Description

Hi, I’m Bruce Handler and I’m a certified professional Executive/Leadership & Life Challenges Coach. I’ve been a Human Resources professional for over three decades and have experienced several interesting and unusual behaviors. As a Coach, I help people achieve their goals by changing the way they choose to think and act. I’m most interested in psychology, human behavior and habits and what it takes for people to lead happier, more satisfying and fulfilling lives. I’m here to share my realist views about how humans behave and why, and what you can do to tackle and deal with life's challenges. I will also provide you with important as well as fun facts and interject a little humor along the way; I will challenge people’s assumptions; and maybe influence the way people think and act.

Bruce shares all of the benefits of being more likeable, a characteristic people don't think about often enough.  Being likeable is very powerful and can make your life much easier and more rewarding.  There is a quiz to help you determine your level of likability along with a top 11 list of things to do to be more likeable.  Some actions will likely be more obvious than others.   Try some of Bruce's suggestions, and you will discover how differently; more positively people will respond to you.
We all wish we were happier and there are ways we can become happier if we first understand how we have a tendency to think.  We humans lean towards negative versus positive or neutral thinking and we have a tendency to often judge and to judge things as either good or bad, positive or negative.   Bruce talks about changing your mindset and how significantly that impacts one's happiness and he spends some time on the interesting idea of neutral thinking.  We are mainly responsible for our own happiness and Bruce shares some simple but powerful ways to help you make yourselves happier.    Episode is Not LivePublish: Jan. 06, 2022 @ 8PM EditPublishAdd a TranscriptGet episode better indexed by search engines.Add Chapter MarkersListeners can tap through & see what’s coming up.Create a Visual SoundbiteBest way to share to social media for engagement.Share Episode OnFacebookTwitterLinkedInMore OptionsEmail Link to EpisodeCopyDirect Link to MP3CopyDownload MP3
Bruce tackles a controversial topic that is also one of the most important of our time.  Learn about lying and what it is, who lies the most and why, how to know when people are lying, why we need to work on lying less (even when it comes to little or white lies), and how to teach our kids (in particular our teens, to lie less). Kids start lying as early as 4 or 5 and we are the main reason why they lie.  What about conspiracy theories, and why they are the biggest lies of all, and so easily passed on and bought into by certain types of people - learn why people buy into such theories and refuse to change their minds about them even when presented with mountains of evidence to prove they are not true.   To reach Bruce:224-249-4042brucecoachcca@gmail.comCorecoachingadvantage.com

What is mindfulness?  Mindfulness is all about paying attention and to pay attention you need to engage 1 or more of your 5 senses.   When I discovered mindfulness, it became a game-changer and really helped me to reduce my stress and to live more in the moment; to stop thinking about past negative thoughts and regrets and to minimize my future thoughts of worry. There is no need to meditate to be mindful.   You can incorporate mindfulness into your daily activities, from brushing your teeth to walking.  There is even a mindful way to eat.  I hope you will try to be mindful during just one activity and see how powerful it can be and how much it can make you feel good and more relaxed and less worrisome and to operate at a higher level.

Too many parents these days are hovering over their kids; are overly involved in their child’s life, and other than working (if they do work) the parent has little else going on in their personal lives other than their kids.  Parents feel it’s their job to protect their children from anything in the world that could possibly harm them; and such parents will often direct their child’s behavior and push them to achieve. If a child has any challenge or problem or isn’t happy about something, the parent intervenes, intercedes, sticks their nose in it.  Their parents also act in a controlling manner by over scheduling their kids.Too much hovering can be a bad thing that causes kids to have issues later in life and to be un prepared for challenges they will face as adults.  Kids need to be allowed to fall, fail, and feel some pain and to have time to just be kids.  This will lead to having a more well adjusted adult who can handle life stress and not have to rely on mom or dad to bail them out when life gets tough.
Mass shootings have become a daily occurrence in the US and nothing meaningful is being done about it.  Additionally, the amount of murders in our country are at record levels.  Was this the intent of the Second Amendment?  I say no and explain why.I'll share many statistics that tell an ugly story about America when it comes to massive gun ownership, the ease at which people can own guns including semi-automatic weapons, while 22 other developed countries combined have significantly less gun violence, in particular mass shootings and how other countries have changed their laws when mass shootings occur.I've also had first hand experience with an individual who was looking to take the lives of others while having a mental breakdown, that people observed but took 30 days to report.     Most solutions I offer are pretty common but our current Senate won't agree to make any changes; however, there are things we can do to make a difference.
So, this is going to be my very first podcast where there is little to laugh about, where I won’t be using puns, satire, sarcasm, punch lines, or silly sound effects.   This episode is about body image and how it's an issue that has become an epidemic and is getting worse by the year, and how it is particularly having an extremely negative impact on girls and women.  I will share some statistics that will blow your mind and that you will find hard to believe.  They should scare you.  But there is hope.  Even though there are very negative influences out there, in particular social media, parents have the power to turn the tide and make themselves and their daughters feel better about themselves and focus less on body image.
