Left to their own devices, and with the Sex Pistols basically over, Sid and Nancy found their way to New York City. From room 100 of the Chelsea Hotel, they spent 1978 in a drug-fueled haze, with Nancy booking some gigs for Sid to keep them supplied with money to support their habits. On October 12, 1978, Sid awoke from a Tuinal-induced sleep and found Nancy dead on the bathroom floor, with a stab wound in her abdomen. He was arrested and charged with her murder, but didn't live long enough to stand trial. Sid Vicious died of a heroin overdose on February 2, 1979, though the specifics of his final dose remain a subject of speculation.

Nancy Spungen didn't start life with a lot going for her. She was very smart, but also very emotionally disturbed. At 15, she was diagnosed with schizophrenia, and would shortly pick up a heroin addiction, an activity that she would share with her future boyfriend, Sid Vicious. As a couple, they were volatile and violent, drawing Sid's attention further and further from The Sex Pistols, which was rapidly disintegrating on the road in America at the start of 1978.

Today we're bringing you one of our occasional Dumpster Dives, where we catch up on the latest news from the Trashy Divorces Cinematic Universe. In the Dumpster today:
Corey Feldman's long running divorce is over, but he's found something else to be mad about: the time he was almost cast in What's Eating Gilbert Grape. Leo DiCaprio earned an Oscar nomination instead.
Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster are reportedly planning to get married, but Hugh's children aren't entirely on board. Also, no prenup? Come on, celebrities. Do you even listen to our show?
80s pop master Boy George has some advice for notoriously press-averse Chappell Roan.
Another 80s pop master, Billy Joel, was honored at Carnegie Hall, accompanied to the show by his friend P!NK.
Is Tom Brady dating Scooter Braun's ex, Yael? Maybe so, but Giselle still wins the divorce, Tom.
Dearly departed Shannen Doherty is somehow still in court with her ex-husband, who wants the terms of their divorce agreement adjusted because, you know, she lost her fight with breast cancer two years ago.
Finally, Cindy Crawford made the mistake of sharing her morning routine with social media. The results were... well, you can guess.

As Britain's youth struggled through the doldrums of the 1970s, their sense of alienation forged a new approach to music, birthing punk. And the band most closely associated with the punk movement at the time was The Sex Pistols. Four young men driven by a sense of aggression and a whole lot of drugs? It was not a recipe for longevity, an outcome that would become especially acute for bassist Sid Vicious.

Entertainment reporter Billy Bush found himself in a life-changing pickle back in 2016, when a leaked tape was dropped into the final month of a presidential election. It ended his long career with NBC, and for a while, looked like it might have ended his career entirely. In the aftermath, he and his wife divorced, but a funny thing happened on his way to a comeback: he made himself a better person.

While researching for her Done & Dunne podcast, Alicia came across a story right up our alley: a scandalous affair, secret marriages, secret divorces, bigamy, and all set in America's Wild West. Meet Horace Tabor, once one of America's richest men and briefly a US Senator for Colorado, his long-suffering wife Augusta, and the mistress Horace couldn't wait to wed, again and again, Baby Doe Tabor.

Swimmer Ryan Lochte is one of the most decorated male swimmers ever, but he's managed to mar his own accomplishments over and over again. From 2016's Lochtegate to his current messy divorce from his long-suffering wife Kayla, it seems like he just can't manage to get out of his own way.

It's been a huge day in our Trashy Universe, with what might
be the start of real, criminal accountability for a Jeffrey Epstein friend.
Finally, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly Prince Andrew, has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office - what Americans would likely call "public corruption" - a charge that could land him in prison for life. Americans may still be fuming about elite impunity over here, but at least in the UK, someone powerful is entering the find-out phase.

A story that's been bubbling for a few years now finally broke open one January day, when Brooklyn Beckham, son of David and Victoria Beckham, took to Instagram to lay out a full-throated indictment of his parents for all the world to see. The story is not at all pretty, and it left us feeling pretty bad for Brooklyn's wife, who seems to have become a target for his family, rather than a part of it.

When Netflix released The Hunting Wives last summer, it's fair to say the show became a sensation. What's not to love? A taut murder mystery plus graphic, often lesbian, sex scenes - no wonder it attracted such a buzz. But while the protagonist goes through plenty in the show, the actress who plays her, Brittany Snow, had recently gone through her own trashy divorce, from pro-surfer and reality TV realtor Tyler Stanaland.

In this special trashy crossover episode, Vulgar History’s Ann Foster joins Alicia to talk about her new book, Rebel of the Regency: The Scandalous Saga of Caroline of Brunswick, Britain’s Queen Without a Crown. Caroline’s life was pretty incredible and she should be remembered much more in history. This one has everything – a plucky heroine and a trashy king, marital misadventure, affairs, fashion, riots, scandal and everything else there is to love about the Regency Period.

This week Alicia gets to the bottom of the basket in this episode about Jane Birkin, English actress, singer, and designer - also, namesake of the very famous Birkin Bag. Jane's story is truly incredible, and is the stickiest spiderweb from our Brigitte Bardot arc that we had to explore. Jane will have a long term love affair with Serge Gainsborough once Brigitte dumps him, but that is only one part of her incredible story.

In this "We're Both Sick" re-air from January 2020, Stacie has the surprisingly trashy tale of Charles Dickens’s public abandonment of his wife of 22 years and the secret, 13-year-long affair that he conducted with a young actress throughout the rest of his life. Turns out that so-called “Great Men” only hold up if their followers are willing to keep their secrets.

The University of Michigan football program has been having a weird few years. In her later years, French actress and icon Brigitte Bardot devoted her considerable talents to the protection of animals all over the planet. In the 1980s, having retired from film, she created the Brigitte Bardot Foundation dedicated to animal welfare, and used her substantial platform to contact governments and heads of state with letters decrying their nation's treatment of animals. But her attitudes about people became far less generous as she aged. Her fourth and last marriage was to a far-right politician, and she was repeatedly fined by French courts for inciting racial hatred. To be honest, she had a lot of bees in her bonnet by the time she died on December 28, 2025, and she leaves a genuinely complicated legacy behind.

As Brigitte made her way into the 1960s as a bona fide, worldwide celebrity, she found the experience was not especially to her liking. Where she had once strolled the streets of her beloved Saint-Tropez barefoot and happy, by the time she found herself pregnant and married for a second time, an army of photographers assembled outside of her home made her little more than a prisoner in her own life.

In the final days of the no-good, very-bad year of 2025, the world learned that the iconic French actress Brigitte Bardot had died at the age of 91. Having achieved international stardom back in 1957 in the film And God Created Woman - a collab with her first husband, director Roger Vadim - she became a significant cultural export from France in an era where the rules that seemed to govern the conduct of ordinary people were increasingly being questioned and cast aside.

Comedian and actress Amy Schumer had a bit of whirlwind romance with her husband, chef Chris Fischer. They married after just four months of dating, but seven years later - after a child, a round of IVF, various health challenges, an autism diagnosis - they've announced that the marriage has come to its end. But cleanly, and apparently very amicably. Are Amy and Chris role models for a good divorce?

We live in an era where scandals often fail to make much of a dent in the reputations of the rich and famous, and today's story illustrates that this sad situation isn't really new. In 1870s Brooklyn, a famous preacher named Henry Ward Beecher had a problem in his private life. He was having affairs. Lots and lots of affairs. But it was his affair with Elizabeth Tilton, the wife of his close friend Ted, that would scandalize the nation - without ever delivering any consequences to Henry himself.

She was a racist, anti gay, anti Muslim old woman. Not exactly worthy of such praise.
This should have been a great podcast about a legendary women and her messy relationships. Instead it was as if you were too lazy to put together a comprehensive biography. You mention an 8 hour documentary... you should have watched it. You did not do Ms Franklin any service and that is a shame on you situation.
Is it mandatory for this podcast to have the annoying chit-chat/disruptive commentary? Fleetwood Mac has an interesting history, but the steady "Oh, wow" comments are annoying AF.

Does anyone notice how sometimes the recording seems like it it rewinds and them starts again? What's going on here?
does anyone notice how the episodes will go back and forth with the recordings?
It appears this podcast is entirely plagiarized from early articles...at least say it's not your work because it's word for word, not your words.
nope. nope. he's gon kill the gma. not a good choice. Stacey, I'm with ya!
omg I'm dying over this ep. 😅
laughed so hard, I cried!
One of the best so far. Informative, silly, snarky.
Ironically while channel surfing, in the last couple of weeks, I stumbled upon Lethal Weapon and ended up watching the movie. I just finished listening to this episode and I feel dirty for having financially supported so much hatred in our world. Off to the showers
I love this podcast!!
I enjoy every podcast. Everyone of them thus far are great!!
I love this podcast ! You two are funny , informative .
Love, love, love Trashy Royals. Please dig into the Mary Queen of Scots side of the story. It's incredibly intriguing.
a lot of salty men here. Never once noticed any "man hating". They're just telling it like it is. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
why do they keep saying tldr- not sure it is being used correctly.
I love Dominick Dunne, and I can't wait for this podcast. He is one of my favorite writers.
omg, the one host is always CRYING and it's so cheesy. She probably gets all choked up over Hallmark card commercials. Someone get her some mood stabilizers.
