Description

This podcast celebrates my love of poetry. I’ve been writing poetry for about 4 1/2 decades and after years of hauling around boxes of poetry books and scatters of paper with poetry scribbled in both sides I decided to unload the boxes and share with you my poetic creations.

A very recent poem about a deep connection you carry until your last breath and beyond.
A poem that almost escaped by hiding under my bed. I was fortunate to recover it with a broom while sweeping… it must have fallen from the stack of written poems on my nightstand one evening and took refuse among the dust … “Beneath Solitude”
This poem came to me after remembering a quote by Ernest Hemingway… “There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.” Most people see the end, product of creativity, a painting, a song, a book, a poem, but they are unaware of how much toil and turmoil goes in to lifelong creativity. This poem touches on just how difficult it is to create and what the cost is for following your creative passions.
Two poems that I recently wrote are being read here in episode 147 … “No Longer Dreaming” and “Shining Beautiful Stones”. Enjoy.
Have you ever been asked if you have a toaster oven? It could be the beginning of a wonderful adventure… or a the very least a beautiful and poignant memory.
Eventually every life comes to an end and if you haven’t been fully immersed in your journey on this planet, you may end up with a last request before you go. You may wish to try and squeeze in as many beautiful things and experiences you can, into one last day… This poem is about just that. Hopefully you have enough awareness that you don’t take for granted all the beautiful and wonderful things that life has to offer while you’re here … because you don’t get another chance.
“The Tree Outside My Window” is a recent poem about connecting with nature and all its seasons even when you’re not outside. Watching from the comfort of your bedroom window, you can witness all the changes that occur as the tree reflects its journey to you through a simple glass barrier.
A poem I just wrote today about the human tendency to underestimate threats and foreshadowed catastrophe until it all becomes overwhelming, and the cost is severe.
A poem I wrote this evening about searching for someone you dreamt of throughout your life and then having the fortune of a clandestine meeting of what you longed for in your dreams.
Sometimes, on this journey of life, you can have a memory, or memories, that make life feel like a beautiful summers day with blue skies and sunshine no matter what the weather is like outside.
Getting past fears that hold you back and prevent you from living your true purpose is the basis of this poem I recently wrote… to take a quote from my film , The Dark and The Wounded… Beyond fear … There’s freedom.
What may seem like a scenario of frustration can turn out to be a blessing in disguise. Sometimes things can happen for reasons unexplained until after the fact. Learn to trust the detours life gives us, sometimes fortune can shine on us without our knowledge.
In the end … love is what gives meaning to most things in life. This poem was inspired by a quote from Zelda Fitzgerald… “ Nobody has ever measured, not even poets, how much the heart can hold.” … a true statement if there ever was one … enjoy.
The life of Audrey Munson was the inspiration for this poem. How she rose to celebrity status from humble beginnings as an artist model to movie star to the tragic ending of her life where she spent sixty-four years of her life in an asylum for the criminally insane.
A poem randomly selected from my second book of poetry, “A Pilgrimage to My Soul”. Hope you enjoy this poem I entitled, ‘Emotional Debris and a Brief Embrace.’
A poem taken from my second book of poetry, A Pilgrimage to My Soul”. ‘Aware Through Necessity” Enjoy…
As a poet and romantic I am always inspired to write about love … and experiencing true love is the one thing I believe we all seek on our journey through life, though it doesn’t always come to us as true love is the rarest of all love. It is something you feel at the very core of your spiritual being and has inspired me to write this poem. Enjoy.
Three poems taken from my second book of poetry entitled, “A Pilgrimage to My Soul”. ‘Torn and Dog-Eared’ / ‘Drops of Ambrosia’ and ‘I Am’ Hope you enjoy these three poems on this first day of 2026.
One poem in this evening’s episode, entitled “Anemoia” … which is the feeling of nostalgia for a time or a place that you’ve never known, or been to, but long for. It’s a connection to a past era that is usually triggered by old photographs, music stories, or film footage.I was happy to find out there was a name for this because I have had an incredible longing for the past throughout my entire life. I love looking at old photographs or film- footage or listening to old music from distant eras. I even enjoy going into antique stores and looking at postcards or objects and wondering what the lives were like of people that are no longer here, but have left some remnants behind to document their existence. I hope you enjoy tonight‘s poem.
Sleep is such a nightly thing to do. Recently I was told by someone very astutely, in a state of drifting off to sleep, that their eyelids were doing nose dives. An odd statement perhaps, but in the right context of conversation fit perfectly. Thanks once again for the inspiration to create. Enjoy…
