Description

Welcome to Open Premise: the show where my guest comes up with the premise to each episode! The thing I love about recording this podcast is that I truly never know what to expect. I ask fun, interesting, and talented guests to join me, and I’m always surprised and thrilled by the creative premises they throw my way. I have no control over my own show, and I wouldn’t trade that for the world. This is Open Premise.

Lily Meyer is a standup comedian and interesting person living in the Twin Cities. I could talk to her forever!  You can find her on Instagram @lilyymeyyer You can find me on Instagram at @ethanyeshaya and @openpremise
29-year-old comedian Brendan Gay joins me for episode 29! We talk about driving the school bus, celebrity freak-outs, and other things we want off our chest. This guy rules!
Elliott McVey is a 20-year-old standup comedian! He's so funny and makes me wish I started comedy earlier. What a guy! Elliott and I discuss our music taste from middle school. Does it hold up? I guess you're about to find out.  You can find me on Instagram @ethanyeshaya You can find Elliott on Instagram at @smelloti
Rudy Pavich is a comedian, podcaster, radio DJ, and actor. He helps create content for Dana Carvey, Adam Carolla, and others. The dude rocks. We sit back and talk!  You can find Rudy on Instagram @rudy_pavich You can find me on Instagram @ethanyeshaya and @openpremise
Betsy Stover is a comedian-improviser and actor based in Los Angeles. She's been working with and teaching at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater since 1997. She hosts a hilarious podcast called Why Mommy Drinks (check it out!) Betsy joins me today to keep me company while I suffer symptoms of COVID-19. She's hilarious and thoughtful! Enjoy!
Old friend and funny person Lucy Zarns joins me to talk Disney Chanel Original Movies. Talking High School Musical with her really hit a chord because we met doing our own high school musicals. We decided to really Get Our Head In The Game and record an episode to end all episodes. Enjoy! You can find Lucy on Instagram @LucyZarns You can find me on Instagram @ethanyeshaya and @openpremise
Arman Shah (hilarious Minneapolis comedian) joins me to talk magic. But he can't stop talking about death. And I can't stop talking about how much I love horror. We find a way to connect it all (I think?) You can find Arman on Instagram @amazingarman You can find me on Instagram @ethanyeshaya and @openpremise
Cole Benson (musician/funny man) is a very old and dear friend. But we haven't really seen each other since middle school. Back then it was ding, dong, ditch. Now it's ding, dong, fuck, rent is due.  He's older, wiser, and more hilarious than ever.  We talk box office bombs, and I cut out a large portion of the episode where we both talk about a very odd person we both know.
Want the hottest, most salacious episode of any podcast? It's this one. I finally meet my stepbrother (kinda, not really. Our parents are in a relationship.) His name is Itamar Levi. This guy is so awesome and hanging over Zoom bummed me out because I wish we could hang in person.   You can find Itamar on Instagram @i.m.levi You can find me on Instagram @openpremise and @ethanyeshaya
Conrad joins me to celebrate 20 episodes and 20 years of this podcast. Enjoy!!!
Zack Arnold is one of the founders of The Perfect Jean. You may recognize the product from You Made It Weird with Pete Holmes or their hilarious ads on Instagram and Snapchat. Today, Zack and I talk intergenerational debates on style, and the penises you have "grown" to love in TV and film.  You can find Zack and The Perfect Jean on Instagram @theperfectjean or buy a pair from theperfectjean.nyc You can find me on Instagram @openpremise or @ethanyeshaya
Laura Walsh is one of the funniest people I've ever met. Today, Laura brings me a premise very dear to my heart: Imposter Syndrome. I have it, Laura has it, you probably have it.  You can find Laura on Instagram @walshyourself You can find me on Instagram @openpremise and @ethanyeshaya
James Stanley (ACME Comedy Co. house emcee) is a kick-ass Twin Cities-based standup comedian. James and I talk comedy, autism, mental health, and more. James is the best!
Ateh Ekinde is a Twin Cities-based stand-up comedian. Today, Ateh presents a variety of fun premises and explains to me the unique and smart way he writes jokes.  You can find Ateh on Instagram @atehkarate You can find me on Instagram @openpremise and @ethanyeshaya
Drew Page is a bankruptcy attorney and recovering thespian from the Twin Cities. Today, Drew and I will be your personal tour guides of the great state of Minnesota (to the best of our abilities.) Drew and I are also joined by Drew's adorable dog, Otis. You may not hear Otis on the recording, but you can feel him. He's warm and fluffy.  You can find Drew on Instagram @drewonapage You can find me on Instagram @openpremise and @ethanyeshaya
Lisa Evanson is a comedian, actor, and public speaker from the Twin Cities. Today, Lisa sits me down to talk friendship. Emma Dalenberg is a standup comedian from the Twin Cities. She was recently a finalist of the Sisyphus Brewing Funniest Person Contest. She's killing. We get big and existential and small and goofy.  You can find Emma on Instagram @emmadcomedy You can find me on Instagram @openpremise and @ethanyeshaya, or shoot an email to openpremise@gmail.com
Gabby Humphreys is a Ph.D. student, lecturer, and bookworm from Liverpool, UK. I discovered Gabby on bookstagram (that fun corner of Instagram for book nerds) and was taken immediately by her hilarious videos and amazing content.  Today, Gabby presents to me a list of things that wake her up at night in a cold sweat, and we discuss each one.  You can find Gabby on Instagram @humphreads  You can find me on Instagram @openpremise and @ethanyeshaya
Lahiru Samarasinghe is a Twin Cities-based comedian, writer, and engineer. We went to high school together but truly weren't friends until we started doing comedy together years later. Today Lahiru brings me a sort of mind game based on March Madness, but all about standup comedy. First, he had to explain to me what March Madness was.  You can find Lahiru on Instagram @itslahiru and on Venmo @Lahiru (How did he get that?) You can find me on Instagram @openpremise and @ethanyeshaya
Kate McCarthy is a comedian from San Fransisco and LA and New York and Minneapolis. She is from America. She is absolutely hilarious. I'm still surprised she agreed to be on my show??? I'm so glad she did. She brought with her a topic I knew a thing or two about: 3-sibling families. It just so happens I come from one myself.  You can find Kate on Instagram @slimeman666 You can find me on Instagram @openpremise and @ethanyeshaya
