Rev. Shawna Summers interviewed Brian Tom O’Connor, author of Awareness Games: Playing With your Mind to Create Joy, and a co-host of the Awareness Explorers podcast. His newest book is called Awareness Adventures: Discovering Your True Nature. He is also an actor, theatre director, cabaret performer, and formerly depressed guy who stumbled onto the source of joy and happiness in the background of all experience. Brian does not claim to be an enlightened person, which he says is, in fact, a good thing, because if someone as imperfect and flawed as he is can find it, he maintains that we all can. He invites us to try the games and make up our own.  Experiment.  See what works for us.  He posits that it’s all about our direct experience. He asks us to play with pure awareness and discover the background of all experience, where happiness is hiding in plain sight. If you would like to learn more about Brian, please visit one of his websites or listen to his podcast. playawarenessgames.com  awarenessexplorers.com If you would like to donate to Brian Tom O’Connor you can do so at this link during January 2023: https://awakening-together.org/donate/support-the-current-satsang-guest/ This interview is part of Awakening Together's Monthly Satsang series: https://awakening-together.org/category/sidebar/satsangtalks/ Prefer video? Leonard Jacobson shared the teachings from his most recent work Liberating Jesus as well as about his upcoming book which he plans to release in February of 2023. This interview is part of Awakening Together's Monthly Satsang series: https://awakening-together.org/category/sidebar/satsangtalks/ Leonard is deeply committed to helping others break through to the joyous experience of living in the NOW. Leonard teaches how to become fundamentally present and how to arise in mastery of your mind and ego, so that you are no longer involuntarily pulled out of Presence. Leonard embodies a profound depth of Presence and his teachings are a powerful reminder that in truth, there is no life outside of this moment. He has been guiding people how to be present for over 40 years. Leonard teaches that the fully awakened state of consciousness is available now. It is not something that occurs in the future. It is not something that we can arrive at through spiritual practice. It is already here, waiting to be revealed. As you awaken into the present moment, your thoughts will stop, your mind will fall silent, and you will awaken to an inner silence and peace that is beyond understanding. You will begin to encounter what the mystics and Masters have been speaking of for centuries. One of the most significant aspects of Leonard’s teaching is his unique insight into the nature of the mind and ego. Leonard teaches us how to come into right relationship with the ego in a way that helps the ego to relax, and he teaches us how to integrate awakened consciousness into everyday life and relationships. He is the founder of The Conscious Living Foundation, a registered non-profit organization. In 2005, he was awarded the Peace Prize by Religious Science International, although he is not affiliated or associated with any religion or church. His teaching is both inclusive of, and transcendent of, all religions and spiritual traditions. It is for all those genuinely seeking to awaken, and for all those who want to overcome the pain and limitations of the past, and open into a more loving and abundant world. Leonard is the author of six books, Words from Silence, Journey into Now, Embracing the Present, Bridging Heaven & Earth, Liberating Jesus and In Search of the Light, a winner of the Indie Children’s book award. Journey into Now has been translated into eight different languages. He lives in Asheville, North Carolina and offers evening teaching sessions, weekend workshops, and longer residential retreats in the United States, Europe, Australia and Asia. Chelan Harkin spoke with Anne Blanchard on October 16, 2022, as part of Awakening Together's monthly satsang series. Chelan is the author of two beautiful books of spiritual poetry. Her first collection is called Susceptible to Light. Her most recent book is Let Us Dance! The Stumble And Whirl With The Beloved. Chelan describes her poetry collections this way: “Let Us Dance! The Stumble And Whirl With The Beloved, is here to inspire you to harness your beautiful, dynamic power and look the world directly in the eye. It emboldens the reader to let go of shames and shoulds with The Beloved and entices you to step up to the dance floor of your life and ask The Divine for a whirl.“ “Susceptible to Light… is mystical and ecstatic in nature… (it) is here to remind you of your joy, to assist you in reconsidering ways of relating to your life that better serve and open your heart; to deconstruct anything about God that doesn’t feel close, intimate, authentic, and warm; and to remind your soul to break the surface and take a breath.” If you would like to learn more about Chelan you can visit her website ChelanHarkin.com. AHAM, an acronym for the Association of Happiness for All Mankind, is a non-profit spiritual education/meditation training organization.  AHAM’s purpose is the elimination of upset and suffering by the uplifting of consciousness, and the realization of happiness-now or fulfillment lived now as the natural state of Being. Participants came together to discuss the Shawn Nevins Satsang. The purpose of this Sangha is to share what was most impactful, hear from others about what they took away, and deepen into the teaching from the previous day’s Satsang interview. Come to share or just listen to others.  All are welcome!
Rev. Saina Fernandez interviewed Shawn Nevins who is an author, advocate, and filmmaker, for Awakening Together's June Satsang, held Sunday, June 19. Shawn began his spiritual path in college with the Self Knowledge Symposium, which led to Richard Rose, an enlightened teacher in rural West Virginia.  He spent four years on Rose’s farm, meditating, reading, experimenting with celibacy, hypnosis, fasting, dream work, and many other practices, until hitting a dead end.  He spent another three years delving into intuition—particularly through writing poetry.  Along the way, Douglas Harding‘s suggestion to look at the space he was looking out from challenged everything he thought he knew.  Finally, in a moment of complete honesty, he experienced something beyond experience—a place which is no place, where there is no flip side to the coin. His books include Subtraction: The Simple Math of Enlightenment, The Celibate Seeker: An Exploration of Celibacy as a Modern Spiritual Practice, The Resurrection of John Davis: A Screenplay, and Adventures in Caving: Kentucky and Indiana.  He is co-author of the poetry collections Images of Essence (with Bob Fergeson) and Hydroglyphics: Reflections on the Sacred (with Phaedra Greenwood), as well as the forthcoming Passages: An Introduction and Commentary on Richard Rose’s Albigen System (2022). Shawn’s documentary film work under Poetry in Motion Films includes Closer Than Close, which caught the attention of Bruce Joel Rubin (academy award-winning screenwriter of Ghost and Jacob’s Ladder), Meetings with Remarkable Women, Traveling Lighter with Paul Hedderman, and Mountain High: Touching the Void with Bob Fergeson. A frequent speaker and workshop leader at TAT Foundation events, Shawn has also spoken at San Diego State University’s “Consciousness Hacking” course (2017), the Perfectly Okay online group (2021), Pittsburg Self-Inquiry Group (2022), and been featured on Conscious.tv (2018).  His other endeavors include creating and curating an extensive collection of interviews and reviews of spiritual teachers and other resources at SpiritualTeachers.org. Participants came together to discuss the satsang with Cay Villars. The purpose of this Sangha is to share what was most impactful, hear from others about what they took away, and deepen into the teaching from the previous day’s Satsang. You can find a link to a video of the satsang itself here.
Cay Villars was interviewed by Laura Joy Bedford in the Awakening Together online sanctuary. Cay is a mystic in full devotion to following the Voice of Jesus in the continual celebration of inner Light. Some call this Enlightenment or Union with God. She is called the “laughing mystic” for the joy and sense of humor expressed in Satsang/Joining in Light Sessions. She began hearing a Voice while volunteering as a behavioral change coach in prisons for men and women in Wisconsin. While studying A Course in Miracles (ACIM) she experienced mystical visions in which Jesus appeared. In the first vision, he gave her the blue Joining in Light image, a symbol of the healing power of joining to quickly release upsets and thus celebrate shared Light within. Jesus taught her to hear and follow His Voice through assignments in India, Portugal, Europe, Mexico, Bali, and Jerusalem. Her “storyline in the world” included executive coaching, management, marketing, intuitive healer, and scientist, which led to the realization that there is no storyline of more value than the happiness of Divine Being in celebration of all the Love there is. The symbols of Joining in Light in the form of Light Circles and Jesus: A New Covenant ACIM, a message to ACIM Students JANC ACIM) were extended to Cay in mystical visions and conversations with Jesus–the Voice for God. Yet this is only a reminder that this Voice is available to everyone as everyone is Light, the Light of Love within. JANC ACIM is a message of encouragement to all ACIM students and students of non-duality that Jesus is available to directly support them fully in their path to Enlightenment. A PDF of JANC ACIM is offered freely on the Joininginlight.net website.  A beautiful full-color printed text is now available on Amazon. Cay extends Jesus’ teachings that everyone can hear and follow Jesus/the Voice for God as a means to Enlightenment, the complete undoing of the ego to transcend all pain, illness, and suffering of the world. This is the joy and peace that surpasses understanding. She is Director for the Joining in Light Silent Devotional Center.  The Center is a 501c3 nonprofit devoted to the mystical teachings of Jesus for the release of hidden desires for pain and suffering.  The Center offers daily zoom joining sessions, a phone app, online programs, and in residency Light training programs hearing the Voice for God and quickly releasing hidden subconscious desires to deny Divinity.
