There are many things that lead to regrets. When you carefully look at all, you will realise that they fall under these 3 categories. Give us your listening ear.
If we must speak, then it should be what have thought first before letting the words get to the world.
When we have occasion or important personalities to meet, or even at the bear minimum feel good, we outwardly beautify ourselves and ward-off all defect that may be seen, best is to do that to our hearts.
Are you that productive Muslim?
We prepare for our stay here on earth, that's why we strive to ease things for ourselves, so what have I prepared for our eternal abode in the hereafter.
We have become accustomed to complaining about our problems and difficulties to other created beings when in reality they, themselves have problems they cannot help themselves with. Better is becoming accustomed to being patient, then complaining to Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) and trusting in His plan because He is Al-Hakim - Ar-Rahim, The Most Wise - The Most Merciful.

We have become accustomed to finding faults in others but ourselves to such an extent that we go around telling other people which in itself is a flaw. Why not becoming accustomed to digging within ourselves and understanding our own flaws, seeking Allah's forgiveness and His assistance to overpower this ego and desire. Hence the advice of Umar: 'Call yourself to account before you are called for accounting and judge yourself before your judgement comes to you.'
We have become accustomed to neglecting and overlooking the every minute Allah's blessings upon us and have attained mastery in crying over His tests upon us. Why can't we become accustomed to expressing gratitude and focusing on His blessings upon us if truly we understand His saying:
لَئِن شَكَرتُم لَأَزيدَنَّكُم وَلَئِن كَفَرتُم إِنَّ عَذابي لَشَديدٌ
If you are to show gratitude and express thankfulness, I surely will make increase for you. (Ibrahim 7)
Many have become accustomed to spending so much money that they need not to on things that are of no importance to them with the hope of oppressing or impressing people that may not even care. Why not invest it in a trade which Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) is going to multiply it for you? "The likeness of the one who spends for the sake of Allah is like one who plants a seed that come out with seven ears, each ear having one hundred seeds, and for whosoever Allah wills, He multiplies that." (Baqara 261)
We have become accustomed to recharging our devices the moment we see the battery getting low for an hour or half. Better it would be if we become accustomed to recharging our Iman (faith) with repentance the moment we commit sins because then, the level of our Iman drops down.
Many have become accustomed to spending their presumed free time scrolling through the social media feeds. Imagine if we become accustomed to giving half that time, flipping or scrolling through the pages of beneficial books and learning new things instead?
We have become accustomed to seeking advice and professional supports from experts and specialists in various fields whenever we want to do something that relates to that field, which is really a good one, but best is first seeking Allah's guidance, then seeking supports from those experts and finally putting trust in Allah. Hence you have Istikhara as a spiritual compass.
Many have become accustomed to seeking validation and approvals of the creations of Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) when instead we are supposed all to become accustomed to seeking the pleasure of Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) for if He is pleased with us, then His obedient servants will also be pleased with us and we are in no need of validation from His disobedient servants.
As we have become accustomed to cleaning dirt around us or on us, better than it would be to become accustomed with cleaning the sins on us through seeking forgiveness and repenting to Allah, hence it is part of the Sunnah to at least seek forgiveness at least after obligatory every prayer.
As we have become accustomed to being extra careful and concentrative when driving to avoid accidents that may cost us our lives, better it would be becoming accustomed to being extra careful and concentrative while in our Salah, because the greatest accident for a believer is being in the grave with crooked Salah.
We have become accustomed to ignoring calls or messages that we feel are disturbing or problematic to our mental or general wellbeing. Better than that would be becoming accustomed to fighting and ignoring the whispers from inner desires that make us disobey of Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) which ultimately in itself is a recipe for calamities and ultimately destruction in the hereafter.
We are accustomed to quickly responding up calls from people beloved to when they call, hoping to hear good news from them. Better it would be if we become accustomed to responding to the call of Allah (Subhanahu wa ta’ala) when the Mu’adhin makes it, for we are called to Allah who is more beloved to us and Who loves us more than any creation. Hence we are called Hayya alas-salah, come to SUCCESS.
Many have become accustomed and make it a priority to check their messages as the first thing they do in the morning expecting messages from people of importance . If only we were to do that for the Qur'an because the Qur'an is a message from Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) to you and I or the ahadith of the Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) because he is a guide for humanity until the Day of Judgement. How would we have been? So let's become accustomed to that.
Why not give just that little
In the same manner we have become accustomed, with the advent of smart devices, holding different kinds of gadgets and using them at the regular intervals. Better it would be if we become accustomed to holding the Qur'an, opening it, reading it at regular intervals, for we would get reward for every single harf (letter) we have recited, just like the Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) has mentioned in an authentic narration.
