Description

"Ta-Li (大理)in the House" is a public time capsule where Ta-Li candidly shares his unfiltered experiences of working in both Swedish and international environments. Through his stories, he provides insight into life as a foreigner, detailing the struggles and triumphs he has faced as an expat. Originally from Taiwan, Ta-li came to Sweden to pursue a master’s degree and now openly shares his journey—from the challenges of adapting to a new culture to the unique moments that have shaped his path. His reflections capture the reality of navigating life abroad as a young professional and the growth that comes from living outside one’s comfort zone.

I feel really lucky to have landed this position. Many of my predecessors have been in the role for 10 to 20 years, so openings are pretty rare. The job is flexible, with manageable hours and minimal micromanagement from the manager. There’s a lot of room to grow, whether you want an easy role or are ready to take on more responsibility, like working on verification or technical tasks. It’s also a global position, which adds a nice dimension to the work. One of the best things about this environment is that people don’t make assumptions, and you never feel afraid to ask any questions, no matter how basic. There's no pressure to overwork, and burnout isn't a part of the culture—you’re encouraged to keep a good work-life balance. The company has a flat hierarchy, and most people aren’t interested in moving into managerial positions. Managers treat everyone with respect, and there’s no culture of "silent obedience." -- Hosting provided by SoundOn
