Fact Check My Jesus!

Fact Check My Jesus!

2022-10-2301:02:08

Did Jesus Christ have the character that many people in today's age believe he did? Does the modern interpretation of scripture have it all wrong? Mike speaks with Justin Campbell about the problems facing Progressive Christianity, the lack leadership in many churches, and the fine line between satire, and truthful information.  For too many people, their understanding of Biblical writings must be fact-checked. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-invictus-mind/support
An abusive childhood drove her away from her right-wing, Christian upbringing. As an adult, she repressed her feelings by diving into left-wing politics and alcoholism.  Triggered by the election of Donald Trump, a panic attack and night of heavy drinking sent her on a downward spiral.   Tamara Young, host of the Recovering Liberal podcast, shares her story about starting a family in the midst of a world-wide pandemic which caused her to question the narrative after having an adverse reaction to the "jab".  Being told that her motherly concerns come second to the advice of experts forced a new desire to uncover the truth behind a nefarious political movement.  She now attests a spiritual revival which is changing her ideologies once again. Even under the lowest levels of depravity, and the guilt and shame associated with it, redemption can be achieved through the grace of Christ.   When the FBI and Vice Police showed up at his door to question him about his connection to a local child pornographer, Michael Chestnut feared his life was over.   Though he was not guilty of any crime, the enticing alure of an adult chat room led him to cross many lines which cost his marriage, his relationship with his daughter, his job, and his self-respect.  After struggling through years of repressing a traumatic molestation, his secret life and exposure to same sex pornography was brought to light in a devasting way.   Though he carried his guilt for years, a near death experience and the help of a friend and Christian counselor helped him make restitution.  Now, as the author of the book Secret Emails, Lies, Divorce and a Journey to Restoration he tells his story to help men facing adversity overcome their trials. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-invictus-mind/support
Inside every living person there exists a piece of the past that is painful, shameful, or regrettable, but then, even the darkest of situations help shape the people we become in the end. Alicia Luca Dean is a blogger, an author, and a pastor's wife.   She shares her story about over coming personal family challenges in her youth, while finding her faith to move forward, despite coming from a broken home.   As a homeschool mother speaks about protecting the innocence of children in a world that is scary and contentious. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-invictus-mind/support
The Age of Information is neither good nor bad, but access to knowledge can lead to confusion and even spiritual harm.  Using religious terminology, quoting verses out of context, and discussing Biblical ideas from different perspectives results in a non-productive dialogue and is often damaging to each individual.  In this episode Mike speaks to Adam Patrick about hermeneutics and exegesis, as they discuss the distinctions of Orthodox Christianity and that of a Latter-Day Saint.  Is there a difference between being a Theologian and a Prophet? --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-invictus-mind/support
The recent events of the pandemic have raised red flags towards Western medicine and the pharmaceutical industry. Often, the origins of health conditions and other illnesses are overlooked leaving only the symptoms addressed and the root causes neglected.   Mike speaks with Monique Jose, a Certified Body Code Practitioner about alternative and holistic approaches to healing energy imbalances, supplemental and plant medicines, essential oils, and acupuncture. Addiction of any kind can be devastating to one's self-esteem, happiness, and well-being. Sadly, however, many addictions are more socially acceptable than others. Pornography is especially pernicious because it's effects cause damage to children and adults alike.  Unlike other vices, pornography is to the user more affordable, more accessible, and more anonymous. Many under its submission are ashamed, embarrassed, and uneasy about seeking the help they need to emancipate themselves of the burden they carry.   In this episode Mike speaks with a mental health nurse practitioner, Isaiah Cruz, about the various recovery programs available to those seeking treatment. While there is a myriad of counseling services, including faith-based programs, 12-step recovery models, and accountability exercises, psychiatry has shown that these methods show only a 4% success rate and medication assisted treatment show a 50% success rate within 1-2 years.    Though the use of SSRIs is controversial and prompts many questions, sometimes addiction recovery must be addressed immediately when no other alternative methods are working. The post-Christian world seems to have forgotten or will not recognize the mystical aspects of Christianity. Religious arguments over the doctrines of grace and works stem from a misunderstanding of the importance of ordinances performed and the power they have within a given faith.   As the Western world seems to be falling into nihilism and meaninglessness, many influencers are flocking towards Eastern religions that claim an unbroken 2000-year tradition to find truth.  Questions about the enlightenment, materialism, and the nature of government infiltrating religion itself address the issue as to where the modern-day Woke movement came from.     Mike and his brother Jason discuss their religion, Mormonism, as a restoration of lost truths and how the culture of the church differs from the doctrines taught by its founder. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-invictus-mind/support
Unlike most cultures, the United States offers no rite of passage for boys into manhood.   Adolescence is a 20th century invention that has softened men, who have lost their true identity as leaders and protectors.  Without guidance, the youth are left to redefine liberty as having the ability to do whatever they want and enslaving themselves to their own desires.   Wes Carey, Founder of the King's Guard Ministry discusses the brotherhood he built while serving in the US Army as a green beret. Through the teachings of the Gospel of Christ, he helps men discover their own potential, understand true discipleship, and retake masculinity. How would your life change if you were an effective communicator?   Studies have shown that people are more afraid of public speaking than they are of death.  Why? It's because from the time we are young we are made to believe that speaking is a chore, or an assignment in school to be graded on and with random, non-personal subjects.   But the key to any successful relationship, whether personal or professional, is knowing how to effectively communicate ideas, asking proper questions, and disciplining ourselves to master the craft.  Brenden Kumarasamy is the founder of Master Talk, an online speaking coach. In this episode we discuss three easy and immediate exercises to enhance our skillsets to be great at speaking effectively in order to get what we want the most out of life!  Get hosted or find talent for podcasting:  https://podmatch.com/signup/invictus --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-invictus-mind/support
Finding Washington!

Finding Washington!

2022-07-1801:05:28

George Washington was a man of his time, and like all people he had within him both virtue and iniquity. History remembers America's first President in many ways, but despite the horrible atrocity of owning slaves, he also expressed the character traits of honor, duty, and integrity.   In a culture seemingly being lost to depravity, division, and deceit we should look to men like Washington to restore the values that made America the great nation it once was.   Author, Richard Raines discusses his book Finding Washington, Why America Needs to Rediscover the Virtues of Her Most Essential Founding Father. Traumatic experiences could have a lasting effect on our self-esteem, our psychology, and our overall health and nutrition.   Coach Jonathan McLernon overcame it all.  After surviving a near death experience of being jumped and brutally beaten, coping with the damaging effects to his psyche, he became morbidly obese, and shortly thereafter he lost his business to a narcissistic partner.  When once he found his own mentor and coach a simple question helped him turn it all around.  Since then, he has discovered his true calling as a personal business and nutritional coach to others by teaching the principle; humility is not thinking less of yourself, but rather thinking of yourself less. Academia takes four years to prepare a student for could take six months! The rapid technological changes of the Digital Age require adaptation and constant learning of new skills.  In this episode Mike discusses how a tenured college professor, Dr. Emily Hill, made a transition into a business owner teaching others how to earn $100,000 or more by learning coding and software development.   Entrepreneurism is the key to sovereignty, and taking risks requires finding a work/life balance and developing a deep faith or philosophy other that of oneself. For most Americans, the rising costs of healthcare is a determining factor in the political arena.  What incentives are in place that might need a reform?  Is it possible for a company to disconnect itself from the revenue coverage mechanism, so no matter what the costs of care are, the providers are agnostic to it?  In this conversation Dr. Allen Kamrava, a Board Certified General and Colon/Rectal surgeon and Founder of the company Eusoh.com discusses the first peer to peer, decentralized crowd-funded alternative to pet insurance.  Is this a model that can be used for human healthcare?    Later, the discussion moves to why doctors become corrupt, the challenges they face in business, and the culture war facing America.  The Woke movement is about bullying and silencing its opposition.  Every person practices some type of religion, albeit sometimes taking God out of the conversation.   Is there a place for the word “Miracle” in science and medical textbooks?    The Invictus Mind podcast can be found on Stitcher, Spotify, Castbox, Apple, and Anchor.fm. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-invictus-mind/support
