This is Episode 1 of my exploration into mastering the "mental game" beyond sports. This is the foundation for everything I'm building now, including MindLab. Today would have been my dad's 80th birthday. When I was 15, he handed me "The Mental Game of Baseball" and said it could change everything. I told him I read it.... I didn't. It wasn't until seven years later - breaking down in front of my coaches, questioning whether I'd even be a starter - that I finally understood what he was trying to give me. My dad hated wasted potential. On his 80th birthday, I'm starting this series to build the bridges between ancient wisdom and modern life that I wish I was ready to hear at 15. Listen above, and if this resonates, I'd love to hear about the wisdom you weren't ready to really grapple with until later — and what the trigger was.

Nick Amano-Dolan is a bartender and key team-member at the world-renowned San Francisco bar, Trick Dog — and is one of my oldest friends and very favoirte people on earth. Earlier in 2023, he completed his first 100-mile race. Despite finding himself in rehab in his early 20s, he has carved out a niche for himself that is not only fruitful, but true to who he genuinely is. He's on an awesome path, and I'm excited to share some of that with you. Enjoy!

Dr. Boyle (mom) has been on the front lines of leadership throughout the COVID pandemic response at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington D.C. We discuss what this year has been like from the helm of the ship and how she managed to get to her current position — and what we can learn about our current landscape of institutional leadership.
