In this week's episode, we change the pace a little and discuss self-care and boundaries for teachers and parents. We mull over how to set healthy boundaries around our work and our relationships so that we can be truly present with the children; how to care for our own minds and bodies; and how important is it that the children see us doing this so that they can learn to care and advocate for themselves. We may not have all the answers, but we have lots of thoughts! If you have any self-care or boundary-setting tips you would like to share with our community, email owen.schiller@newamsterdamschool.org and we may just read them on a future episode!
In this week's episode, we interview our very own Ms. Itiola! Hear about her transition into Waldorf education in Middle School, her mother’s legendary jollof rice, and the rising cultural consciousness in Waldorf education and the world as a whole!
In this week's episode, we interview our very own Mr. Owen! Hear about his journey through Waldorf education, how not to explain magnetism, and the importance of intentional language and anti-bias modeling in the classroom!
In this week's episode, we interview our very own Anna Park! Hear about her discovery of Waldorf education, her thoughts on teaching respect for diverse cultures in the classroom, and the story of the infamous "Kimchee Incident"!
Just a little teaser of the upcoming project from Anna Park and Owen Grayson Schiller. New episodes launching every Friday. Information will be available in the weekly Villager newsletter. Mr. Owen and Ms. Park are taking Waldorf ingenuity into their own lives and learning how to record and produce this project themselves so we are extremely grateful for your ears and your time. We plan to get very good at this (after a few more episodes)!
