That's right, folks — it's time to strap in, rev up your engines, and get ready for a raw, rugged, 100% premium grade "ALL AUSTEN" content block, starting with Gwyneth Paltrow's in-your-face, no-holds barred 1996 juggernaut, "Goop's Emma." In this breathtaking, death-defying tournament of champions, two Emmas enter, but only one Emma will leave alive. EMMALIMINATION begins ... now. The Death March is over, but we still have to do our Plot Line Power Rankings, play a bracing game of Ned, Kitty, El, and slide, gracefully, into Dodo's DMs. Our scintillating Middlemarch content block comes to a scintillating end with the 1994 BBC miniseries! This is a very short announcement to say that we are moving our release date to Tuesdays. I'm realizing this announcement is timed with April Fools Day, so I'll just pause to say that this is not a trick. We'll be back with the final installment of Death March Through Middlemarch, "Death March Through Middlemarch, Leg Five: The March Home" tomorrow. Tuesday! ❤️ + 😘 Learn more about your ad choices. Our brutal march comes to an end in the forsaken lands where George's murderous schemes make targets of us all. But before we few survivors can rest our broken bodies on the unforgiving ground, we must spin the dread roulette of "Fred, Mary, Will" one last time. And also make a very steamy kissing scene a good deal more family friendly. And now we march through the most dangerous territory yet: The fevered swamps where Emo Will Ladislaw lurks and the weary survivors must play "Fred, Mary, Will" ... or die. Music credits: "Neoclassica Baroque," by Synthezx "Prince of Darkness," by Allen Grey “Sadness,” by Allen Grey "Baroque Harpsichord," by Cinemedia "Classical Baroque," by Cinemedia “Chopstick Slapstick,” by OurMusicBox Special thanks to Baby Bee Carys for the theme music! The iconic Circle of Friends known as Tanner, Jack, and Lewis get to the bottom of some deeply concerning facts about bachelor and bachelorette parties, bread-adjacent characters in movies, and some of the different things that friends can do in a circle. This week's Chris is O'Donnell, and he does not acquit himself particularly well in this film. One of the juiciest Chris-es this side of "Puffin Rock" AND a fellow podcaster in one movie means that the boys will have to muster the performance of a lifetime to do this delightful film justice. And boy, do they deliver. Prepare to meet Sir Edwin Chastity, an incredible new character who will doubtless be an enduring legacy of this year in podcasting. This week's Chris-es are Messina and (ever-so-briefly) Pine. Blink and you miss 'em, but we really do need to catch them all. We also need to check for Hobbits, rant, self-righteously, about how content was better in the aughts, and dramatically improve a wedding poem. Lots of work to do, so hop in! (Also, we're mustard bros this week. Probably best to warn you up front.) Remember when we did Swiftmas, and the time when Jack was at Grandma’s so we did one about Puffin Rock too? WELL F**KING FORGET ABOUT ALL OF THAT BECAUSE WE NEED TO FIND THAT ENERGY WE HAD WHEN ARBITER TANNER WENT MISSING AND ARBITER JACK CAME BACK RIDING THE GHOST OF CHRISTMAS FUTURE TO WHISK US AWAY TO SAVE HIM. Remember how pulse-pounding that was? This is the exciting conclusion! We also watched Chris Pratt in something. Ghost Draft, I think. Special thanks to Baby Bee Carys for the theme music! Here’s wishing that you thrive and find happiness in the new year. And even though we’ve all made it to 2024 together, it’s important to remember how we got here and why we’re still doing this. Our passion and our drive is only part of the equation. It’s you, our loyal audience, that keeps us going week in and week out. Thank you for everything. Merry Swiftmas, y'all! As is traditional during Swiftmas, we will be celebrating Taylor by enjoying her hit 2010 film, "Valentine's Day." Now is (continues) the winter of our "Chris" content, made funner by the "Chris" from "Civil War." Y'all are going to need your "Ghosted" names for this one, so start thinking about that now! But before you get too excited — there's no easy way to say this, but, well ... the number of ghosts in this movie is probably not the number of ghosts that you're expecting. Don't worry — we're here for you. Now is the winter of our "Chris" content, made gloriously dumber by the "Chris" from Thor. That's right, folks, it's a brand new content block to warm our hearts all through this bitter winter! So strap in and settle down for the very first "Chris" of the season: Hemsworth? "Kris"ten Stewart? Or is it multiple "Chris"es for the price of just one absolutely unhinged Charlize Theron?! This movie is bonkers. Music credits: "Winter," by bd Productions "Medieval Fantasy," by CineMedia "Summer Sport Rock," by 331 "Epic Battleship Soundtrack," by Snow Music Studio "Christmas and Winter Romance," by Mat Steiner "Henry's Wives," by Flossie Wood "Winter's Tale," by Stellar Tracks "Bard's Tale," by Score Wizards “Typewriter Blues,” by AllenGrey "Beautiful Christmas Tale," by Musical Smile Special thanks to Baby Bee Carys for the theme music! Please join us for the Hanksgiving armistice, where we take a break from hunting hunks and give thanks for Hanks. And also for Meg Ryan. Then, as is Hanksgiving tradition, we'll be generating our Sleepless in Seattle names and writing some moving "Dad Personals," in the event that our sons ever need to call into a radio show to advertise our personal qualities to listeners. And next week, we'll go back to hunting the hunks we shared this beautiful moment with. That's just how this dirty business goes. eek this one was a bit rough to listen to.. . maybe Jack and Tanner have been spending too much time together ? the jokes towards each other were getting a touch snipey and the irritation felt real ! also, the sound effects are a bit much for me , the simpler the better I say ! but that's just me . otherwise, loving the show :)

Great podcast- I'm addicted, but the levels are difficult. especially Jack. Tanner stays pretty steady but Jack makes the volume scratch often as well as lowers his voice to where you can't hear him unless you are wearing headphones. I usually listen while driving and when he talks too low, even on high volume, you cannot hear what he's saying. I'm on episode 30, so please tell me this gets better bc it's really tedious to constantly change the volume levels as well as miss info bc he talks too low. Otherwise, quite enjoyable and humourous.

barring skipping her shopping date, Claudia did absolutely nothing wrong. just because the books paint the BSC's bullying (because that is what they did) as right doesn't make it so. Claudia is allowed to have other friends. Ashley isnt a freak, she just doesn't worship babysitting like their little cult. the notes were petty and Claudia is honestly foolish to not demand an apology from them or kick them out of her room. also,it's hilarious that Stacey thinks bell bottoms look weird but not the blind Lady Gaga looking outfits she and Claudia wear.

Love this podcast so far... But holy hell the different level of volumes throughout the episodes is bloody awful. Not sure how much more I can handle it... Bummer...

Listen up sheeple: the BSC is an interstellar conspiracy with Princess Ann M Martin at the helm. When you were saving your allowance to buy the newest BSC "book" at Brentano's, did you ever stop to think about how these babysitters were infecting your labile mind? And how you can easily remember Stacey's favorite colors (red black & white) but have to reset your iCloud password every time you sign in? Yeah. THINK ABOUT IT.

Two things are true about me: I am a newly minted PhD in Comparative Literature and I used to buy Baby-Sitters Club books by the 4-pack from Sam's Wholesale Club. These two facts may or may not be connected. Anyway, I think I can say I'm qualified to say this podcast is the height of literary analysis and podcasting combined. If you've always dreamed of Freudian, Biblical allegorical, or behavioral economic readings of the entire Baby-Sitters Club series--and who hasn't--the dream is real.
