having to stand down people he cared about, regrets from that time, being stood down himself, and the media field day aimed at the Industry in it's darkest hour and how that fueled some ugly situations. Nath pays tribute to some of the people he worked with, why he chose to return, government choices, and why he greaves the industry, even as it surges back to prominence today. To finish the discussion the guys dabble into a little bit of tourism today and some missing flight MH370 talk! All that and more on this weeks episode! You can follow the podcast on Instagram to keep up to date with all things Uncut! https://www.instagram.com/theworlduncutpodcast/ Thanks for listening, and please rate, review and share if you like what you've heard!
On this weeks episode it's host interviewing host, as the floor is opened for Ameliya to walk through her new parenthood, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Before they get into parenthood, there is a discussion around the Brazil riots that were reminiscent of the American version 2 years prior, and a laugh to be had at Andrew Tates not-so-lyrical-genius. Nothing is off limits as Ameliya talks pregnancy guilt, the joy of a babies smile, birth plans, labour itself, mum-shaming, intrusive thoughts, and the stigma around breast feeding. Among the broad chat, Ameliya also touches on a funny coconut oil story and a name that was absolutely off limits for her partner! Lastly the episode wraps with parenting advice, that was solicited ;), from our listeners! You can follow the podcast on Instagram to keep up to date with all things Uncut!https://www.instagram.com/theworlduncutpodcast/Thanks for listening, and please rate, review and share if you like what you've heard! You can follow the podcast on Instagram to keep up to date with all things Uncut! https://www.instagram.com/theworlduncutpodcast/ Thanks for listening, and please rate, review and share if you like what you've heard!
Nathan returns for 2023 with new co host Ameliya to talk a little Andrew V Greta to end 2022, and the karma bus taking out the 'Top G'.  Then on the back of this weeks fatal helicopter accident on the Gold Coast, they discuss the rise of Tik Tok as a Social Media presence, and peoples lack of empathy in the Wild West of social media.Ameliya and Nathan also broach kids on Tik Tok, morbid curiosity, the instinct of filming horrible events, and the comment sections. Lastly, is Facebook anything to anyone but memories, birthdays and messenger? Finally a huge thank you all so much for your patience while the pod has been paused! You can follow the podcast on Instagram to keep up to date with all things Uncut!https://www.instagram.com/theworlduncutpodcast/Thanks for listening! You can follow the podcast on Instagram to keep up to date with all things Uncut! https://www.instagram.com/theworlduncutpodcast/ Thanks for listening, and please rate, review and share if you like what you've heard!

We are a month removed from the flooding of Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the hard hit Northern New south Wales community, and on this return episode, host Saeg brings on Gabi to discuss the plight of Lismore, one of the, if not the, hardest hit communities by the 2022 floods. Not since records have been kept has Northern NSW community Lismore had a bigger flooding event than this. 4 weeks removed from the floods that saw a huge portion of the town completely under water we discuss the events of that day, and how the earlier than expected breach of the levy led to chaos. The end result; 4 dead, and a town decimated by floods. Large portions of Lismore still do not have power, over 2000 homes have been deemed uninhabitable and there is in excess of 110,000 tonnes of waste that needs to be removed. We discuss the slow response of government, the local communities emotions and appetite to start again and most importantly, bring attention to the help still needed for this community to rebuild. Also Saeg gives some very brief thoughts on the Russia Ukraine invasion and Gabi throws her two cents in on this at the end! There are many ways you can help by volunteering, donations of certain goods, or monetarily and you can see more on all the below valuable links:https://www.givit.org.au/storms-and-flooding?fbclid=IwAR0KaCdohtnmSaOXbDmjbt_W0u5IAPNnOQzI-OOpxJcp0xOFdqVnR2WEckshttps://www.instagram.com/floodsrecovery2022/?utm_medium=copy_link&fbclid=IwAR1SDxdGv6WIgpo1DCnFjn7yTyRskRJBXESdVnAlN0tLopATjcTHPwiEZuQhttps://www.instagram.com/koorimailnewspaper/?utm_medium=copy_link&fbclid=IwAR3rwZyFOdXzZYr49aPRh98HJG_Eb8itE4ri4d-ewEV-C6N2N0gHT_mdJuoFinally a huge thank you all so much for your patience while the pod has been paused due to a variety of reasons! You can follow the podcast on Instagram to see some of the terrible photos showing Lismore under water, and to keep up to date with all things Uncut! https://www.instagram.com/theworlduncutpodcast/Thanks for listening! You can follow the podcast on Instagram to keep up to date with all things Uncut! https://www.instagram.com/theworlduncutpodcast/ Thanks for listening, and please rate, review and share if you like what you've heard!
New series coming your way every so often within the World Uncut is the '5 Minute Pod'.As we often deep dive on some of the bigger issues, some of the smaller snippets get missed. No longer! The 5 Minute Pod is the chance to take down a misconception or chat about some bullshit going on in the world. Today a Facebook post with the usual 'the media doesn't want you to know' rhetoric stirred something inside me. Should Novak Djokovic have been deported from Australia? Polling (our own included) certainly indicated Australians were in favour of having him removed from the country, so we decided to have a conversation about it. What led to this situation? Who messed up? Who bears most of the responsibility for this mess? Was it embarrassing for Australia? And ultimately, was the right decision made?Guest of the pod this week is Caleb, a talented youth tennis player back in his day, and keen observer of the tour, to break down all that and much, much more, as we also take on where the public sentiment and sympathy really should reside right now. We finish off the episode with a chat about Jelena Dokics brave tell-all book, Unbreakable and remember her memorable 'rags to riches' 2009 Australian Open run to the Quarter Finals; the redemption she so richly deserved. The World Uncut is an Independently produced podcast, so if you like what you've heard please rate, subscribe, follow and tell a friend! 'I want people to remember how they feel watching these images of the United States Capitol being taken over, and these clear acts of sedition and violence and terrorism by Trump Supporters, because there's going to be an attempt to whitewash and pretend this didn't happen'.  - Jake Tapper of CNNOne year later we revisit the sights, sounds and craziness that was January 6th, 2021 in Washington DC. And it didn't take Jakestradaumus to predict the Republican Party and their media arm, Fox, would indeed, try to whitewash the events of that day, yet here we are, with exactly that happening. In this episode we revisit the events of the day, the information that has come to hand since, and the perfect storm that lead to the events of Jan 6th. But make no mistake, it all started with one man, and one man only, Donald Trump. For years he tore down the belief of Americans in their own elections to appease his own ego should he lose. Today we go through the history of Trumps lies, the attempts of Republicans to change history, we hear from the Capitol Police and learn that night time comedy hosts are far more attached to reality than many elected officials. You can follow the podcast on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/theworlduncutpodcast/If you enjoyed the episode please leave a review and rating, tell a friend and subscribe! The State of Mississippi is attempting to pass law that outlaws abortions after 15 weeks, in direct opposition to Supreme Court precedent of Roe V Wade allowing for a womens right to privacy and an abortion. The Supreme Courts decision, expected this Summer will go a long way to determining if Womens ability to chose will remain a precedent, or if they'll deem Roe V Wade unconstitutional. With 21 states sitting at the ready with abortion 'trigger laws', needless to say this is a big deal.If you're not aware of what is going on in America right now, get on and listen to the last episode as it relates to the even more draconian, and shady, laws being passed in Texas, and then listen in to this one as I am joined by Eloise and Ash who offer a womens perspective of the situation in America. We discuss the right to an abortion, the case before the Supreme Court, the latest SC appointees,  the luck of living in Australia, the role religion plays in this, and how Republicans are passing these unpopular laws.  You can follow the podcast on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/theworlduncutpodcast/If you enjoyed the episode please leave a review and rating, tell a friend and subscribe! Can you believe we are now one year 'removed' from the Trump Presidency? In part 1 of this special mini series we take a look at what the power hungry Republicans have been up to in their year post one-term-Trump. In this episode we look into the inhumane, and widely unpopluar Texas abortion laws signed into Law in 2021. We discuss the hypocrisy on display of Republicans as it relates to 'choice' with regards to vaccines and vaccine mandates, and their complete silence as it relates to the lack of choice afforded those pesky women, with these abortion laws. To give a full picture you do need to understand how this can happen with Democrats in power, and how the way the law is written leaves the citizens of Texas in a very difficult position. To give that full picture we touch on vaccine mandates and South West Airlines weirdly, Supreme Court Packing, the way the law is written, and the complete hypocrisy at play. Future episodes we will cover the Big Lie and those who spread it leading to the Jan 6th Insurrection at the Capitol, voting laws in America and changes Republicans have pushed through on the basis of this lie in the name of 'election security' and a raft of other issues. You can follow the podcast on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/theworlduncutpodcast/If you enjoyed the episode please leave a review and rating, tell a friend and subscribe! A day 590 days in the making is here! Australias International border has been closed since March 20, 2020 and today it is open!To celebrate the day, I am joined by 3 different avid travellers to discuss some of their experiences overseas as we all can start re-discovering the joys of our long lost pal, Travel. Before we get to the stories though, it wouldn't be the World Uncut without speaking some truth to power, and I need to remind everyone what this border closure has done to our own citizens stranded overseas, and what this means to them. Then we get in to the fun stuff!First up is Mitch, a YouTube creator and massive foodie, who combines those two passions on his channel 'Mitch Eats'. Mitch shares stories of eating at a Michelin Star Restaurant in Japan, travelling to 46 of the 50 US States while trying each states signature dish and some travel, and food, fails along the way! Second on the menu, we have pod regular Jess to give us the lowdown on how her bosses terms of employment led to her life overseas, her La Tomatina experience, being denied boarding, getting mugged in Buenos Aires and the story of the whole reason she even went to South America, the Nazca Lines. Last but far from least, I am joined by Shannon 'Shaz' Carter who shares his experience as a first time traveller going to Malaysia and Thailand with yours truly. There's forgotten lost wallets, pimps, ferry chaos and advice for first time travellers, and hell, we all feel like that again after 590 days trapped on Alcatraz! You can follow the podcast on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/theworlduncutpodcast/If you enjoyed the episode please leave a review and rating, tell a friend and subscribe! Part 2 of my sit down interview with Hannah Mouncey is here! In todays episode we discuss Trans-athletes participation in sport and the science and requirements involved, as well as Laurel Hubbards efforts at the Olympics. Following that we delve into the AFL situation that brought Hannah instant fame that she never craved when she had her registration denied for the AFLW draft. We discuss the parameters given by the AFL and the whole situation in depth, including dealing with sudden celebrity. We then dive back into Handball, discussing Hannah's first sporting love, and rekindling that passion and becoming the first ever Australian athlete to represent a National Team in both Mens and Womens at the top level. A much less known controversy was Hannahs omission from the Australian team at the World Championships after helping Australia qualify. We discuss the cause of that omission and the betrayal Hannah felt in being left off the team. Lastly Hannah answers some listener questions around AFL Salary Cap, who's support surprised her, who she'd invite to dinner & if she'd compete in 'all-trans' sports? If you missed episode 1 and wish to catch up the links are below: Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/31-hannah-mouncey-interview-part-1/id1546242432?i=1000533650604Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/episode/6wMUPq2tpdtX28l79nPBBD?si=6E6YIUt6TRanj_OD7iVieg&dl_branch=1You can follow the podcast on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/theworlduncutpodcast/If you enjoyed the episode please leave a review and rating, tell a friend and subscribe! 32. Remembering 9/11

2021-09-1201:03:17

9/11 Forever changed the world we live in. To mark the 20th Anniversary of a day in living history that can't be forgotten, Nathan takes a trip down an uncomfortable, and at times confronting, memory lane of 9/11. In the back half of the episode Nathan sits down with and recounts the emotions and memories of the day with James, An Englishman in Perth at the time, watching in the wee hours. Kelley also joins us recounting her memories, waking up in Calgary to the horror unfolding hours away.  Henry, in Los Angeles gives his take as an American living through the day, and Jono, a sports reporter in Australia offers his perspective, having woken up to a changed world. It's a day that should never be forgotten and we encourage anyone who gets the chance to visit New York, the greatest city in the world, to please go and take the time to immerse yourself in the history of 9/11 at the Memorial and the Museum. It is well worth the price of admission and the moments to reflect peacefully on that awful day. You can follow the podcast on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/theworlduncutpodcast/If you enjoyed the episode please leave a review and rating, tell a friend and subscribe!
