Description
The Random Wrestling Review and its sister shows bring you an explicit mess of in-depth wrestling analysis and puerile humour. The main show focuses on a single event from any point in history and breaks it down crudely and with no apologies. RWR Now focusses on events currently taking place in wrestling. The Game is a quiz series featuring regular guests on the panel battling out to show their supremacy over one another. BracketMania sees the crew whittle 16 down to 1 in pursuit of finding the best of any given category and there a number of bonus and special episodes about a plethora of other things. We have covered topics and shows dating from 1984 through to the present day from a variety of promotions including WWE, WCW, AEW, ECW, NWA, NXT and AWA, so there is bound to be something you like when you join Tinky, Old Man, Tom, Stephen, Matt, Alex and other guests as they fumble their way through wrestling’s rich past, present and even future. Listeners beware! This show is not suitable for young ears!

We continue to trawl through every inductee in the WWE's Hall of Fame and determine whether they deserve to keep their place or whether they should be dunked out. This time around our panel discuss the case for Sgt Slaughter, 'Superstar' Billy Graham, Tito Santana, Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan, Hulk Hogan, 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper and Bob Orton Jr.

We've already covered WCW's last ever pay-per-view, so it felt only fair that we did the same for ECW and their Guilty As Charged 2001 event. A night that played host to a ECW World Title Ladder Match between Steve Corino, Justin Credible and The Sandman, an 'I Quit' match pitting Tommy Dreamer against CW Anderson and 2 impromptu bouts that closed the show in customary ECW style.

For the first time ever, the Random Wrestling Review is running a predictions contest in 2026 as the 5 regulars on the podcast all gaze into their crystal ball and try to guess what will happen over the next 12 months. There are 30 different questions for them to attempt to answer with the winner being the person who gets the most correct answers as at the end of December. Old Man, Matt, Stephen and Alex have already put their predictions in, and here Tom Smith completes the set.

In mid-1994, Hulk Hogan, the 5-time WWF Champion, and babyface centrepiece of Vince McMahon's juggernaut for the previous 10 years, jumped ship to its main competitor, WCW. Having attracted The Hulkster to the company, WCW's Senior Vice President, Eric Bischoff, wasted no time in booking a match that the WWF had decided not to deliver a couple of years earlier, Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair. The match, for the WCW World Title, also featured Shaquille O'Neal to hand the title to the victor, Mr T in the corner of Hogan, and a bunch of stars in the crowd. Also on the show, 'Stunning' Steve Austin defended the WCW United States Title against Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat, and Lord Steven Regal took on Johnny B Badd for the Television Title.

It's our annual (brief) look back at the year that has just happened and in particular this year we are focussing on what was the year of John Cena, his retirement tour, the heel turn, his final match and how that impact WWE's product over the previous 12 months. We also talk about the potential for Netflix's purchase of WBD to be very bad news for AEW, the need for wrestling to lower its expectations of in-ring performance, the chance of a Jericho return to WWE and the hope that the RWR crew can get together in 2026 for AEW All In London.

Is this the greatest wrestling show in the history of the industry, or an event that inspires rose tinted nostalgia to take over at the expense of good taste? That is the central point of discussion on this year's Christmas episode of the Random Wrestling Review as we cover WWE Survivor Series 1990, a night that saw the debut of the Undertaker, the surprise of the Gobbledy Gooker and a special all Survivors match main event.

One day Triple H will leave his role as the head of WWE's creative process- whether through choice, or otherwise, so in that scenario, who will TKO choose to replace him? Would an internal promotion, like Bruce Prichard, Shawn Michaels, Paul Heyman or Cody Rhodes be the way to go? Could TKO dip back into the McMahon well by bringing back Stephanie, or even Shane? Or would it be a more out there option- Eric Bischoff? Vince Russo?! Tony Khan!?!? That's our discussion this week.

If WWE had pulled their finger out and uploaded the first ever Starrcade to YouTube by now, that is what you'd be getting here, as it is, you'll have to put up with the RWR original crew struggling their way through this. It features a main event of Dusty Rhodes vs. Tully Blanchard in a cage and is supported by Ric Flair's defence of the NWA World Title against Nikita Koloff.

After last week's review of WWE Survivor Series 1997, here is a recording from 2014 discussing The Montreal Screwjob- some of the things that led to it, the actions of those involved, the reactions of others, and some of the elements that make understanding exactly what happened even to this day, a complex affair.

Buckle up for one of the longest episodes in the history of this podcast as we discuss the infamous Survivor Series 1997, site of the Montreal Screwjob, a moment that changed the course of wrestling history and the lives of pretty much all involved. Here we will talk about the build up to the event, the contract situation that existed, the various backstage happenings that led to such distrust and the match itself. In addition to that, we of course have a duty to cover the rest of the event as well, to review the card and discuss its relative quality or lack there of.

The latest BracketMania has arrived and for the 8th instalment of the series we sift through a plethora of gimmick matches to determine the best of them all. Considered among the shortlisted are the Cage, the Hell in a Cell, the Royal Rumble, the ladder, the Elimination Chamber, the Survivor Series and many more...

In the autumn of 2006, Kurt Angle sensationally signed with TNA and opened up the possibility of a number of mouth-watering matches taking place- one of those matches was with the then undefeated Samoa Joe, and TNA decided to go there straight away, billing the pair's first collision, 'The Dream Match of the Decade'. Also on the show, Sting would defend the NWA World Title against Abyss, AJ Styles would battle Christian and the X-Division Title would also be on the line, with Champion, Christopher Daniels defending against Chris Sabin.

Recorded on Monday (so apologies if WWE have subsequently announced who he'll be facing), the RWR panel turn their attentions to John Cena's last match, set for Saturday Night's Main Event in December. We discuss whether it will indeed turn out to be the last time he steps foot in the squared circle, or whether the Saudi Money (or some other factor) prompt a return in the years to come. We talk about who we think he will end up facing, and we talk about who it should be, and offer some alternative ideas for the occasion.

In November of 2005 the great Eddie Guerrero passed away just as WWE planned to push him back to the top of the Smackdown for another World Title run. Just a few short weeks before that, Guerrero took part in his final pay-per-view outing, opposite Batista in the main event of No Mercy 2005. This week's show takes a look back on this event that also included a handicap-casket match which saw Undertaker battle both Randy and Bob Orton as well as Rey Mysterio vs. JBL and the PPV debuts of both Bobby Lashley and Mr Kennedy.

It's time for Stephen Coriander to talk about one of his favourites on the 2nd episode of The Heroes. His pick is 'Macho Man' Randy Savage and here we go over the peak of his career from Wrestlemania 3, the Mega Powers, Wrestlemania 5, his heel turn, the Dusty Rhodes feud, the career match with The Ultimate Warrior and his big 1992, back as a babyface and Champion again.

This week on the Random Wrestling Review we take a look back at a show that was both the first ever NXT Special, and the first live event to take place on the brand new WWE Network. This was a show that was largely put on to test the capability of the Network to broadcast live events as the company prepared for Wrestlemania 30 and the potential for technical challenges during that show. In doing so, WWE put on a card that featured NXT Champion, Bo Dallas defending his title against Adrian Neville, and Sami Zayn taking on Cesaro in the latest match in their series.

In what has become an annual tradition, the RWR crew come up with their preferred card at Wrestlemania 42. How will they accommodate The Rock, Rhea Ripley, Roman Reigns, CM Punk, Bianca Belair, Seth Rollins, Iyo Sky, Cody Rhodes, Tiffany Stratton and all the rest as they plot out their chosen shows and explain some of the thinking and stories behind them.

In 2018 WWE took the step to put on an all female pay-per-view for the first time to recognise the significant gains that the women roster had made over the previous few years. Of course this came with a significant amount of self congratulatory behaviour from the company themselves, but would that overshadow the action in the ring? That action would include a Last Woman Standing match between Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch, and a main event where Nikki Bella challenged Ronda Rousey.

The undefeated, and so far, unstoppable, 'Relentless' Gavin Duenas defends his RWR Game Title for the 4th time in today's episode against 'Rockstar' Alex Kirkman. Over 1 year ago, Alex lost the title to Gavin on a night which kickstarted Gavin's tremendous run, now having seen his fellow RWR regulars be defeated by the Champion, Alex gets his long awaited rematch- but can he bring the belt back home? The test for our competitors today is Champions of NXT...

For the first time ever on the Random Wrestling Review, we are covering a show by Ring of Honor- and seeing as this series is themed around significant events through time, it felt only right to look back at their debut, The Era of Honor Begins. Headlined by a 3 way contest pitting Low Ki against Christopher Daniels against American Dragon, Bryan Danielson, the show is a fascinating window into the primordial days of one of the most influential and important independent wrestling promotions ever.
