Episode #0534! Mike, Ken, and Randy return once again to "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" to review its eighth paid downloadable content pack, this time covering the second part of the "Dragon Ball Daima" series! After coming in so high from the first half, we wonder what the heck happened this time around, and what some of the underlying issues could have been either from the source material or the game development itself.
Mike chats with JP from The Space Above Us for another round of space talk! In Dragon Ball Z episode 50 filler, we see Goku do some repairs on his spaceship and need to correct course due to Dr. Brief's coordinates tracking -- is any of this realistic? Questions from the community dive deeper into the spaceship from Dragon Ball GT, destroying planets, and more... and we also take a look at an article from the Dragon Ball Official site about humans potentially surviving on Namek!
Episode #0532! Mike chats with Von about Manga Barcelona 2025, held earlier this month in Spain, where the guest list included Takashi Matsuyama (Akira Toriyama's second assistant, and legend in his own right). Tune in for some of the best stories and tidbits to come out of the event... including what may be an unknown production tidbit?!
Episode #0531! Mike and Jay chat about the pre-smartphone world of Dragon Ball mobile gaming, and in particular, Jay's work on digging into and porting the "Dragon Ball Racing" mobile game to the PlayStation 2! Tune in for a whirlwind tour through this oft-forgotten side-niche of games and learn what's on the horizon for those looking to learn more.
Episode #0530! For our 20th podcast-iversary, Mike dives back into what we covered on the show all the way back in November 2005. A three-disc movie boxset from FUNimation was on the horizon (finally bringing DB movie 2 out of VHS-Hell), while Dragon Box: The Movies was on its way in Japan. Randy joins for a look back at the original "Dragon Ball Z: Sparking!" on the PS2, which we also covered back on the first episode of the podcast. Heath then pops in for a little self-indulgent retrospective about the show and what we envision for the future. Here's to another 20 years of the podcast!
Episode #0529! Mike regales listeners first with a journey into the history behind the Title Page Popularity Poll (whose results were originally published alongside Dragon Ball chapter 12), before journeying even further west with a review of "Bonds" (out now from Manga Mavericks Books).
Episode #0528! Recorded live at Otakon 2025, Mike presents a whirlwind tour through various (non-Dr. Slump/Dragon Ball) animated works and adaptations from the world of Akira Toriyama!
Episode #0527! Mike, Ken, and Randy return once again to "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" to review its seventh paid downloadable content pack, this time covering the first part of the "Dragon Ball Daima" series! Especially coming from episodes that sure felt like an RPG journey, how does this then translate over into an actual video game? Have we found the best way to experience the Daima Wonderland...?!
Episode #0526! Mike chats with Von about Japan Expo 2025, held earlier this month in Paris, where the guest list included Kazuhiko Torishima, Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, and Toyotaro. Tune in for some of the best stories and tidbits to come out of the event!
Episode #0525! Mike brings on a panel of special guests to chat with the Kanzenshuu Patreon community in a special live stream broadcast! We field questions about everything from manga release history to video games and everything in between.
Episode #0524! Mike catches up with Randy from We Gotta Podcast, who is celebrating a 100+ episode milestone. What brought them all together, what keeps them going, and why are they just so gosh darn nice?!
Episode #0523! Mike catches up with Zénpai, who is now the official translator for an all-new Dragon Ball manga release in Portugal! How did this all come about, how is the release going, what has the feedback been, and what all benefits do we as a broader international community get out of it?!
Episode #0522! Mike speaks with David Evelyn, translator on the new English language release of "Dr. Mashirito's Ultimate Manga Techniques" from Viz. What are some of the fun stories and lessons from the book, and what other great stories does David have to share? Grab the book, tune in, and find out!
Episode #0521! Mike speaks with Von from France about the Made in Asia convention from March 2025, which had Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru and Chikashi Kubota in attendance. We get the scoop on some behind-the-scenes production tidbits, pressing fan questions, and a whole lot of great chat about artwork over the years!
Episode #0520! Mike and Ajay revisit "Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F'" for its 10th anniversary. Often looked back upon as the black sheep of the revival-era animated products, what does it have to offer audiences these days, particularly in light of its re-adaptation into the "Dragon Ball Super" television series?
Episode #0519! Mike interviews Brandon Bovia, letterer on the English release of the Dragon Ball Super manga from Viz. What exactly does a "letterer" do, how does that work differ between a simulpub and collected volume release, and what all else goes into bringing manga chapters to English?
Episode #0518! Mike interviews Rocco from Mega64 about his introduction to Dragon Ball, figure collecting, Mega64's five-minute live-action DBZ sketches, ssj8 (99 percent sure is real), and more!
Episode #0517! Mike, Ken, and Ajay review the complete "Dragon Ball Daima" television series! Over these 20 episodes, what new concepts are introduced/reintroduced, what lore conflicts are we still reeling from, how did the art and animation hold up with such a prolonged production timeframe... and did we like it?
Episode #0516! Mike and Randy chat about the North American Dragon Ball Daima Tour before turning their attention to the first half(?) of Dragon Ball Daima itself. How are we feeling about all the usual stuff like story, pacing, and production values? What hopes do we still have? Stick around for a short Dragon Quest III HD-2D wrap-up chat afterward!
This is Fanzenshuu... Okay, that's not a thing. We may not be fusing with Kanzenshuu, but we wished upon the Dragon Balls to summon them for the task of discussing Akira Toriyama's legendary franchise as it hits 40 years strong. Between Toriyama's passing and the first new TV series in 9 years, this year has given us a lot to think about for this big anniversary. Kestrel is joined by Cain, Brandon for the first time in a while, and of course the respective founders of the highly detailed Dragon Ball fan sites that would fuse to become the all-encompassing Kanzenshuu. We cover the franchise as well as Kanzenshuu and its predecessors, and like any good battle in DBZ, it takes way longer than we expect.
