Subscribe now to hear the first episode. Proudly in collaboration with Brick Studios.I’m Jose Pucella, join me as I take you on this audio journey with Heath Davis on the making of his new crowd funded film CHRISTMESS.As well as being a part of Australian film history there are some fantastic perks on offer. But, best of all, you can help us make a REAL difference. With its’ strong social message of mental health awareness, alcohol addiction, community and resilience, CHRISTMESS has the potential to encourage not only conversations about these pertinent issues but also inspire change and connection in these trying times.  Hosted on Acast. At long last, the first episode. Secondly, any and all puns I (Jose Pucella) own unashamedly, along with failed attempts at humour.Thirdly and foremost, Heath Davis. A legendary bloke and storyteller who weaves in some comical anecdotes as we deep dive into his writing and story development process for his fourth film CHRISTMESS.If you don’t want to end up on Santa’s naughty list…please subscribe and listen. Additional Links Brian Laul – Oz Funland: https://www.ozfunland.comJai – The Beer Brewing Shed: https://thebeershed.com.auDaniel Fenech – Brick Studios: https://www.brickstudios.com.auCrowd Funding Campaign for CHRISTMESS : https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/christmess# Hosted on Acast. Numero dos is here. Heath regales us with his ultimate childhood Christmas memory, the story of "When Heath met Steve" (cue Harry Connick Jnr) and the infamous Steven Seagal story (albeit heavily redacted). Also my puns reach a new low as does the audio in the last 10 seconds due to uncontrollable connection issues. And if you enjoyed this episode more than Heath enjoyed the idea of strapping a go-pro to a gorilla, then please like, subscribe to stay updated on future episodes and leave a review as it really does help others find this show.Additional Links Daniel Fenech – Brick Studios: https://www.brickstudios.com.auCrowd Funding Campaign for CHRISTMESS : https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/christmess# Hosted on Acast. In this third installment, we talk Mothers Day, deep dive into Indie-rock group sensations Hannah Joy's acting debut, dissect the musicality of CHRISTMESS, and get a Michael Madsen story and impersonation of him from Heath Davis. And if you enjoy this episode as much as Heath enjoyed his childhood all-nighter Chrissy cricket game, then please subscribe, like and if so inclined leave a review as it helps us grow this community with wonderful people like yourselvesAdditional Links Daniel Fenech – Brick Studios: https://www.brickstudios.com.auCrowd Funding Campaign for CHRISTMESS : https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/christmess# Hosted on Acast. In this episode I'm joined by creator and founder of Brick Studios and producer extraordinaire Mr Daniel Fenech. We try and create a sort of audio road map for any aspiring film maker or creator looking to leap into their first feature. Examine the importance of galvanising local community spirit in these endeavors and drop a few F bombs along the way.And if you’ve been listened to the show and enjoyed the third episode as much as Heath enjoyed the idea of a possible late night prank call to Michael Madsen, then please subscribe, like and if so inclined leave a review as it helps us grow this community with wonderful people like yourselves. I go solo for this shorter episode on a topic that I feel doesn't get sufficient air time when the media covers film production and that is mental health. So possible trigger warnings as I’ll be specifically discussing anxiety and sharing my own experiences with this mental health issue. Also below is a link via the Australia Counselling website for anyone interested in accessing more information about the services that these fantastic mental health organisations provide to Australians. Daniel Fenech aka Fenno, returns for this episode to wrap up our chat on producing. He reveals that Jonathan Page has joined on as a distributor and I try my hand at impersonating Homer and faux McConaughey while keeping it all Christmess related.Additional Links Daniel Fenech – Brick Studios: https://www.brickstudios.com.auCrowd Funding Campaign for CHRISTMESS : https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/christmess# Hosted on Acast. Today I host the first installment of my Special Sponsors Episode Series for Heaths film Christmess and chat with Jai Kemp. A bloke who in the late 80’s and early 90’s tried a hand or TWO HANDS (1999) at acting. But perhaps his greatest acting feat was the ripper of a furphy he told his wife that lead to him becoming a legend in his own right as the now owner and sometimes brew master of the iconic watering hole THE BEER SHED. Please check out the link below of this slick short promo for The Beer Shed created by Daniel Fenech and his team at Brick Studios:https://vimeo.com/480154848Additional Links:https://www.brickstudios.com.au/https://www.facebook.com/DiaryofaCrowdFundedFilmhttps://www.facebook.com/jose.pucella.1 Hosted on Acast. Please join me on this second installment of my Special Sponsors Series with the product and marketing head of Alkalizer, Shefali Pall. A woman whose tantalising treats and wholesome foods are enjoyed regularly by resident and neighbouring Campbelltonians. And when she’s not creating culinary delights, or inspiring her patrons through uplifting face book posts; she can be found supporting local businesses and charities of the MacArthur community and most recently, extended her support to the Australian Film industry by providing the Lion's share of catering on Heath's newest film - Christmess. On this third installment of my Special Sponsors Series, we skip merrily down that fabled "Yellow Brick Road" to chat with accomplished journalist, prolific thespian, creator and co-host of Good Morning Macarthur and proud proprietor of Leumeah's one and only OZFUNLAND. The Wizard of Campbelltown himself, Mr Brian Laul. I really apologies for the audio issues that occur in the latter half of the interview. However I trust that the conversation with Brian that takes us around the globe, so to speak and lands us back in OZ and on the doorstep of Heaths fourth film Christmess, will leave you smiling from ear to ear. Joining me for this 10th episode is editing wizard and motion designer magician Romain Mongin. We transition from his film studies in France to his philosophy on collaborating in the edit room with Heath then star wipe into a discussion on editors who we consider masters of their craft. https://www.facebook.com/DiaryofaCrowdFundedFilmhttp://brickstudios.com.au Hosted on Acast. On this 11th episode your host Jose; a guy who enjoys throwing back flans like shots of whiskey, is joined for a third time by his creative brother from another mother Daniel (Fenno) Fenech, the producer for Christmess. They chat COVID and its impact on the production as Sydney prepares to enter an extended lock down, and put a shout out to local musos as promotions start for the Battle of the Bands competition that will take place at the Beer Shed.https://www.facebook.com/DiaryofaCrowdFundedFilmhttp://brickstudios.com.au Hosted on Acast. For this 12th episode I’d like to take a moment and reflect on the significance of the number 12, as it cannot be understated. The 12 Apostles, 12 months in a calendar year, 12 Olympians in Greek mythology, 12inch Subs, 12 glazed doughnuts, VitaminB12, 12 gauge shotties because;"Yeah shotties are good mate", The 12th Man and 12 year old whisky. But none has a deeper connection to this podcast than the 12 days of Christmess and for this 12th episode of Christmess this podcast gives to thee – Steve Le Marquand. Steve has had guest and lead roles in a plethora of Aussie tv shows from Home And Away, Underbelly Razor, Les Norton to name but a few. A prolific theatre actor and noted co-writer, producer/director as well as starring in the immensely successful theatrical production of He Died With A Felafel In His Hand (based on the book by John Birmingham) and of course a captivating and intuit character actor both internationally as Cyril Beach in the US film Vertical limit, to local features like Wozza in Gregor Jordans Two hands, the Tall thug in Jeremy sims Last Train to Freo (nominated for Best Lead Actor at both the AFI & Flim critics circle awards) and of course as a long-time collaborator on Heaths previous 3 films (Broke, Bookweek and Locusts) now returning for the Superfecta to play Chris Flint, aka Santa in Heaths 4th film Christmess. Joining me for this 13th episodes is a talented creative, whose FOCUS is unwavering, can F/STOP on a dime, and is fluent in DUTCH angles. It's talented Aussie cinematographer Chris Bland. We chat about his travels abroad, his planning approach and collaborative process with Heath in pre-production and on set and to my complete surprise and absolute delight, discover Chris and I were alums from the same film school.Chris has been the DOP on all of Heaths previous films, Broke, Bookweek, for which him won silver and Locusts, for which he won GOLD at the NSW Cinematography Awards in 2019. Throughout September and perhaps October and maybe even November, I’ll be interviewing creatives from OZ and hopefully NZ, discussing their love of the arts and the careers they’re carving out of this love and anything in between. So Welcome to the Diary of a Creative series. To kick things off I caught up with a legendary Melbournian of proud Greek heritage and possibly mythical origins, director and filmmaker at Visible Studios, Nick Kozakis. We chat about the herculean accomplishment of the Tones And I 'Dance Monkey' music clip which since it’s initial release to youtube on Jun 25, 2019 has amassed over 1.6 billion views. Nick teases at the VSMVU (Visible Studio Music Video Universe) he's creating with Masked Wolf (aka Harry Michael) and he shares some exciting updates about his new and upcoming feature 'In God's Care'. Plus he reveals which characters of Futurama share a characteristic resemblance with him and his misfit crew of creatives at Visible Studios. In this 2nd installment of Diary of a Creative from OZ to NZ I sit down for a virtual tête-à-tête with Aussie Director Ben Young days before his flight out to Atlanta, Georgia where he will start prep on his latest feature based on the novel by David Joy titled, "Where All Light Tends to Go" starring Billy Bob Thornton and Robin Wright. We touch on the critical success of his 2016 psychological thriller debut feature ‘Hounds of Love. As well as recap is sophomore outing directing the action/sci-fi/ movie EXTINCTION’ released worldwide on Netflix in 2018. Look into what drew him to direct Episodes 5 and 6 of the highly anticipated Australian-American co-produced Netflix mini-series CLICKBAIT, released August 25, 2021 and I try to get Ben to share as much info as he can about his third outing in the director’s chair on "Where All Light Tends to Go".Additional Links:https://thesandbox.com.au/our-directors/ben-young/https://www.facebook.com/Benjyoung1 Hosted on Acast.
