What does it truly mean to come home? In Luke 15, we encounter one of the most powerful stories Jesus ever told -- a story about a son who takes his inheritance, runs toward what he thinks is freedom, and ends up empty, broken, and feeding pigs in a distant country. But here is the remarkable twist: while the son is still far off, the father sees him and runs. Not walks. Runs. In a culture where no dignified man would ever do such a thing, the father throws dignity aside and sprints toward his lost child. This image shatters every assumption we might have about how God responds to our failures. The story forces us to confront a deep spiritual truth -- sin always promises what it cannot deliver. It lures us with the idea that life would be better if we were in control, if we built something apart from God. But the distant country always runs out. The famine always comes. And when it does, we are left hungry for something the world simply cannot provide. The turning point in the story is a single phrase: "when he came to his senses." Repentance is not just regret -- it is a decisive turn away from what has been destroying us and a movement back toward the Father. What does it truly mean to be sent on a mission that is bigger than ourselves? That is the question at the heart of this message, rooted in the Great Commission found in Matthew 28. Before Jesus gives his followers their marching orders, he establishes something foundational: all authority in heaven and on earth belongs to him. That authority is not a theoretical claim. It is backed by the most staggering event in human history, the resurrection. A dead man walked out of a grave, and that changes everything about how we understand our purpose. The message draws us into three powerful truths that flow from this passage. His authority sends us, his command directs us, and his presence sustains us. Together, these truths reframe how we see our everyday lives. We are not just people going through routines. We are people who carry the good news of a risen King into every relationship, workplace, and neighborhood we inhabit. The mission is not reserved for those on a stage or behind a pulpit. It belongs to all of us, and it begins the moment we encounter Jesus.

As a new season begins, it is easy to let our schedules fill up and simply drift back into familiar routines. But what if this moment is not a return to the ordinary, but an invitation to something entirely new? Drawing from Isaiah 43, we are reminded that the same God who made a way through the Red Sea for the Israelites is the same God who wants to make a way for us right now. The passage calls us to stop dwelling on the past, not because the past does not matter, but because God is actively doing something new and we risk missing it entirely if our eyes are fixed backward. The spiritual lesson here is both challenging and liberating: our best days are not behind us. God's miraculous work in our history is not the ceiling of what He can do. It is merely a foundation for what He wants to do next. What do we do with everything God has shown us? That is the question at the heart of this powerful message drawn from Psalm 145, the final Psalm of David in the entire book. David was a man who had seen it all -- tremendous victories and crushing failures, mountain-top moments and dark valleys -- and yet through every season, he arrived at the same conclusion: God is worthy of our praise. What makes this Psalm so striking is that David does not wait for the right circumstances or the right emotions before deciding to worship. He pre-decides. He declares that no matter what comes, no matter what he feels, his life will be oriented toward glorifying God. That kind of intentional, unwavering devotion is the model held up before us, and it challenges us to ask whether we have made the same decision for our own lives. The message also draws on the pattern seen throughout scripture of God's people forgetting what he has done -- just as the Israelites, fresh from witnessing the parting of the Red Sea, found themselves longing to return to slavery in Egypt. Their present circumstances drowned out their memories of God's faithfulness. What if the most profound things we could ever know about God cannot be found in a book alone, but only through the lived experience of walking with him? That is the heart of what we explore through Psalm 139, where David does not simply recite theological facts about God but pours out the overflow of a life spent in God's presence. David walks us through three staggering truths he has personally encountered: that God is all-knowing, that God is everywhere, and that God is all-powerful. These are not abstract doctrines to him.
