By denying ourselves physical sustenance, we create space for God to work in our hearts and minds. Fasting can help us gain clarity and direction from God, and deepen our faith and dependence on Him. On the second installment of the "Men of Integrity" series, we're diving into the book of Daniel, exploring the faith and perseverance of Daniel and his three companions. These four men stood strong in the face of kings, idols, and death, declaring that the Lord is God and should be worshipped alone. Taken captive during the Babylonian exile, they found themselves in a culture that sought to assimilate them into Babylonian ways. Despite their young age, between 14 and 17, they resolved not to defile themselves with the king's food and wine, remaining faithful to their identity as children of God. While they were offered favor and compassion, they recognized their situation as a test of their faith and loyalty. They chose to obey God's commands rather than conform to Babylonian customs. By God's grace, they flourished and even surpassed their peers who indulged in the king's provisions. Their example reminds us to remain steadfast in our faith and identity as followers of Christ, resisting the allure of the world's values and living for God's glory alone. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jesusnamenews/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jesusnamenews/support

This week on the Jesus Name News Podcast is all about patience and longsuffering. Patience means you can deal with delays, troubles, or suffering without getting angry or upset. It's also about being slow to anger, slow to take revenge, and slow to "boil over." The opposite of patience is wanting everything right away and letting things like anger, frustration, or revenge get the best of you. Patience is where grace comes from, and without it, there is no grace. So, the podcast reminds us to work on being patient, growing the fruit of the spirit, standing strong during tough times, resisting temptation, and glorifying God even when things aren't going our way. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jesusnamenews/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jesusnamenews/support
This week we continue our look at the Fruit of the Spirit and explore the meaning of peace. The peace that Paul speaks of in Galatians 5:22 is the security and safety to know that one is cared for, loved, and supported by God. The opposite of peace is anxiety and worry, which often mask rebellion and idolatry. When we cast our anxiety upon God, we can trust that He will provide for us and lead us forward in His timing. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jesusnamenews/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jesusnamenews/support
This week we’re going to continue our discussion of the fruit of the spirit. This week our topic is is joy. So what is joy exactly? Joy is, sort of, happiness. But its more than that. JNN's new series focuses on the Fruit of the Spirit, but not only that, we’re going to talk about the works of the flesh and how the world is trying to oppose and replace the Fruit of the Spirit in our lives. This being our first week, our topic is love. What can we say about love that hasn’t been said? Love songs, love poems, romance novels, romcoms, love is always a topic of conversation. But the love that the fruit of the Spirit is talking about is a very specific kind of love. This week we are coming to the final episode of our series on the Jesus Code! We’ve talked about how Jesus talked in code about the End Times and we’ve looked at Jesus’ coded messages about the lost, now we are going to look at how Jesus spoke about seed and sowing seed. The salvation of the people we come into contact with cannot be up to our actions. We can’t “till” someone’s heart enough or strategize enough that they come to Jesus and are saved because of me. Its because of them, their decision, and the pull of God on their heart. Till the ground. Work it. Do everything you can. But the reality is that the cares of this life and the allure of riches are going to rob us of those who have walked with us for a season. Pray for them anyways. A lack of faith and a closed mind is going to cause some to never hear. Pray for them anyways. Love them anyways. A lack of depth and an inability to withstand persecution and trials is going to take others away. Pray for them, as well. Next week, we will be taking the week off to prepare for our next 8 episode series, "The Fruit of the Spirit!" --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jesusnamenews/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jesusnamenews/support
Last week we discussed the prodigal and how we need to pause, sometimes, and think about the love of the Father. We need to remember the vast spaces that God’s love can cover. It sounds like a great way to end a parable, right? "Leave it alone, close the book, and call it a day, Jesus." I’m positive that everyone around Jesus was fine with that part of the parable. But, Jesus was not done with this parable. He had one more point to make. This week we’re going to look at that point in the second part of the Parable of the Prodigal Son with the son who stayed in the father’s house. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jesusnamenews/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jesusnamenews/support
We all know a the story of The Prodigal Son. Because of that, we often gloss over the meaning and significance of  the story. We tend to desire deeper theological wisdoms and ideas. Yet, there is nothing deeper than the love of God. This week, we pause to talk about the Prodigal - his journey, story, and reasoning. Despite all of it, he still had a father who wanted him - who loved him. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jesusnamenews/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jesusnamenews/support
