Ray Carter MA MCIPS MCMI Cert Ed – Author of “Practical Procurement” “Practical Contract Management” and “Stores and Distribution Management” and creator of the 10 (c) model
Ray is the Director of DPSS Consultants (Developing People Serving the Supply Chain), www.dpss.co.uk - which is an international training and development consultancy made up of 20 specialist consultants. He began his management career in the public sector and thereafter for a large food manufacturer in the UK. He graduated from University with a Master’s Degree in Management Studies. His first book relating to supply chain management entitled Stores Management was then followed by Integrated Materials Management, was published in 1982 and has become a recommended text for a number of courses, including the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply. This was followed by Stores and Physical Distribution, published by Liverpool Academic Press. His book Practical Procurement with Steve Kirby published by Cambridge Academic Publishing in 2006, and was followed by Practical Contract Management. Ray has had numerous articles and papers published in journals such as Supply Management and the Centre for Advanced Procurement's Praxis publication. Ray’s now famous ‘10c’s’ of supplier evaluation model, first published in 1995, has now become an accepted model for the evaluation of supplies and contractors and has been adopted by many organisations. It is also part of the CIPS level 4 syllabuses.
Until 1991 Ray was Principal Lecturer in Supply Chain Management at the Business School, University of North London. In recent years, he has undertaken training and consultancy assignments for organisations such as Shell, Chevron, ADCO, ZADCO, NDC, Royal Bank of Scotland, Coca Cola, Lucas Engineering and Systems, the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, BRC, Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij.B.V, UK Intervention Board, Ericsson, British Aerospace, Marconi, BBC, Magnox, Ordnance Survey, Chevron, Caspian Pipeline Consortium, Tengzichevroil Company, Medway Council. Ray has worked in many locations, including the Far East, the Middle East, South America, Europe and Africa. The majority of these events have been related to strategic issues in relation to supply chain management, procurement and contracting
Dr. Jas Kalra, MCIPS is an Assistant Professor in Supply Chain Management at Newcastle University Business School and an Honorary (Assistant) Professor in Supply Chain Management at UCL. Prior to this, Dr. Kalra worked as a Senior Supply Chain Researcher at University College London, University of Bath, and Alliance Manchester Business School, the University of Manchester. His research interests are at the nexus of procurement, complex projects, and professional services. Specifically, his research focuses on how organisations set up and orchestrate inter-organisational networks to create, access, and operationalise assets, resources, and capabilities without owning them. Dr. Kalra’s research has been published in leading international academic outlets such as Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, Production Planning & Control, and Oxford Handbook of Supply Chain Management. Dr. Muddassir Ahmed is a Manufacturing Operations, Procurement and Supply Chain leader from international multi-site manufacturing experience in Electrical, Hydraulics and Internet industries. With considerable experience in deploying Continuous Improvement best practices in Europe, Middle East & Africa.
Dr. Muddassir Ahmed has received a Ph.D. in Management Science from Lancaster University Management School, a MSc. in Management of Production from Chalmers University of Technology, Göteborg, Sweden and a B.E. in Textile Engineering from NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi, Pakistan. Salisu Uba is a seasoned Procurement and supply chain leader with more than a decade of experience across multiple sectors, including the oil and gas, finance, defence and the public sector in Africa, the Middle East and the UK.
In his current role as a Commercial and Procurement Consultant with Evolve Commercial, Salisu is responsible for technology procurement and commercial business development and offerings. Before this, Salisu was the Managing Partner/Global Supply Chain Consultant at NatQuest Limited – a supply chain firm in Nigeria. In addition, he is currently undertaking a research programme on the adoption of Blockchain technology in the oil and gas supply chain at the University of Strathclyde Glasgow UK.
He has managed and led new start-ups, organisational transformation and change across functions and regions, including recently, Africa Chamber of Digital Commerce, Home Eat Nigeria, etc. He has the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) fellowship, an MSc in Supply Chain Management from Aberdeen Business School RGU, U.K. and a PhD from the University of Strathclyde Glasgow.
Over the course of her 20-year career, which saw her work in Consumer Goods and Pharmaceuticals, Azukaego Chukwuelue has gained versatility and depth working across different fields in Sub-Saharan Africa, including Sales and Supply Chain.
With competencies in revenue growth, international logistics, demand forecasting and supply network design, she is the go-to person for troubleshooting potential operational loopholes that span across forecasting and planning, customer relationship management, distributor management dynamics, RTM & Channel development strategies, idea to market, marketing mix strategies, logistics distributions cost models, efficient procure to pay models, warehousing, import and export operations amongst others. Azukaego Chukwuelue is passionate about continuous development, as well as leadership development in Africa, and she spends a big part of her time advocating for the improvement of supply chain structures and capabilities in the sector.
Duncan Brock is a member of the leadership team of CIPS. His main role is to ensure that CIPS provides its corporate and public sector customers globally with products and services that help them develop and improve their procurement and supply team’s capability. In addition, he is responsible for increasing the number of offices and partners that CIPS has globally, with a particular focus this year on the USA. Duncan has over 30 years procurement experience as a change driver working with senior executives and procurement leadership teams in the design and mobilisation of business-wide procurement processes & delivering improved business benefits. He’s had a specific interest throughout his career on implementing category management and developing the skills and capabilities of procurement teams. His procurement experience comes from working for Ford, Mars, Black & Decker, NTL (now Virgin Media) and RSA. As a senior consultant he worked for QP Group and Future Purchasing with clients such as Diageo, Barclays & Nestlé. Duncan regularly chairs & presents at procurement and supply conferences and forums, and is a spokesperson for CIPS for media interviews.
Meet Dr Ayanda Nteta (FCIPS) is a seasoned supply chain executive in the energy, manufacturing, banking and telecoms industries across various African countries. She has 20 years’ experience and an established track record in strategic sourcing, contract negotiations and supply chain for complex commodities. He is a Zambian national based in Rome, at the World Food Programme headquarters, where he is responsible for procurement to support food and financial aid to over 100 million people in distress, in 84 countries, with an annual spent of USD$ 4 Billion for the World Food Programme. WFP is a UN agency for provision of food. He started his career in finance and transitioned to supply chain. Channon relies on his questioning skills to understand stakeholders needs resulting in problem solving. He makes an interesting connection between ethics and value for money.
