The Bob is the most popular haircut in the world! Did you know? A Bob haircut is more or less a one-length haircut at the shoulders or anywhere above the shoulders. Once judged as the ugliest hairstyle on earth, the Bob slowly became popular thanks to the influencers of that time: the movie stars. Tony states that these were the beginnings of the Bob haircut but the real birthplace was in 1962 with Vidal Sassoon’s five-point Bob. Sassoon changed the history of hairdressing not only with his bold styles but with his techniques. Modern icons like Victoria Beckham, Uma Turman, Meg Ryan, and Jennifer Aniston rocked this style through the ’80s and ’90s. During the 2000s more women have worn it, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, the Kardashians, and Cate Blanchett included! Over the years celebrities across the entertainment industry like Audrey Hepburn, Mia Farrow, Madonna, Halle Berry, and recently J-Lo have rocked this cut on the movies, tv-series, and stages across the world. In this episode, Ricco and Tony discuss a haircut and style that has been famously worn from time to time: The Shag Haircut! Originally created by the Scottish hairdresser Paul McGregor, this haircut is all things volume and layers. The story says Jane Fonda came into his Greenwich Village salon in the 60s and asked him to do something, anything he wanted on her hair. On that day, the shag haircut was born. With the passing of years, this cut was famously used by celebrities during the 70s, in the 80s it was Glam Rock Bands distinguishing style and it kept transforming during the 1990s. During all this time, the shag kept two main characteristics: the style of the cut and the color. Even now, in the second decade of the 2000s, Miley Cyrus is bringing this haircut back wearing a reverse mullet shag style! Visit https://altieritheartofhair.com/ to learn more.
