Life is always a lot. There is a lot going on, there are a lot of people talking to you, communicating to you, asking for something from you. So much information is always coming in at us, and because of some hardware and software whose last update was a few millennia ago, our minds tend to default to keeping itself happy.
A genuine tone. Where does it come from? It comes from a place of understanding one another, it comes from a place of honesty and empathy. But we will never know how to be genuine until we can learn to effectively listen.
What impact do people have on you? What do you do to impact others? It's amazing how much peer pressure sits beneath the surface of our everyday lives. It can make us do seemingly normal things, and it can make us act completely out of character. But Peer pressure can be used for good, and it can be used to get ahead.
In this episode we attempt to dive into the tacit side of peer pressure, the unseen dynamics of influence and how transactional our power really is. But we also dip our toes in to the ocean of empathy and self awareness, without ever saying so.
Emotional Intelligence is quite possibly the most important interpersonal muscle you can build. But what to work on, and what to flex, is not always very clear. No one is showing up to our desk or work station and saying "Hey, you--Yeah, You! This is what you'll need to succeed"
And Though we don't take this time to dig deep into EQ or how to train your own EQ muscle, we do touch on one not commonly talked about skill set you can develop that is I think a component of EQ and will mold you to think of a more well-rounded approach to people, business, and ultimately life.
In this episode we try to dig beneath the surface about a particular skill and touch lightly on conflict resolution. Take a listen on how with the development of one skill you can bust through any brick wall, any glass ceiling, or any roadblock that tries to trip you up on your journey forward.
Everyone has had their heart broken at one time or another. But what about a subtle heartbreak? You know, that under the surface, barely known to your world kind of heart break.
Tone in to find out how one interaction as a young child lead me on the search for a better understanding of why we talk the way we talk.
In this episode I attempt to walk you through not only the importance in the tone of your voice, but also how you can use your own tonality to help others ultimately help you.
This is--the beginning.
If you are new to Life | Tones this is the best place to get an idea of what the conversation is all about.
Take a listen and join in on the conversation.
I started Life | Tones for two reasons:
I needed a creative space to play with literary and philosophical ideas, as well as artistic and musical ideas.
I recognized the only real thing separating my success and someone else's was Luck, and Information.
I want to give real Life-information that could help people navigate and level the playing field. And it has become increasingly frustrating when trying to find real information that is not only correct, but useful. Whether you are a budding CEO or a middle schooler trying to figure out where you are in life -- somewhere in these audio files you will find something that you can use.
But most importantly: I firmly believe the success of me is the success of we. Meaning not only do I not have all the answers, I can barely give answers with out the feedback and inclusion of diverse ideas. Did an episode make you think of something helpful? Did you have some mental-click bait? Share, share and share some more. Don't be a hoarder!
Enjoy
