The company offers natural alternatives to traditional colognes and perfumes. . After leaving an abusive relationship, Ashlee set out on a four month solo backpacking trip around the world to rediscover herself. One of those stops in that journey was Egypt, where Ashlee visited a perfumery while taking a cruise down the Nile River. There she learned about the history of fragrances in Egypt, and took a strong liking to the unique qualities of Pure Papyrus Oil. After coming back to the states and realizing there was virtually no access to high quality, Pure Papyrus Oil, she worked to source the Papyrus Oil from the perfumery she visited in Egypt in order to share this unique fragrance with others. . After Omaha was not accepted at the Sundance Film Festival, Dan became the co-founder of the Slamdance Film Festival in 1995, which takes place in Park City, Utah. Slamdance has showcased early short films and debut features from directors such as Bong Joon Ho, Ari Aster and Christopher Nolan. Dan is also the author of The Cheerful Subversive’s Guide to Independent Filmmaking, which hit #1 on Amazon’s New Releases chart after the 2nd edition was released in July of 2021. . This episode covers Christopher Pellegrini, who became captivated with the idea of brewing from a simple school assignment researching the prohibition era. That captivation turned into brewing at home, working for Otter Creek in Vermont, becoming the youngest commercial brewer in the United States, and eventually becoming a shochu and awamori expert in Japan. Since those humble beginnings, Christopher launched Honkaku Spirits in March of 2020 with the mission of bringing Japanese spirits to American consumers. He’s a contributor to the award-winning “Oxford Companion to Spirits and Cocktails,” and the author of the first non-Japanese book about shochu and awamori: “The Shochu Handbook.” Christopher also co-hosts two podcasts focused on the education of Japanese spirits: Japan Distilled and Sake on Air. The conversation ranges from Christopher’s origin story into the craft beer world, to his transition into craft spirits, to different ways to enjoy shochu, and even some cultural differences between The United States and Japan in regards to doing business. Since then, his interest in the sport has built him a resume that includes providing commentary and analysis for Stateside Footy TV, Girls Play Footy, and the Footy Gospel Podcast. . Brian even played a total of 61 games over seven seasons with his local USAFL club: The Philadelphia Hawks. In addition to being a team player, Brian has also served as secretary and media manager for The Hawks, and helped the club grow their online presence with game reports and social media involvement. .
