Short has worked in various fields since completing his Bachelor’s degree from Howard University in 1987. Since his early teens, Short worked as a volunteer for Washington City Councilman William Spaulding and for Congressman Walter Fauntroy and worked for New Jersey Congressman Robert Torricelli. After completing his B.S. at Howard University. Short was executive assistant to the President of the National Corporation for Housing Partnerships in Washington, until he relocated to Boston to attend Harvard in 1988. Short has worked in media PBS NewsHour,  Boston’s experimental television program “The Group”  (WGBH 1991), the Voice of America Portuguese Africa Division, the Washington Post, the Washington Afro-American, News Dimensions, and for university publications (Howard University Hilltop, Howard University Law School Barrister, District Chronicles, and University of Virginia’s Pride, Skandaline, Cavalier Daily/University Journal). Short began doing radio programs in the 1970s at WYCB 1340 AM, and has been featured guest on Radio One (WOL), WPFW (Washington, D.C.), WCHB (Detroit), KPFA (Los Angeles), and WBAI (New York City). Dr. Short has been featured as a guest on radio, film productions, and television programs since the 1970s starting with the National Park Service’ “Vegetable Olympics” (1976), It’s Academic (1980-1983), the Charlie Rose Show (1980), Teen Exchange (1981-1983), BET Teen Summit (1995-1997), The Joe Madison Show (1997-1998) WHMM Ethical Forum (1984-1985), Carol Randolph Show (1987), the McNeil Lehrer NewsHour (1987), and the Phil Donahue Show (1986), Lew Colson Show (1994-1996), Eric Saint James Show (1994-1996), Audrey Chapman Show (1999), and the Carl Nelson Show (2015-2018).
