Description
There aren't enough instances of people taking longer deep dive looks into narrative focused games. So in Thoughts from Player One two friends play through narrative focused video games and talk in depth about them. Also sometimes we do very dumb things like play through all of Sonic Adventure 2 over the course of too many episodes.

Talking points include: Giving stolen evidence to cops, lackluster romance options, and just what in tarnation that Jed character is up to and how stupid we are for being surprised by it. Check in with us next week for Chapter 5!

This week we played Heaven Will Be Mine, a visual novel about three female mech pilots tearing through space, battling, flirting, making out, and fighting for what they believe in. The game contains Poetic and dense writing about themes surrounding LGBTQ+, discrimination, space, and what it means to be human. This one was right up our alley! If you've never played it we do summarize it as best we can! Topics include: conquering challenging writing, representation styles, ending interpretations, personal connections, and much more! Be sure to check out our color fact at the end too! It's a good one!

If you want to catch up on the story we're breaking it down into chunks and discussing throughout highlighting certain aspects of the game and narrative. Topics include: Why does Michael hate Yonnah? XBOX360 era design, Women in their UNDERGARMENTS, and predictions for the 2nd act! This is part 1 of probably 3 so if your interested in more of the meat we'll be getting to that next!

Heyyy it's Alex and Duncan =].
We recorded another AWESOME episode of TFP1!!! This week we talked about Kyle Seeley's Emily is Away
This week we finally talk about a game that Alex has had his eyes on for a while now, Maquette. We also take some time to say farewell to season 6(?) as Plant Facts from Michael goes on hiatus for a bit and a new season closer starts taking shape. Talking points this time include: Just being so dang quirky, who exactly is Ron Howard, puzzle mechanics as a storytelling mechanism, and steam speedruns disguising themselves as walkthroughs.

This week we just took it easy! Hey can you blame us? We work so incredibly hard. This episode we discussed some games we've been playing that don't really need a full spot on the podcast. Alex also brings an interesting topic to the table about talking through the media you consume (really interesting stuff here folks). Games include: Katamari Damacy, Dyson Sphere Project, Monster of the Week, Ori and the Will of the Wisp, Valheim, and Control.

We're back this week and delving deep into the sci-fi stealth action in Echo by Ultra Ultra, a game we both desperately wanted to love. Talking points include: Limited story context, great ideas vs execution, and like 15 minutes on Detective Pikachu to tie it all together.

Shadows may only die twice, but Nick joins our podcast thrice to discuss Fromsoft's latest title Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. This time featuring an actual story and characters to discuss! Alex and Nick talk about: Using background worldbuildling to set up foreground events, blocking offensively, characters actually speaking to each other, and the top and bottom bosses of Sekiro.

This week Duncan calls in sick so Alex and Nick pick up the mantle by continue talking at length about Fromsoft games, this time covering Dark Souls 1 and 3. Talking points include: player impact on the world, a great deal of slander on the gargoyles, and like 45 minutes of discussing how the world of Dark Souls is dead and how that makes us feel.

Hella love this podcast. It sucks that they don't make new episodes, but I still have a lot to listen
