Description

With all that we go through in life, seeking light can bring us comfort amid storms, heart-ache and frustrations. During a time of deep contemplation, I decided that I might not have control or answers to many of the worlds troubles but I can share light to those who are seeking light. Ultimately, all we can control is ourselves. Through life, the scriptures have brought me answers and insight in troubled water and helped me gain knowledge. Join me as we learn from the scriptures, inspiring quotes, life experiences and books that can brighten you day and life as you seek light.

Two of our kids are coming home from their missions this year. I’ve been thinking about the importance of their growth and happiness that they’ve experienced on their missions. As I reflected on how much they both learned from companions, investigators, using their strength each day to walk and talk and meet people I realized that when they come home, the struggle will be in maintaining the spiritual further, even though their lives are not 24 hour proselyting are teaching. Then my thoughts led to how many times we as humans want to get healthy and lose weight. We start working out. Many times we are able to set goals to lose weight and get fit and we accomplish that goal. We feel really good. Then when we get to that golden desired place, we need to go into maintenance phase. Meaning, we will need to set goals and boundaries that make it so we don’t return to our old habits. Finding a healthy way to stay in maintenance. That to me is the hardest part. It’s really not that difficult to decide to lose the weight and do the things you have to do to get there. It’s maintaining what you’ve accomplished. Your growth really came in the experience of getting to that goal. Learning and growing in the gospel can be the same. We gain knowledge, we serve in callings, we have spiritual experiences, we get answers from God, we see miracles happen in our loved ones lives, but for some reason we forget and don’t focus on the maintenance. We go in to our old habits and behaviors and forget to focus on God and his bountiful blessings. Join me today as I share some thoughts on MAINTENCE!"An introspective look may reveal that we too and our families could benefit from our doing some needed maintenance and renovation work, even a seismic upgrade!" Gary E Stevenson, 2020Definition of maintenance with machinery:The technical meaning of maintenance involves functional checks, servicing, repairing or replacing of necessary devices, equipment, machinery, building infrastructure1.Functional CHECKS2. SERVICING (Getting oil changes and proper servicing for our vehicles)3. REPAIR (repair our headlight in the Avalon)4. REPLACE of necessary DEVICES5. EQUIPMENT6. MACHINERY (the working parts of a machine or instrument ; 3 · the organization or system by which something is done or carried on)7. BUILDING infrastructure : (the basic physical and organizational structures and facilities (e.g. buildings, roads, power supplies) needed for the operation of a society or enterprise.)
We look around us and can see suffering.and heartache. That leads me to ask myself questions of why, when, how and what. Why do some things happen to certain people? When we they get answers and peace? How long will they have to endure? What am I to do with this experience and trial? Human nature can have us asking these questions. In ttoday's episode, I share some personal personal struggles I am witnessing or have witnessed and how I am exercising my faith in moving forward.Elder Renlund, April 2021 "When faced with unfairness, we can push ourselves away from God or we can be drawn toward Him for help and support.” “Do not let unfairness harden you or corrode your faith in God. Instead, ask God for help. Increase your appreciation for and reliance on the Savior. Rather than becoming bitter, let Him help you become better. Allow Him to help you persevere, to let your afflictions be “swallowed up in the joy of Christ."

After taking a break from podcasting, I’m ready to jump back in! Today I share with you a little of my WHY about returning to podcasting and how good it feels to be back!! "Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it." — Andy Rooney
Quotes have been such a gift to me in my life. I have drawn upon them over and over in my life. Join me today as I share 5 quotes that have affected my life lately. 1. “A warrior is not a person that carries a gun. The biggest war you ever go through is right between your own ears. It’s in your mind. We’re all going through a war in our mind, and we have to callus our mind to fight that war and to win that war.” - David Goggins 2. “You turn your FOCUS, GOD, will change your heart” Abinadi: 3. “Large fires can start from a single spark.” 4. “Rather than adding more years to your life, add more life to your years” 5. "Curb yourself: C: Don’t give COMMENTARY O: Don’t give your OPINION  A: Don’t give ADVICE" bethnewellcoaching@gmail.com
“Miracles are a part of the gospel of Jesus Christ. If miracles cease it is because faith has ceased.” God knows each of us. He loves us! He know our pains, sorrows, joys, worries, discouragements. We’re never alone!!  Bailey shared this to us last night while reading scriptures, “Sometimes our own personal conversion doesn’t happen in the sacred grove but rather our own personal Liberty jail.”

330. SMALL groups

2024-06-0427:43

God accomplishes his work through small things. While reading my scriptures, I was reminded of this very truth. Join me today as I share some thoughts about small groups. Alma 37: 6 Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise. 7 And the Lord God doth work by means to bring about his great and eternal purposes; and by very small means the Lord doth confound the wise and bringeth about the salvation of many souls.
Three lessons I learned going to the Washington Family Ranch in Central Oregon. Lesson # 1: God created this earth for you and I to fill his love and experience his goodness.  D&C 59: 18 Yea, all things which come of the earth, in the season thereof, are made for the benefit and the use of man, both to please the eye and to gladden the heart; 19 Yea, for food and for raiment, for taste and for smell, to strengthen the body and to enliven the soul. 20 And it pleaseth God that he hath given all these things unto man Lesson # 2: Even though we might be given mundane tasks to accomplish, there is a purpose and growth in these experiences.   Lesson # 3: Continue to do good. There is so many good people in this world trying to do good things.  bethnewellcoaching@gmail.com
Have you ever felt like an underdog? I love to read, watch or listen to stories about the underdog rising triumphant. Join me today as I talk about the underdog and how we will overcome the evil that is spreading across the earth and be a light that shines in the darkness. 1 Nephi 14:12-14 12 And it came to pass that I beheld the church of the Lamb of God, and its numbers were few, because of the wickedness and abominations of the whore who sat upon many waters; nevertheless, I beheld that the church of the Lamb, who were the saints of God, were also upon all the face of the earth; and their dominions upon the face of the earth were small, because of the wickedness of the great whore whom I saw. 13 And it came to pass that I beheld that the great mother of abominations did gather together multitudes upon the face of all the earth, among all the nations of the Gentiles, to fight against the Lamb of God. 14 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, beheld the power of the Lamb of God, that it descended upon the saints of the church of the Lamb, and upon the covenant people of the Lord, who were scattered upon all the face of the earth; and they were armed with righteousness and with the power of God in great glory. D & C 84:88 “88 And whoso receiveth you, there I will be also, for I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up.” bethnewellcoaching.com bethnewellcoaching@gmail.com
While listening to the ALL IN podcast recently that was talking about lamenting. Morgan said something that really spoke to my heart. “No flowers bloom in all seasons”. What a profound thought for me. I love flowers and during this time of year they are all around our property. Join me today as I share some thoughts about flowers and our personal blooming we experience in life. Ecclesiastes 3: 1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: 2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; 3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; 4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; 5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; 6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; 7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; 8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. bethnewellcoaching@gmail.com
This is a re-posted podcast from my archives! As I travel to spend time with my kids, I felt this podcast was perfect for our lives!! Thank you for supporting me. Enjoy!!! Today, while preparing for church I thought so much about personal peace during these times. Our opening hymn was Where Can I Turn For Peace. Many of us are seeking for peace. We have wars and commotion going on all around us but we can have personal peace. Peace comes through Jesus Christ and following his teachings. Join me today as I share some thoughts and light about peace. John 16:33, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”  A Pattern for Peace By Bishop W. Christopher Waddell Second Counselor in the Presiding Bishopric said, “The peace we all seek requires us to act—by learning of Jesus Christ, by listening to His words, and by walking with Him.”  bethnewellcoaching.com bethnewellcoaching@gmail.com

This is such a beautiful time of year in our area. We have spring trees flowering everywhere. On our property alone we have several different fruit bearing trees. As I walk outside each day, I see trees surrounding our neighborhood. That got me thinking about the significance of trees in the standard works. The Garden of Eden, The Garden of Gethsemane, The Tree of Life and The Sacred Grove. Join me today as I share some scriptures and how all of these trees symbolize our reliance on the Savior Jesus Christ. bethnewellcoaching@gmail.com
Cindy grew up in Portand Oregon. From her earliest memories she experienced abuse from the hands of the adults who were to care for her. She emailed me, "My life has been full of trials but the attonement has been my lifeline since I was baptized back in 2010. Through Schizoaffective disorder, mental health breakdowns, grief from miscarriage after miscarriage, the attonement of Christ has been there. Comforting me. Sustaining me. And giving me the strength to endure the trials that have molded me. Refined me. And loved me when I have felt unlovable.” Join me today as Cindy shares her story of seeking light amidst her storms. President Monson said, “Our Heavenly Father … knows that we learn and grow and become stronger as we face and survive the trials through which we must pass.” bethnewellcoaching@gmail.com
I had the great opportunity to go to general conference and listen to Bailey sing in the conference center and the enjoy the wonderful talks from the leaders of our church. Today I share 3 talks that really touched my heart and answered my prayers. Join me today as I share those 3 talks. “Be Still, and Know That I Am God” April 2024 Elder David A Bednar God’s Intent Is to Bring You Home" April 2024 Elder Patrick Kearon A Record of What I Have Both Seen and Heard" April 2024 Brent H Nielson bethnewellcoaching@gmail.com
So many wonderful things are happening in our family right now. My heart is very full. I have spent the last 2 weeks reflecting on parenting and how many times I have symbolically "dropped the ball". Parenting has taught me so many incredible life lessons. Here are just three that I share today: 1. Saying SORRY as many times as I can 2. Trying to do BETTER each day 3. Having FAITH in Heavenly Father Join me today as I share some insights and thoughts about what parenting has taught me. President Gordon B. Hinckley https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/1994/10/don-t-drop-the-ball?lang=eng bethnewellcoaching@gmail.com
Matt needed to go walking around the backyard to find the area that our goats were escaping from our yard into our neighbors yard. He was dressed in a warm coat and in shorts. When he went in the house he said his legs were hurting because of all the cuts he got all over his legs. He showed me all the cuts and scratches and said, “I knew that I shouldn’t have worn these shorts”. My mind began to think of all the times that I made a decision to do something and thought, “I knew that I shouldn't have done that”. Join me today as I share some thoughts on change and moving forward not taking the easy way. “You can change! You can be anything you want to be in righteousness. If there is one lament I cannot abide, it is the poor, withered cry, ‘Well, that’s just the way that I am.’ I’ve heard it from too many people who want to sin and call it psychology. You can change anything you want to change, and you can do it very fast. Another satanic sucker punch is that it takes years and years and eons and eons to repent. That’s just not true. It takes exactly as long to repent as it takes you to say, ‘Ill change’ and mean it. Of course, there will be problems to work out and restitutions to make…but change, growth, renewal , and repentance can come to you as instantaneously as for Alma.” Elder Jeffrey R. Holland  |  For Times of Trouble “We can change our behavior. Our very desires can change. How? There is only one way. True change—permanent change—can come only through the healing, cleansing, and enabling power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. He loves you—each of you! He allows you to access His power as you keep His commandments, eagerly, earnestly, and exactly. It is that simple and certain. The gospel of Jesus Christ is a gospel of change!” Russell M. Nelson  |  Decisions for Eternity bethnewellcoaching@gmail.com
While reading my scriptures these words popped out to me: "he sought much opportunity that he might come unto me." That is exactly what satan does, he seeks after us to lead us away with flattery and false information. With our desires to live a good life, obey God and follow the Savior, we need to be sure to be like Jacob and be NOT BE SHAKEN by his deceits and false words. Jacob 7: 1 And now it came to pass after some years had passed away, there came a man among the people of Nephi, whose name was Sherem. 2 And it came to pass that he began to preach among the people, and to declare unto them that there should be no Christ. And he preached many things which were flattering unto the people; and this he did that he might overthrow the doctrine of Christ. 3 And he labored diligently that he might lead away the hearts of the people, insomuch that he did lead away many hearts; and he knowing that I, Jacob, had faith in Christ who should come, he sought much opportunity that he might come unto me. 4 And he was learned, that he had a perfect knowledge of the language of the people; wherefore, he could use much flattery, and much power of speech, according to the power of the devil. 5 And he had hope to shake me from the faith, notwithstanding the many revelations and the many things which I had seen concerning these things; for I truly had seen angels, and they had ministered unto me. And also, I had heard the voice of the Lord speaking unto me in very word, from time to time; wherefore, I could not be shaken.
The missionaries came for dinner and shared a spiritual thought. The newest missionary shared a spiritual insight from his personal scripture. Studying Alma 38 about Shiblon really touched him. That led my thoughts back to myself when I was a teenager and I was experiencing different emotions around my friendships and the church. At 15, 16, one night while I was laying in bed, I read Alma 38 which showed me how much Heavenly Father was aware of me and my life. He knows us all and wants to remind us that he is always close by and aware of our needs and desires. Alma 38: 2 And now, my son, I trust that I shall have great joy in you, because of your steadiness and your faithfulness unto God; for as you have commenced in your youth to look to the Lord your God, even so I hope that you will continue in keeping his commandments; for blessed is he that endureth to the end. 3 I say unto you, my son, that I have had great joy in thee already, because of thy faithfulness and thy diligence, and thy patience and thy long-suffering among the people of the Zoramites. 5 And now my son, Shiblon, I would that ye should remember, that as much as ye shall put your trust in God even so much ye shall be delivered out of your trials, and your troubles, and your afflictions, and ye shall be lifted up at the last day. bethnewellcoaching@gmail.com
What can a wrestling tournament, rodeos and concerts teach you? This weekend, I was able to go to my nieces wrestling tournament. While I was there, I had an expereience with a family that reminded me of how these 3 different kind of events that are similar but different remind me of the importance of God, country and family! Join me today as I share some of my thoughts with you about wrestling, rodeos and concerts. 7 And it came to pass that after I, Nephi, had been in the land of Bountiful for the space of many days, the voice of the Lord came unto me, saying: Arise, and get thee into the mountain. And it came to pass that I arose and went up into the mountain, and cried unto the Lord. 8 And it came to pass that the Lord spake unto me, saying: Thou shalt construct a ship, after the manner which I shall show thee, that I may carry thy people across these waters. 9 And I said: Lord, whither shall I go that I may find ore to molten, that I may make tools to construct the ship after the manner which thou hast shown unto me? 10 And it came to pass that the Lord told me whither I should go to find ore, that I might make tools. 51 And now, if the Lord has such great power, and has wrought so many miracles among the children of men, how is it that he cannot instruct me, that I should build a ship?
