Kathy Trusdell has been of service all of her life, starting with volunteering at a home for the blind, working with a girls basketball team and serving many volunteer roles while her sons were in the boy scouts. Originally from Hawaii, Kathy has settled in CT with her husband Walt. Her caregiving journey was with her friend, Angie, and her mother. Kathy owns a business called Musicational Doc, and you will find that she incorporates music into her Summer Squash and Pasta recipe
Nessa was married for 10 years when her husband, Mike was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson's disease. She has been his caregiver for close to 20 years and they are both actively involved with Parkinson's support groups in Southern California. Nessa has also learned about the importance of self-care, as she had her own health struggles over this past year. She shares a warm and anti-oxidant rich tea recipe with us, made with turmeric, cinnamon and ginger.
Maryann Meken-Silvestri is an award winning fused glass artist, raised in a multigenerational, multicultural family. She was taught about providing comfort through experiences within her family. Maryann's husband Al, a Vietnam War Veteran, began experiencing medical difficulties as a result of his exposure to Agent Orange. She will share her experiences caring for her husband and some of the lessons she learned from her family. In addition she will share her wonderful recipe a traditional Greek chicken soup called Avgolemono Soup
Chris MacLellan is known to the caregiving network as "The Bow Time Guy." He was on a caregiving journey with his now deceased partner, who was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2011. He is an ardent advocate for caregivers through his podcast "Healing Ties" and is the founder of The Whole Care Network. Chris and his partner, Richard Schiffer were featured in a 2015 Pulitzer Prize nominated caregiver story titled "In Sickness and Health: A Couple's Final Journey." Join us to talk about how Chris is caring for himself now that he is on his own and to share his fabulous Pineapple Upside Down Cake recipe.
