Our tribute to one of the all-time greats, featuring music from the 80s, 90s, and 00s.
Our second tribute to the greatest producer of all time. This episode features Charanjit Ahuja's productions from the 1980s and 1990s for artists like Malkit Singh, Hans Raj Hans, and Sardool Sikander.
The late 1980s saw UK-based bands dominate with records like Up Front, Cool & Deadly, and Premi Strikes Again. However, Punjab still had some young and hungry vocalists after the death of Chamkila, including Sardool Sikander, Hans Raj Hans, and the now-forgotten Kuldip Paras. Although Paras never saw the success and longevity of his contemporaries mentioned above, he recorded two classic albums, Jee Karda Chuk Le Javan and Gal Mukdi Aake Daru Te, which cemented his legacy as a folk hero.
Here's an old Sidhu Moosewala special I did on CJSR. I was never a big fan, but I loved songs like Dollar, Sohne Lagde, and Bambiha Bole. With his death at 28 years old, I think Moosewala has become this generation's Chamkila, leaving behind a polarizing legacy and countless hit songs.Rest in Power.
The fifth instalment of my Bhangra 101 Project: The Greatest Punjabi Songs of All Time. This episode focuses on 1979 when Alaap started the second wave of UK Bhangra with their debut, Teri Chunni De Sitare.
Our first tribute to the greatest producer of all time. This episode features Charanjit Ahuja's productions from the 1980s for legendary artists like Gurdas Maan, Amar Singh Chamkila, Sardool Sikander, and Kuldip Manak.
What's your favourite Punjabi song?In 2015, I recorded a show focusing on my ten favourite Punjabi tracks to celebrate my thirtieth birthday. It features a little bit of Surinder Shinda, Bindrakhia, B21, and, of course, the almighty Chamkila. And there's a hint of a future mid-life crisis.
The fourth instalment of my Bhangra 101 Project: The Greatest Punjabi Songs of All Time. This episode focuses on 1978, which saw the release of masterpieces like Surinder Shinda's Naina De Vanjare and A.S. Kang's Gidhian Di Raniye Ne Gidhe Wich Aa.
Our tribute to the legendary Sardool Sikander
Here's the third instalment of my Bhangra 101 Project: The Greatest Punjabi Songs of All Time. This episode focuses on the mid-1970s, capturing the dominance of Kuldip Manak and the debut of A.S. Kang.
Here's the second instalment of my magnum opus, The Bhangra 101 Project: The Greatest Punjabi Songs of All Time. This episode focuses on the 1970s and the rise of Kuldip Manak.

Man, the host is so lucky to talk about his childhood and the upbringing with Punjabi culture. I wish I had that milestone with Bengali culture.
