It is difficult to think of a season in which the Cardinals rotation, just two weeks out of Opening Day, has ever felt so unsettled. But the difference now is that unsettled, all told, may not be the worst thing. Bernie Miklasz and Will Leitch break down the Cardinals rotation for 2026, and note 10, maybe even more, different guys who could be a part of it. It's different than what it might have been in the past. But it also might be better. Music as always by the great The Sundogs. seeingredpod@gmail.com. Twitter/X/Bluesky: seeingredpod
Whoa, actual news! This weekend, the Cardinals extended the contract of manager Oliver Marmol through the 2028 season. Bernie Miklasz and Will Leitch dig into the details and are generally in favor of the extension: All told, you should probably trust Chaim Bloom on this. They also discuss J.J. Wetherholt and preview the WBC, which will feature Albert Pujols and Yadier Molina as managers. Music as always by the great The Sundogs. seeingredpod@gmail.com. Twitter/X/Bluesky: seeingredpod
Bernie Miklasz and Will Leitch were probably a little TOO optimistic last week, so we bring you down this week, discussing how the problem with this team may end up being the offense rather than the pitching. Will they be able to find a stud bat? Will THIS be the year for Jordan Walker or Nolan Gorman? Will Masyn Winn take a step forward? Lots of offensive questions for this team, yep. Spring Training has arrived! Bernie Miklasz and Will Leitch welcome the 2026 Cardinals and dig into why they are legitimately excited to see what might be coming for the Cardinals, as well as praising JJ Wetherholt and learning how to pronounce "Jurrangelo Cijntje." We're now weekly for the rest of the season! Can't wait! We missed you! Music as always by the great The Sundogs. seeingredpod@gmail.com
The trade we've all been waiting for finally happened: The Cardinals traded Brendan Donovan. He'll be in Seattle, and the Cardinals got a pitcher who throws with both arms as well as a bunch of draft stuff. Bernie Miklasz was unable to be with us today, so Will Leitch solos, talking about what the trade means in the short and long term. Because there is no Bernie, this is, of course, the words episode of Seeing Red ever. But we still wanted to get it out to you. We'll be back weekly when Spring Training gets going (and Will gets back from the Super Bowl). Music as always by the great The Sundogs. seeingredpod@gmail.com
Hey, hey, Bernie and Will are back! Bernie Miklasz and Will Leitch return for their first Seeing Red of 2026, and they've got a lot to discuss, starting with of course the Nolan Arenado trade. They dig into what Chaim Bloom may have brewing up next, including with Brendan Donovan, and what some of the projection systems say about the team in 2026. Our next show will be after the Super Bowl, but come Spring Training, we'll be back to weekly. We missed you! Music as always by the great The Sundogs. Sorry we didn't have our opening song on this one, we had some tech issues. It'll be back on the next show. We're rusty!
Hey, hey, Bernie and Will are back! Bernie Miklasz and Will Leitch return for their first Seeing Red since the end of the year, and they've got a lot to discuss, starting with of course the Sonny Gray trade. They dig into what Chaim Bloom may have brewing up next, as well as trying to figure out the catching situation and how long it may be until the Cardinals contend next. We missed you! We hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Music as always by the great The Sundogs. Sorry we didn't have our opening song on this one, we had some tech issues. It'll be back on the next show. We're rusty!
So the 2025 Cardinals season ended with a whimper. Goodbye, John Mozeliak, hello, Chaim Bloom. What's next for the offseason? What will surprise us? Bernie Miklasz and Will Leitch wrap up the year and look forward. And thank you all for listening this year, it has been more fun than the baseball. We are excited to talk more this offseason than we did last offseason. Music as always by the great The Sundogs.
We promised you a big Recap Of The John Mozeliak Era show. This is that show. Bernie Miklasz and Will Leitch give an exhaustive rundown of the highs and low of the Cardinals' leader's two-decade run on the eve of his retirement. How will he be remembered? What did he do right? Wrong? What's fair? What isn't? We did in deep. We hope you enjoy. And hey: Just one week left in the season! Music as always by the great The Sundogs.
The Cardinals are about to have a VERY active offseason. Bernie Miklasz and Will Leitch go through the whole roster to figure out who's going to stay, who's going to go, and what they think the Cardinals SHOULD do. It's a fun show, with just two weeks left in the season. Music as always by the great The Sundogs.
OK, look, we got a full episode again, it's amazing what you can do through basic Zoom. We also did it on video, which was almost kind of weird! Anyway, Bernie Miklasz and Will Leitch talk about Bernie's big Jordan Walker scoop from last week, and then they dig into, with your help, What Will Bring The Fans Back? What do fans expect? What do they need to see? This is what this episode's about. It's a good one, we think! Music as always by the great The Sundogs.
So we're still having some issues with the Cast podcast app, which is why this show is (once again) shorter, though it is longer than last week. We'll just do Zoom moving forward--annoying. Anyway, Bernie Miklasz and Will Leitch get into all sorts of good stuff, but we missed a whole fun Story Hour With Bernie in which we heard about him watching the Ozzie "Go Crazy Folks" homer with Bill Bidwill. Argh. Music as always by the great The Sundogs.
WE ARE SORRY: CAST ATE THE FINAL 40 MINUTES OF OUR PODCAST TODAY. Here are the first six minutes. Very frustrating. Below is what it WOULD have been about. CAST is the equivalent of Cardinals baseball right now. Anyway, have a great Labor Day. As the wheels start to come off the 2025 Cardinals, Bernie Miklasz and Will Leitch take a look at the two most compelling figures, moving forward, on the team: Nolan Gorman and Jordan Walker. Have they made progress? How can you count on them moving forward? We dig into the futures of each player, and the Cardinals themselves, and how they're tied together. We also talk a little college football. Have a great Labor Day! Music as always by the great The Sundogs.
A miserable week--seriously, what a lousy homestand--was exacerbated by some very, very small crowds at Busch, which was noticed by a national media paying attention to the Yankees. We discuss that, an interview with the Cards' head of ticket sales and try to place blame where it's warranted. We also have a fun discussion of everyone's picks for their least favorite Cardinals ever. Fiery show! Music as always by the great The Sundogs.
After a successful week--wait, are the Cardinals really only 3 1/2 games out of the Wild Card--and a weekend that featured Yadier Molina in the dugout (and a lot of Cardinals fans wishing he'd stay there), Bernie Miklasz and Will Leitch dig into The Oliver Marmol Question. What kind of a manager is he? Why are fans so skeptical of him? Can he survive into next year, or even the year after? Does what he represent shadow who he actually is? It's a lively discussion! Also: We want to hear your least favorite Cardinals ever: seeingredpod@gmail.com Music as always by the great The Sundogs.
The Cardinals didn't do THAT much at the deadline, but maybe that's for the best. Bernie Miklasz and Will Leitch discuss what comes next, whether Chaim Bloom is NOW fully in charge ... and what we should expect from the ownership group moving forward. Music as always by the great The Sundogs.
The Cardinals needed a perfect week to convince themselves they could be buyers at the deadline: That, uh, did not happen. So it's clear what the Cardinals have to do. Bernie Miklasz and Will Leitch preview John Mozeliak's final deadline running the Cardinals, and who might go ... and what it might mean. We'll be back next Monday to wrap it all up. Music as always by the great The Sundogs.
The Cardinals came out of the All-Star Break and face-planted in Phoenix, getting drilled in three uncompetitive games. Bernie Miklasz and Will Leitch think this seals the deal on this season and are primed for what might be some pretty big changes. We discuss! Also, Leitch and his son will be at Busch this weekend: If you see them, say hi. Music as always by the great The Sundogs.
The Cardinals sort of stumbled into the All-Star Break, but they're still only a game-and-a-half out of the Wild Card. What should we think about this team at the break? Bernie Miklasz and Will Leitch try to make some sense of it. Music as always by the great The Sundogs.
Sheesh, this team! After one of the best weeks of the season, the Cardinals had one of the worst, going scoreless against the Pirates and getting knocked around by the Cubs. What to make of them now? Bernie Miklasz and Will Leitch try to figure it out--and probably fail. Music as always by the great The Sundogs.
