On this week's episode, Kim and Amy discuss the valuable lessons they learn during their Talk Yoga sessions.  Using the Talk Yoga lens, we are always evaluating our client's needs.  We are asking "why" during our sessions and digging deep into foundational skills to help us better assist our amazing clients.  We see our clients as our teachers, and when we approach our therapy with this in mind the learning opportunities are endless.  From movement, to posture, to breathing, we discuss how using Talk Yoga principles enriches our therapy to help us provide fun, effective, and meaningful therapy.
What is Talk Yoga?  We are asked this question all the time, and the truth is, our answer is different every time!  We are learning more and more with each Talk Yoga session what it is at that moment with that specific client.  Of course, as we have shared before, Talk Yoga is a therapeutic approach infusing speech and language therapy with the movement of yoga, AND it is individualized, fun, holistic, motor based, sensory based, and so much more!  Join us on today's episode as we share stories about specific clients that continue to teach us how to use the Talk Yoga lens to effectively assess and treat our amazing super star clients!
Join Amy and Kim as they discuss their lessons on the mat this week, and lessons from their Talk Yoga therapy sessions.  The powerful gift of breath is a theme in today's episode.  Listen as Amy and Kim share experiences they have had this past week using a simple breath cue with their clients.  Breath can refresh, redirect, and rejuvenate both clinicians and clients.  Breath is simple, it is powerful, and it is under our control.  Teaching this to clients provides them with a tool when they need to find a sense of calm, focus and stillness.
Join us as we touch on the anatomy and physiology of Talk Yoga and why we are seeing benefits with these techniques across the board!  Our knowledge regarding the "why" Talk Yoga works is continuing to expand and we are just scratching the surface in this podcast!   In the early days of Talk Yoga, we saw effectiveness with these techniques, but it wasn't until we began consulting with our OT and PT colleagues that we really have started to put all of the pieces together.  We began looking at our clients through a new lens.  We wanted to understand how their individual anatomy, physiology and sensory systems impacted or benefited their speech and language systems and how our Talk Yoga techniques can address these systems and result in growth, development, and progress! We share just a bit today, with much more to come in future podcasts and in our newly revised certification training!
It has been a long time - well a summer - since we last shared some podcast time with you all!  We can't wait to share with you what we have in store for our upcoming episodes.  We have more in depth trainings, more yoga, more tips, and of course, more insights into the world of Talk Yoga.  Help us celebrate National Yoga Month by reviewing our podcast for a change to win a free gift from Talk Yoga!  We give good gifts friends, so take us up on this!  Here is a free gift and tip for you...we love to practice with Tim Senesi on YouTube and think you should try out his amazing yoga practices.  Happy National Yoga Month and welcome back to the podcast!
Join us on today's episode as we interview executive function coach, special educator, advocate, author, and award winning teacher, Sarah Kesty!  Sarah is truly gifted when it comes to understanding how to dig deep into understanding what makes her clients tick, and how she can help them access their self regulation skills to then engage their much needed executive functioning skills.  We will discuss what executive functioning is and why it is so important.  Sarah will give us tips you can use today to help those you work with (or live with) better understand and engage their executive function skills.  We will discuss how Talk Yoga strategies can also help children get their brains ready to learn, and therefore be more efficient and effective in their executive functioning.   Visit Sarah at her webiste: sarahkesty.com, and listen to her amazing podcast: The Executive Function Podcast.  We loved talking with you Sarah...we can't wait to have you back soon!
