Dirty Epic welcomes aboard @amx313 for the 129th installment of Amplify Series. The AM , more recently known as AMX, comes from the Detroit - Berlin school of techno. She began to release electro tracks with catchy vocals under the monicker AMX while touring Europe and South America in 2023, starting out with “Ride.” On NYC’s Haus of Altr label. Followed by the “Werk it” collaboration on International Chrome. She returned to the Tresor label in spring of 2024 as AMX for their collaboration with Carhartt WIP for a various artists compilation that celebrates two music metropolises, Detroit, and Berlin. In March 2025, AMX merged her monthly residency in Detroit, into her own record label under the same moniker ‘Realms of Techno’ featuring artists like Detroit in Effect and Father Dukes. Cuba's Åre:gone & Uruguayan William Arist return to Lady Tazz's Mind Medizin with shadowy deep techno excellence. Åre:gone is Havana-born but now Miami-based, having left the repression of his homeland in search of creative freedom. Before leaving, he was a core part of the national scene with both the Vórtice and Rusty Nails collectives, which promoted proper underground techno. He has been crafting his own groovy, organic, and heady sounds for a decade and was last on this label back in 2023 with his ‘Latin Lover’ EP.' Sorry, But I Don't Understand' is his fantastic opener, a spacious affair driven by deep kicks and glitchy claps scattered throughout the mix, next to warped synths and sultry spoken words. 'Minimo Tecnico' has a tougher undercurrent but remains stripped back. Deft details evoke deserted, post-human landscapes that keep the mind busy as the body succumbs to the rhythm of the drums. Espacio Sonoro music school teacher William Arist has also landed here before with his Neo Groove EP in 2023. The Montevideo native operates at the heavier end of the techno spectrum on labels such as Uncage, Planet Rhythm, and Bek Audio, and also has his own label, Perseverancia Records. He kicks off with 'Universal Language', which mixes up tribal hits and unresolved loops that lock you in a moment where time dissolves. Closer 'Tecnica Ancestral' cuts loose with a jumbled off off-grid hits and wiry synths darting about the mix like pinballs. Mary Yuzovskaya’s Monday Off rounds out 2025 with its eighth vinyl-only various artists compilation, arriving 12th December, featuring Feph, Rasser, Mathys Lenne, and Xhato. Opening the record is Florida’s Feph, co-operator of Alchemista Records and Zosimos, with ‘A Realization’, where wild electric currents crackle over a subtle, sharp beat as shocks and zaps scatter into the darkness. Spanish DJ and producer Rasser follows with ‘Constant Pulse’, a hulking techno chugger of warped rhythms and hammering metallic hits. On the flip, France-born Germany-based Mathys Lenne, known for outings on Mord, ORBE, and Blue Hour, offers ‘A Gentle Singularity’, its tumbling percussion and drone-like synth casting a hypnotic spell while sparkling high-end shimmers above. Previous Monday Off contributor Xhato then closes with ‘Lemon Swirl’ , a mystical finisher where soft sequences snake through brooding ambience, providing a guiding light as the kick drum marches resolutely. Launched while working at the now-closed Brooklyn record store Halcyon The Shop in 2017, Mary Yuzovskaya’s Monday Off has since become a home for hypnotic excellence on wax, matching her own reputation as a formidable vinyl-only DJ and Techno producer. Shanti has made textured waves in Chicago’s techno scene with her curation of dark, sinister, and ethereal soundscapes. Music has always been a means of coping with the otherness and hybridity Shanti experienced throughout her life. She has been deeply moved by the transcendent ability of music to express concepts, states of consciousness, and conflicting emotions. Shanti’s sets weave a story of the simultaneous despair and yearning that are intertwined with the human condition and illustrate an intentional trajectory through combining and cultivating surreal, atmospheric, and haunting sounds. Enamored by the liminal dynamics of sound, she cohosts Otherworldly Ambiguity with Scum.ee –an experience that is centered around the phenomenon of existing in between and outside of pre-existing concepts and rigid categories. She is also a member of techno collective Research & Development and hosts a monthly radio show, “Liminal Radio” on WIIT 88.9 FM featuring thoughtful artists at the core of Chicago’s underground music scene. Experiencing music outside of the confines of a club or the underground is extremely important to Shanti as she had initially discovered her favorite artists through online podcasts and radio. The universalizability of podcasts and radio enable music to be experienced by more humans situated in different contexts. This is why she has contributed to many notable online mix series and radio channels. Her mixes have been featured on The Black Lodge Radio, SutroFM, Mutant Radio, PPRZ, Distant Signals, Death Decay & Magic, Braid Records, Low Visibility, Dance All Day, and m50’s etc radio among other podcasts and shows. "For this closing set, I wanted to cultivate an atmosphere of releasing the turbulent emotions we have been experiencing in Chicago as a community. I anticipated the desire for this release but experiencing it in the subterranean context of Smartbar - in the darkness - in real time- felt so powerful and transcendent. I’m always hungry for new sound experiences, and I’ll put all my soul into it." - Raffaele Attanasio The confines of contemporary music often ensnare a musician in a particular sound. Wrapped up in a box that defines and sells the 'product', that it's easier to digest for the modern consumer. It operates on a plane where it is assimilated in tiny soundbites that are quickly digested and moved on. Sound can get lost amongst trying to 'make it' or get likes. Music is not lost though; it exists as it always has and the passion for composing transcendent and transportive tracks exists in an artist like Raffaele Attanasio. Born to a musician father in his home city of Naples, Attanasio was only satiated when listening to virtuoso maestros like Il Guardiano del Faro and Keith Emerson. Developing his prodigious ear, he trained on drums and then piano and his auspicious ability become apparent early. In his late teens, he ventured into DJing and electronic music production and has garnered plaudits from Jeff Mills, Len Faki and Ben Sims; even performing with Mills in a B2B live set and also Octave One. He found a home within the electronic music community, heading his own label Letter From Jerusalem, and releasing on others, such as Third Wave Black and Non Series. His label even released music from Douglas McCarthy of the band Nitzer Ebb. What has never been lost on Attanasio is his eclectic flair. His releases span from nefarious techno - even releasing under his X-501 alias - to riveting Detroit inspired dance music with soulful piano. That piano may encapsulate a sound not many may equate to the Italian, but he now threads down a course that garners influences from his native Naples and musicians like Keith Jarret Duke Ellington and even Hans Zimmer. His artistic mould is shaped from by his experiences, and these are laid bare in his jazz-tinged sound on his album Nuovo Futuro, which was released on Axis records. Kaleidoscopic in his quenching of musical thirst, Attanasio keeps music in its purest form. These melodic air vibrations evoke something opaque, yet wildly pulchritudinous, regardless of the audience. It was recorded on the 18th of August 2002 and is part of a 5 hour set, vinyl only. Thinking of Dimi Angelis, we quickly associate his name with pounding sounds, high-quality releases, and an iconic trajectory. Staying true to his sound, Dimi has evolved over the years into one of the most renowned producers and DJs worldwide. Looking back to the nineties, Dimi has been one of the key figures shaping the Dutch techno scene as we know it today. His career has been marked by releases on top-tier labels such as Axis Records, Warm Up Recordings, Mord, KEY Vinyl, Tar Hallow, and the co-owned label A&S with Jeroen Search. This has led him to perform at major techno institutions such as Berghain, Awakenings, Dekmantel, and Tresor. Bangladeshi-Canadian artist Lady Tazz has long been leading the techno underground with her dark, seductive styles designed to get dancers to unleash their inner kinks. Her own sounds appear on labels such as Rekids, as well as her own Mind Medizin, which is a tastemaking outlet for liberating techno. Hermanas started in 2024 to spotlight female producers who inspire Lady Tazz. The series encourages artists to celebrate expression, freedom, and individuality on the dancefloor, and this latest edition is another bold continuation packed with artistic empowerment and fearless sonic exploration. First up is Pert from Buenos Aires, who heads up the GRUVALISMO label and plays around the world. 'Vocal Player' pairs driving, dusty Detroit techno drums with melancholic chords that linger in the air, bringing emotional richness alongside an irresistible groove. Mexico City's Laura Coch has brought her sound to renowned platforms like HÖR Berlin and Unknown to the Unknown. She has collaborated with Egyptian Lover and heads up the Global Harmony party collective. Her 'Moshing Ferrets' is a bleakpost-human soundscape that rides double-time kicks and fizzes with static before molten melodies fall down the face of the track and warped bass sucks you in deep. Colombia's Sara Delerio is another raw, hypnotic techno talent who has begun to make a mark in Europe. Her 'Espiritu' is quick-stepping, well-swung and dubbed out techno with bubbly, organic percussion sprinkled over the mix and ghostly synths layered in to freaky effect. Lastly, Laurel brings a vast techno groove that rolls with the unstoppable force of an oil tanker as warped synths play off the beats and the pressure keeps building. Dirty Epic welcomes aboard @materielle_music B2B @marienyx for our 122nd episode of Amplify Series. Materielle is a Los Angeles-based techno artist whose deep, dub-driven sound draws heavily from the rhythmic syncopations and atmospheric textures of 90s Detroit techno. Fusing elements of heavy, hypnotic basslines with intricate patterns and immersive reverb, Materielle’s music taps into the raw energy and experimental edge of underground techno, with an emphasis on subtle detail and emotional depth. A self-taught producer with a decade-long career in music technology, Materielle has cultivated a distinctive sonic palette shaped by the teachings of pioneering artists like Rødhåd, Ben Klock, Claudio PRC, and Richie Hawtin. The project’s name, Materielle, is inspired by the delicate art of weaving—an analogy for the artist's approach to music, where sound is crafted through layers and textures, much like fabrics are woven together to create something new. Since 2019, Materielle has honed her craft as a DJ, transitioning seamlessly into production with her track singles, Satin and Organza on Delusional Records and the release of her debut EP, Fabrique on Northern Parallels. The EP, which features the tracks Nylon and Neoprene, with remixes from Mike Derer and Raytek, has garnered attention for its unique blend of hypnotic grooves and emotionally charged atmospherics. Materielle’s recent release, a remix of Orly Gal’s track, The Man Without a Face, was chosen by Beatport for their November 2024 Techno Shortlist (peak/driving), further solidifying her growing presence in the techno scene. In early 2025, she contributed the track Kevlar to the Synthetik Minds VA Compilation, a benefit release supporting Los Angeles fire relief efforts. The compilation features a lineup of major artists from across the global techno scene, underscoring Materielle’s commitment to both artistic collaboration and community impact. Fall of 2025 she releases her next single “Chiffon” on the forthcoming Split Checks Records VA Compilation. Marie Nyx is a Los Angeles–based DJ, producer, and label head whose sound bridges electro, techno, and experimental electronica with roots in post-punk, new wave, and darkwave. She has brought her infectious, high-energy style to stages at HARD Summer, CRSSD Festival, Insomniac events, and prominent underground institutions like The Lot Radio. With releases on Delusional Records, Boysnoize Records, Obskur Music, Synthetik Sounds, Hidden Symbols, and Dark Heaven, Marie continues to push boundaries as both an artist and tastemaker. In 2025, she founded Synr, a label dedicated to forward-thinking electro, techno, and experimental sounds, solidifying her place as a driving force in the underground electronic scene.
