We have made it 200 episodes! What better way to celebrate than to complain about the US Ryder Cup team after their epic beat down at the hands of the Europeans once again. We break down all that went wrong, who was to blame, what we would have done differently, and how we think it needs to be fixed. We also touch on the envelope rule and fan behavior as well. Enjoy!
We have a surprise on this week's show! It was like old times this week with all kinds of rabbit holes and random golf discussions, plus a little arguing. We start with a discussion about club events after a big win from Jay. A discussion on amateur status happens after many former pros are getting their status back and competing at the USGA Mid-Am. Somehow a discussion on the Champions Tour popped up. We then get into some topics regarding the upcoming Ryder Cup.
Tommy finally got his win! We discuss the win for our guy at the Tour Championship before getting in-depth on the Ryder Cup. Both Captains have made their picks and the teams are set. We give our thoughts on the Captains picks and any snubs there might have been. Was it a smart choice for Keegan to leave himself off the team? Who has the edge and playing better right now? Thanks for tuning in as always!
Guess who's back?? After an extended break, Mike and Jay are back to discuss what is going on in the world of golf. The show starts off with some catching up that leads into an amateur handicap discussion. We then do our best to keep breaking down Scottie's brilliance and discuss what makes him so good. We tie that a little bit into how amateurs can help lower their own scores and how they can look at improvement. Since we last did a show, Tommy Fleetwood let two events slip away. While we are big fans of Tommy, we question whether he will ever get it done. There is then a deep dive into the Ryder Cup teams. Who should the captain's picks be next week? Is the European team the favorite right now? We then discuss the Tour Championship this coming week and give our winners for the event.
JJ Spaun is your US Open champion! It was quite a week at quite a course for this year's US Open and we break it all down. We give our thoughts on JJ's breakout win as well as some of the other top contenders. How did we feel the course played? Did Sam Burns get a bad ruling and did it cost him? We of course chat about Rory and his comments during the event. We take a quick look at Ryder Cup standings after an important week for the players. Also, the PGA Tour has a new boss, will it be good for the game? The show finishes with our picks for this week's Travelers Championship.
Two man show again and the RBC Canadian Open kicks off the conversation with a little breakdown of the playoff between Ryan Fox and Sam Burns. Then we get into Rory McIlroy and what is going on with him. How concerned should we be? We discuss his performance, his driver, his media availability and mental state. We then get into the preview of this week's US Open at Oakmont. It is sure to be a hard test but is it going to be entertaining? What kind of players will play well this week? We chat about how some of the favorites will stack up and cap the show with our weekly DraftKings picks.
Mike and Jay back at it for another 2-man show. They start off by discussing some topics regarding Ben Griffin's first solo win. After they dive into the statistics of both Scottie Scheffler and Tommy Fleetwood. Is Tommy the new Finau? Why can't he win? Also, they look at what really makes Scottie so good. It was then time for a Ryder Cup check-in and see where both teams stack up at this point in the season. Is Europe the favorite? A few other small items are discussed prior to their selections on DraftKings for this week's Memorial Tournament.
Scottie gets his revenge at the PGA Championship and wins his third major. We discuss his "Tiger-like" approach and his mentality that separates him from the rest of the field. We also chat about many of the other top players- Rory, Bryson, and Rahm. Driver testing is discussed after many players had drivers taken out of play. Do we agree with this testing? Also, what are our thoughts on the mud ball situation and lift, clean and place policies on tour? Some comments about Quail Hollow made headlines and we discussed our thoughts on the venue.
After a little hiatus, the guys get caught up on some of the big topics in golf from the last couple of weeks.
